Haven't done this yet, but my experience tells me that the following actions will help you achieve the goal: 1. plug in one of your new HDDs and start your NAS the normal way 2. Go to Storage Manager in DSM -> Volume -> Manage -> Expand the volume by adding hard disks 3. A consistency check should start after finishing step 2. Only after this step has finished successfully you can go to step 4 4. Shutdown your NAS, remove the small HDD and connect the 2nd new HDD 5. Go to Storage Manager in DSM -> Volume -> Manage -> Expand the volume by adding hard disks 6. A consistency check should start after finishing step 5 7. Your new volume should be ready to rumble! This small how-to applies if you have a SHR-1/RAID5 type volume Cheers and good luck!

maybe he got a job at Syno? )

I always say the same thing. If you will need it for real important shit(data) buy the goddamn original Syno. Me for example, I have it as a "productive NAS for home". Am I doing the right thing? ) PS: I already recommended at work to buy some big DiskStations that should provide rather cheap but large storage spaces in remote locations where a SAN is not the option due to lots of reasons. The best choice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi, your question and many more were answered already in other threads. Just spend some minutes on reading other threads as good information may come handy. By default, DSM is installed on a separate system partition, "mirrored" on all available HDDs. This is the best way to have it. Don't be grumpy about losing a couple of gigs from your big disk group. It's for your safety Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

VPN created issues to me also. I had it removed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hmmm, Could be but Elvis can still be alive also ). Let's not go to much into conspiracy theories. The fact is that Syno knows about XPeno and only they know what strategy they have in regards to this community. They could destroy XPeno or they can make it flourish and turn it into their mega beta test environment (Personal opinion) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Synology Community Package Sources (UPDATE 2024)
Schnapps replied to Schnapps's topic in Third Party Packages
One of the reasons I have lots of issues with most of the builds, is related to the fact that i use a bunch of packages, including community ones -
UPDATE February 2024 - I updated the list by marking DEAD links. Slight chances that some of them will come back, but keeping them here for historic purposes. Hi fellow XPEnologists, Below is the list of packages i use on my NAS. Hopefully you will enjoy them as much as I am. http://packages.synocommunity.com http://packages.synocommunity.com/?beta=1 http://packages.pcloadletter.co.uk http://synopkg.superzebulon.org/spkrepo/packages http://update.10trum.de/packageupdate/getpackages.php http://synology.mdevries.org/spkrepo/packages http://synology.sysco.ch http://synology.acmenet.ru http://packages.jdel.org http://packages.missilehugger.com >>> DEAD http://e-remonty.info/spkrepo/packages >>> DEAD http://www.cphub.net >>> DEAD http://packages.hoel.dk >>> DEAD http://spk.q14six.de >>> DEAD http://packages.quadrat4.de >>> DEAD https://www.christoph-papke.de/spkrepo/spkrepo/packages >>> DEAD http://cytec.us/spk >>> DEAD http://ggteknikus.tk/sspks/ >>> DEAD http://synopkgs-garble.rhcloud.com >>> DEAD http://spk.naefmarco.ch/spkrepo/packages >>> DEAD http://spk.nas-mirror.de/spkrepo/packages >>> DEAD http://www.need-soft.com/packages/index.php/spkrepo/packages >>> DEAD http://subtitlessh.no-ip.biz/repo_spk >>> DEAD http://synobox.fr.nf/synopackages >>> DEAD http://synobox.fr.nf/synopackages/beta.php >>> DEAD http://repo.synozwave.com >>> DEAD http://spk.unzureichende.info >>> DEAD

It seems that some of my issues have been fixed with a cleanup of the existing 4.3 packages (upgraded to DSM v5 or not). Some others have been fixed by disabling https and SPDY protocols
-
Zarocq, i somehow managed to make it work. I also thought it was a package and i deleted everything inside /volume1/@appstore and rebooted. Now, the issue is that some packages are not running and not starting after a reboot. Think it's again a package but i don't know why. I use lots of packages because this is the advantage DSM has in comparison to... FreeNAS for example Bummer! Thanks mate!

Olaf, i suggest to use your sarcasm somewhere else. Here, on this forum we're trying to be a bit more productive mate. You don't know me and i don't know you but i can totally bet that i used my paypal donate card way more times than you. Thanks for your help anyhow. Cheers!

I appreciate the response, assuming you were responding to me, but you didn't actually answer my question. As I stated, I know how to perform the action of editing the files, I just don't know where they are located or how to get to them. Inside DSM 5 in the File Explorer there is a Text Editor installed. Use it.
