    DSM 6.1.x Loader

No, if you've managed to install it & everything's working you should be ok.
  2. Just remember to disable C1E support in the bios.
  3. If you're running DS3615 successfully, there isn't much to gain from changing to the DS3617 image. You can upgrade your loader by flashing a new USB drive with jun's 1.02b loader, setting your original aside just in case & don't forget to set the USB's vid & pid, Sme AMD systems require C1E support to be disabled in the bios, so check yours
  4. Try this: https://github.com/brainfoolong/web-ftp-client
  5. On a live server I would agree, however you do need to perform some kind of disaster recovery test to verify that what you're doing to safeguard the data is actually going to work. If a backup / DR server isn't possible then I would have thought a little bit of time invested in creating a couple of VM's for the purpose would be time well spent.
  6. I guess the only way to know for sure if it's going to work the way you want is to test it.
  7. For me purely because it kept everything in DSM.
  8. You don't mention which loader or model you're using, but assuming jun's 1.02b & DS3615xs, 8 drives will be fine.
  9. You can go to 6.1.5 with jun's 1.02b loader if you want to, just remember to disable C1E support in the bios.
  10. Then you should have been more specific. DS3615xs
  11. Jun's 1.02b loader & DSM 6.1.5 works well with the gen8.
  12. All current loaders can be found here: I suggest that you download the relevant loader from here & try again.
  13. Ok, that rules out the USB. Did you check the HDD's status or try another?
  14. Sounds more like a disk failure, have you verified the disk is ok. Also I'd suggest trying another disk & possibly using a different USB stick.
  15. You need to setup a DDNS service, something like no-ip & configure port forwarding on your router. Have a look at the FAQ for more info.
  16. Open Package Center, Settings. There is a drop down which allows you to choose the default volume.
  17. Have you actually tried it, are you able to access your server via SSH?
  18. As soon as you add any HDD's DSM will get installed onto them it's just how it works.
  19. What you've opened there is package center, you need to open the actual photo station app.
  20. Permissions are not assigned from control panel, you need to go into the photo station app to assign them.
