I bought used H370M-ITX, i5-8400 and 16GB RAM for €158 ($170). I hunted for this motherboard because it has 2x LAN and 6x SATA. I'm getting rid of my Dell 7010 with a Dell Perc H310. I'm on a tight budget so I'll probably order 3x WD Red Plus 4TB drives, the old two WD Red 2TB will be left for non-essential data. You can use the usb serial port to leave the PCIe slot empty. Here I found drivers for DSM: https://github.com/robertklep/dsm7-usb-serial-drivers For my needs I don't need additional 2.5Gb or 10Gb NIC, it will aggregate 2x1Gb NIC. I'll probably add a serial port soon.

You meant DS918+ ? Migration may not work - /dev/dri will not be created and transcoding will not work. You need to back up your settings and data, format the disks, and restore data and settings from a backup after reinstalling DSM on clean disks.

I have Dell 7040MT with i7-6700/HD530 and transcoding work OOTB on bare metal (DS918+, ARPL, DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 1) with real serial number and mac. You must have a real serial and mac BEFORE installing DSM, if you change them after installation, transcoding won't work, I haven't found a solution for this. You need to have MAC address in synology scheme (001132xxxxxx), ds model and corresponding with ds model serial number. Only then everything works fine.

I use QuickConnect with my N54L, I set DS3611xs and real serial number, every one option from synology work gr8.

yabba235 I'm advanced user and I can use SSH, but if I can do something faster I do it There is no need to remember update command. fishbob there is everything OK with my N54L and Update 4.

Poechi you can add update commands to the schedule then you download new update, go to schedule and run saved script, then you go back to apply system update. No need to enter SSH.
