  1. Login via ssh and type cat /proc/cpuinfo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Uh not here, look in control panel in system info Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hmm that's strange... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Look at my signature. That mobo is pretty silent and has a low power (10W TDP) quad core CPU and passive cooling. The PSU and the rest of vents added to the case should be sikent I have now 3 coolers in my case. In total 30ish decibels. Pretty silent for a living room. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hi gilgha, DSM sees and works with more than 2 cores but the Synology developers hardcoded 2cores in the DSM GUI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hi, I succeded to install my intel centrino 2230 by doing : - copy the firmware file (http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi) onto /usr/syno/hotplug/firmware - insmod /lib/modules/cfg80211.ko then insmod /lib/modules/mac80211.ko - insmod /lib/modules/iwlwifi.ko wireless module is now loaded wlan0 is listed with the command iwconfig but I cannot see the wifi card onto DSM 5 I had the same issue with an USB 1Gbps Ethernet card. I just forgot about this. It will not work. Don't know the reason. Anyhow, if you don't have Ethernet next to that nas, just try to use some power line adapters. You plug them into the power outlets and they use the power copper lines for transferring internet data Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. 1. Create a new USB stick with nanoboot 5.0.3.1 (you can use Rufus to write the ISO to the flash) 2. Download the latest .pat from Synology for your type of machine 3. Re-Boot from the new nanoboot USB flash 4. Select from the boot list Upgrade 5. Navigate to http//yournasip:5000 and follow the on-screen wizard but at a certain point use the MIGRATE MY FILES from the wizard. If you don't know he nas's IP address just use Synology Assistant to find it. After a successful migration, just use the update menu from DSM's Control Panel to update to Update 2 6. Good luck! 10. Totally an overkill. Go for a smaller CPU and 4GB RAM MAX!! DSM isn't that power hungry as FreeNAS. Use a m-ITX architecture and mobo. The CPU should be an x86_64 one with low TDP. Look at my configuration in the signature. It's still overkill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. hmm, i have the latest BIOS i could download and install from their own bios If it's needed, i will update manually to the latest update 1.20 not sure what version i have now. i'm at work and the nas is, well... at home thanks for pointing this to me.
  12. Just updated this evening to NanoBoot-5.0.3.1 (x64) and DSM 5.0-4493 Update 2. Still, USB devices are not recognized fufik65, you did someting else to your config? Thanks
  13. I'm a beta user at VMware for vSphere and currently there are in beta with vSphere 6.0. I asked them on their forums how can i do it and got 2 replies with some boot parameters: My backup is not yet finished so i don't want to start before it reaches 100%. Try the following if you are quickier: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2399321#2399321
  14. I have Q1900-ITX and I'm using an older version of nanoboot and DSM 5.0-4482 and my USBs are not working, so guessing the issue comes from either nanoboot or DSM. Nanoboot mostly probable. I will upgrade this evening to the latest nanoboot and then to the newest DSM and tell you what's the cause. Thanks for your feedback
  15. Keep us updated and use the latest version 5.0 4493 Update 2 and the latest nanoboot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Dude, I said it's working! Use DSM to create a SHR-1(RAID5) volume Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Yup, that's how I have it. 4HDDs in SHR-1 on a Q1900-ITX that has 2x SATA2 and 2x SATA3 But also planning to insert a mSATA half size SSD directly in the board (yes there is a slot for mSATA half size SSD) for a hypervisor and to use DSM in a VM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Apparently with the newest DSM and nanoboot everything works fine on bare metal! ESX 5.1, 5.5 and 6.0beta are not even installing. Bummer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Mate sorry for the problem you got and especially that me personally have no bright ideas to help get your data back. What I would say is that working with raid arrays is not that easy if you don't have patience. Normally when you enlarge a matrix you do it one drive by another and not with multiple drives once. It takes a lot but it's working Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hi guys, I own a Q1900-ITX and found out that a mSATA half width port was invented, and this after buying a cheap Micron mSATA SSD. Now i can't use the SSD and hoping that this would help: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEDNA-PCI-Expre ... 3cd7f524b5 Did somebody tried SEDNA on XPenology? Eventually i would install ESX on my NAS rig but unfortunately that ain't working and getting stuck at "Installation cannot continue (Relocating modules and starting up kernel...)" Thanks!
  21. Q1900-ITX: http://i.imgur.com/YnhTeXO.png but with this: http://i.imgur.com/3p7WmO2.png on an UPS
  22. Dude, that's overkill! Go for max 2GB ram and a smaller CPU Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. [OffTopic] Why the hell everybody Is calling nanoboot "nano boat"? It's not a boat you know... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. You'll need lots of SATA connectors, a low power x86_64 CPU and max 2GB of RAM (I just changed my GA-E350 with an Q1900-ITX) and just imagine that it consumes 38W/h in full load comparing it with the former board which used to consume 58W. For a NAS that's always powered, you need to be silent, cheap and full of TBs When thinking of costs, have in mind the "always on"factor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. So you're saying xpenology works fine on it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
