  1. Who wants to try this? I will tomorrow as anyhow, the vSphere 5.5 was not installing. Mmmm http://virtualization.info/en/news/2014 ... -beta.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Stop thinking that you want to run DSM from a SSD. It's not working and it's not worth it. Period. Your DSM is feeling way better on all HDDs from the volume you have than on an SSD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Assuming that aggiormaneto is actually "aggiornamento" and you are reffering to a bios update, i just want to say that i had 2 weeks ago the latest bios i could find from BIOS itself. Did I understood correctly that there is a newer bios version and fixes some issues? Thanks Victor
  4. Mnnnnot really... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. 38w still seems a lot given your cpu won't use more then 10W, are you using a picopsu? J I have 5 SATA 7200rpm HDDs. These use about 5-9W each, depends on the HDD. The WD RED are power friendly PS: I have a 450W PSU Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. does anyone have experience in changing the mobo of a XPEnology box? I did it for several colleagues. Very easy if you have basic hardware knowledge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. From what i know from the past, major updates (5.0, 6.0, 6.0.100,etc) need to be installed "the hard" way. The minor updates ("Update 1, Update 3, etc) can be applied also from DSM. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. sobong, just ignore what's written in the info panel. Parts of information from there are hardcoded. You also don't have an i3 CPU, right ? The info panel for the DSM we are using was hardcoded for a specific type of hardware. Generally, I have no idea why a developer would hardcode anything in his code but let's assume is for good reasons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Sorry for not mentioning that I don't use the last version of nanoboot and/or DSM! Hopefully I will switch soon to the new versions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I also have the USB issue but still switching from an AMD E-350 27W TDP to an ASRock 10W TDP is pretty nice in regards to power efficiency. Power consumption dropped from 57W to 38W WOL and schedules are working for me. I tried installing ESX. Quite disappointed it's not working Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. My brand new ASRock Q1900-ITX is also having no reboot issues like i had with the Gigabyte E350
  12. I had been using an Gigabyte E-350 + CPU "Zacate" and worked like a charm. Now I changed it to an ASRock Q1900-ITX for lower power usage and better performance as I wanted to use it with ESXi but ESXi cannot be installed on that MB. I definitively recommend for a native hardware XPeno box the Q1900-ITX. Remember that a NAS should be as power efficient as possible but without affecting performance. The Q1900-ITX is using the Intel J1900 chipset with a quad-core Celeron clocked at 2GHz and with an amazing 10W TDP! Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Take a look at this as stanza's recommendation is pretty good: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. obviously not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Coool. The mofucka made us reinstall our systems Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Or... Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V role and the NAS acting as VM. Fairly complicated, but working from the same device. Still, i guess the hardware should not be entry level and a bit more powerful than what DSM needs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I have one camera. Quite old but working. I find it quite useful to see who messes with my car as it's pointed straight to it. Besides the fact the camera is quite old, it's working.
  18. Nope, it's not working. On the monitor attached to the xpenology box you would see only the linux console and that's all
  19. Yeah, it's working. Look for a thread called perfect ESX install in the how-tos Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. That LSI card, as pretty much every passive component connected to PCI Express consume about 10-15W. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Buy an AsRock Q1900-ITX. It has USB3.0, 4 SATA, and quad CPU with 10W TDP. Hopefully it will work with Xpenology . I'm still waiting for that card to be delivered (drooling) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Not the cabling is the problem but from the cables. Most of the issues come from cheap cables and not from inserting the jack . Glad I could provide some help. Thanks to experience! ) Cheers mate! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I recommend using Acronis with the samba/cifs option from DSM. Synology has it's own backup client for windows but I doubt it is doing bare metal backup and restore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Just have in mind that cat6 rj45 are usually coming with metal shielding. That means that either the rj45 jacks could not fit or fit pretty badly the rj45 mother connectors in most network rquipments. I had this issue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
