I am testing ARPL v1.1-beta1 on Proxmox and I don´t get IP with boot the loader. I think freeze after this capture. I tried with Junior Mode addon and show me DSM login but not IP too. Is there any fix it for this issue?

I bought used H370M-ITX, i5-8400 and 16GB RAM for €158 ($170). I hunted for this motherboard because it has 2x LAN and 6x SATA. I'm getting rid of my Dell 7010 with a Dell Perc H310. I'm on a tight budget so I'll probably order 3x WD Red Plus 4TB drives, the old two WD Red 2TB will be left for non-essential data.

You can use the usb serial port to leave the PCIe slot empty. Here I found drivers for DSM: https://github.com/robertklep/dsm7-usb-serial-drivers

For my needs I don't need additional 2.5Gb or 10Gb NIC, it will aggregate 2x1Gb NIC. I'll probably add a serial port soon.

The cable for the serial connection on my Lantronix Spider KVM requires a 9pin serial port and I have tried a 9pin serial to USB converter but wasn't able to get any output from that configuration. The driver you reference was likely the missing component and is likely an excellent candidate to be added to default ARPL/TCRP installs.

I believe you'll be happy with the H370M-ITX, i5-8400 and 16GB RAM, I would have migrated to a similar configuration (H370M-ITX, i5-9400t and 16GB RAM) if I hadn't found the IMB-1211-D.

This was a set, normally I would buy i5-8x00T because of TDP. I will leave it, I will not burn a dollar to save a dime.

Yes i can confirm this is the best Loader so far working in any states do not forget to add the CPU Governor Command for full performance in the task scheduler

and add with this the correct CPU Information and voila all is working perfect

Regarding the CPU Governor Command, I know that only before the 4gen CPU needs it and it's not necessary (or have a side impact) after 5gen CPU.

Here is my test result (Gen9 CPU) without CPU Governor Command.

Had anyone migrated successfuly (migration. not a fresh install) from DS3615xs DSM6 to DSM7? Maybe DS3622xs is the best solution?

Yes, I did.  I used @Peter SuhM-Shell w/Friend TCRP loader.  I went from DS3615xs on 6.2.3.x to DS3622xs on 7.1.1 in one straight forward flawless upgrade.  Of course, there was some packages that needed to be updated/repaired, and I had more issues getting my Plex functional again....but nothing epic.  You want to be sure when you migrate, that you select the default option to keep your settings and data.  It will be the top option of two listed.

on my dell T30, i'd migrated from 3615xs (DSM6) to 3622xs (DSM7) using arpl-0.4-alpha8 (i believe).

now it's on arpl-1.0-beta13.

yes ... it was a while back ... using one of the arpl-0.4-alphaN versions.

i think once/if the systems boots, via "Synology Assistant" (desktop app), the server shows up as "SynologyNAS" with status "Migrateable" (i believe).

Mine was certainly one step, no in between versions, which is what I thought I would have to do, but this is where @Peter Suh provided the greatest help, aside from creating his awesome tool....that I would be jumping from my current DSM 6.2.3 to 7.1.1 in one action, and of course, changing the model at the same time.  That saved me a lot of worry and concerns. 🤠

Thank you, guys, I'll try it. It's a small office Xpenology NAS running DSM6.2 on Jun's loader flawlessly nearly 3 years. It runs SMB/CIFS in AD environment with complex set of AD users/groups rights within shares, web station serving a few self-written php services, ActiveBackup backing up user's workstations… Not gonna make a disaster during workday. :)

Not that I am specifically advocating it for you, but I manually through the Control Panel, Update/Restore did Update 3, right after the conversion.  Last night, though the changeling appears to have nothing worthy, also did the same to Update 4.  I am not using my setup in a true production environment, other than I expect it to perform and have the same rock solid reliability in my "Xpenology NAS running DSM6.2 on Jun's loader flawlessly nearly 3 years".  I don't need any disaster and things to break either, and this isn't your environment, I just don't have much time to play doctor if it was to fail, hence being hyper-concerned about it.  I even did testing on a 2nd box, so that helped have some warm fuzzies about it at least.  I'm running only RAID 1 on  Dell Optiplex 7010.  I'll be upgrading here in the near future to a Dell Precision 3630 and larger drives.

I'd keep your original USB loader, get a 2nd USB, and build the new loader there, that way you have some fall-back.

Here are few words on testing 1.1-beta-1/2 on my four NAS-es.

On beta1 I had one big issue. It did not work with LSI 9400-16i at least in fresh install mode of ARPL (while LSI 9300-8i worked). And while I decided if I will test it in update menu mode - it changed to beta2... On beta2 there were no problems with 9400 in both update menu and fresh install variants.

So on beta2 I do not have any issues for now. But I have one question. What happened with maxdisks entry in Synoinfo menu? In both betas 1.1. It has a practical value for me for one NAS from four. And for that NAS I chose update by menu mode (where this setting was done previously). In this mode there were no errors really. I got all my 16 hdd-s plus one fake hdd from QEMU. But what about install from scratch?..

And one more thing... 'Direct boot' menu entry is only available when loader is already made. So to see or change this setting one needs to build loader and then go above to advanced menu and then go below twice to boot loader entry. It is some sort of distortion of ARPL menu logic... So 'direct boot' situated not in place... Or it should not be hidden before first loader's build.

Good day. I have such a problem, after loading, the connection with the server disappears, I look at the ping, passes 4 packages, and then silence. I tried to put it as a new one, I also tried to update from the menu, it did not help. He put both on a real PC and on a virtual machine, the problem is the same everywhere. Moreover, the problem began with 1.1b1 and also, the most on 1.1b2, on version 1.0.b13 this is not. Who has come across this, tell me what can be done.

Hi, I want to buy H370M-ITX/ac. This motherboard has two network cards: Intel I219V and I211AT - will both NICs work? The information I found are not unequivocal.

I am using the similar ASRock Z390M-ITX/ac, ARPL with DS3622xs+ is running good in my box with two active network. I configured teaming with two NIC. Hope your Mobo H370M-ITX/ac will good to go also

Test  with dva1622 - arpl 1.1. beta2

system was 8th gen intel cpu on a gigabyte b360m-hd3 (the usual realtek onboard nic) with a added 2port 10G  broadcom nic (bnx2x driver)

2 x sata 525GB ssd , 2 x sata 256GB ssd

-r8169 driver, nic working but fw error seen, dmesg: r8169 0000:02:00.0 eth2: unable to load firmware patch rtl_nic/rtl8168h-2.fw (-11), solved by manual copy of firmware tgz from loader
->no fw files after setup of loader in dsm system /lib/firmware  (just a small bug? but will effect lot of other things like intel qsv probleme too)

-bnx2x, nic not working, dmesg: bnx2x: [bnx2x_init_firmware:13421(eth0)]Can't load firmware file bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.12.30.0.fw

the default fw files from arpl (copied manually to /lib/firmware) di not fix that
after copying my old 6.2.3 fw files (or whats in bnx2x in firmware repository on kernel.org) it works as expected, the firmware files in the firmware.tgz where 7.13 and thats not what the driver need, in theory it can be checked with modinfo (but is also possible to look near "vermagic" with a editor so see that information too)
in general its not enough to just copy the latest firmware files from kernel.org as it depends on the driver and drives from "older" kernels like 4.x need older firmware files then kernel 5.x drivers, there is no fixed rule, it needs to be checked or just all firmware files for that hardware to make sure it will work

-tehuti 10G nic (just used shortly as the 10G braodcom did not work) has no driver, on 6.2.3 it was ok with the original syno driver from 918+ tn40xx.ko, but 2nd tehuti card i own i know has a different phy and did need a better/newer driver to work so it needs a better driver in general for all tehuti based cards to work (had that in 6.2.3 extra.lzma and it was mostly about getting exotic firmware files from oem for different phy's as oem's usually only pack the one firmware they need, there was no universal driver as seen from realtek or intel)

-I kind of miss atlantic.ko (lots of cheap 10G cards with that one) and aqc111.ko (https://github.com/bb-qq/aqc111), both where asked for 6.2.3 extra drivers

-default mod for synoinfo.conf only works with one nic (maxlanport=1), it needs manuall tweaking that is not for beginners, it should detect all nic's and set synionfo.conf accordingly or make it 4 as fixed setting - it might also need more when it comes to mac adresses (netif_num=1 as default needs to be set to 2 or more and mac2, mac3, ...) - atm its problematic to have more then one nic

-defaut config only shows 2 disks in gui (even if 6 ports are detected on loader setup),more disks can be used for raid but cat /proc/mdstat shows only two drives are used (?,2of2)  for the system/swap (two pairs of disks in exaple as SHR1)
for a system with shr1/raid1 that might be ok but usually it should be all disks that hold dsm system/swap
[note: the "raidF1" option the kernel offers, that was not availible on 918+ 6.2.3, thats one reason more to user dva1622)

      8388544 blocks [2/2] [UU]

test of possible disk fails
tested with only disk 3+4 present and it did not boot (8GB + 2GB partitions are present on disk 3+4 but as mdstat indicates are not used)
test with 1+2 booted as expected but had the raid/volume1 shown as "crashed" (shr1 raid not mounted/used), after adding the two missing disks it went back to normal
boot with 2+4 looks messy as it now shows the 2nd disk as disk1 and 4th disk as disk2 (but only as detected), reattaching the two drives did not return the system to normal and shoed disk1 as crashed
its not unexpected as the system/swap raid1 of disk1 was offline and as the shr1 is composed of a raid1 and raid5 (md2 and md3) the raid1 was mounted and with just one disk present in the boot before and now fails because of this (2nd disk has older data), the raid5 is ok as it was not mounted/used in the boot before as two disks where missing

cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid1] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [raidF1]
md2 : active raid5 sata1p5[0] sata4p5[3] sata3p5[2] sata2p5[1]
      700414848 blocks super 1.2 level 5, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [4/4] [UUUU]

md0 : active raid1 sata4p1[0] sata3p1[2](S) sata2p1[1]
      8388544 blocks [2/2] [UU]

the messy part is that its not possible to repair, when using the repair option it tells you to use a new disks (i guess because of the raid5 partition still in use and working)
I deactivated the drive in gui to remove it from all raid sets but there seemed not to be no option to activate it again or make it available to use it with the pool/volume, a reboot fixed that, repair now worked with the disk and raid/volume got back to normal

to "break" the still fine working raid5 was not so good but its still easy to handle as its not needed to use the console (and you had the chance to backup data before doing it)

as my plan is to use a clean raid5 (all disks same size) i will not run in that kind of problem with my final system

but its not intuitive to use as it need some knowledge about the internal workings when having problems and needing to find a way to fix it
