  1. It is actually not necessary to use your hardware MAC address. In my case I use a legit SN and MAC of a real 918+ and works just fine.
  2. Well 393 hours, first array is complete, now the 2nd and last one is processing, estimated 15-17 days probably before its completed.
  3. When I was still SHR-1, i had 3x 8TB and 4x 4TB, 1 volume just over 29TB I added a new 8TB to start the processed to SHR-2, once completed will be adding another 4TB and 8TB. I've added plenty of data to my volume, maybe +500GB since I started the process of changing to SHR-2, my question was, what happens to the new data added to the volume while a migration is happening? Is the new data being written to the volume including double parity? Forgot to mention, heck ya when I add huge batches of data, it kills the speed of the resync, just checked, downloading a bunch of movies at 30-40MB\s and my resync is down in the 500kbps range, usually if traffic is light its in the high 2000 to low 3000kbps
  4. I will ask this, maybe some knows.. so there is X amount of data which had 1 parity, now changing to having 2 parity.. that's all great as its reading all the files and figuring stuff about, but due to the nature of how long this takes, I'm constantly adding more and more data in the GB to TB range while this is processing.. is that data written as double parity as I'm adding these new files? or is it caching somewhere to be processed once shr2 migration is completed?
  5. I guess I’m the first risk taker, 152hours, dsm reporting 21.5%, Mdstat shows 43% on first array of 2.
  6. Has anyone ever done this? I decided to convert my volume from SHR-1 to SHR-2 as I'm planning to add more HDD's to the volume and I feel after a while the more hdd's in the array, the greater the risk of failure. its been about 4 days now, storage manager reports 13.4%, mdstat show 26.7% on the first array, but the speed has been slow.. avg in the 2000's and 3000's KBps. Im using a LSI 9211-8i in it mode and some drives direct to mobo. Mobo is gigabyte B365m-ds3h. Loader 1.04 with latest dsm. There was a time i did a repair while still in shr-1, i was hitting well over 100000KBps sometimes hitting 200000, is changing the raid type just that difficult the compute?
  7. What’s your motherboard make and model
  8. Is there a tutorial or guide on how to set it up?
  9. Hey, I've searched and searched but not finding what I'm looking for.. I would like to know if theres a way to make my synology duplicate a file automatically. I have some files that get downloaded periodically to a specific folder, but would like a secondary copy made to another folder within the same volume. Is this possible? Currently I manually do it when the file is created i manually make a secondary copy. Perhaps a scheduled task? Thanks
  10. Ok well close this question, i've figured it out, i removed the "music" folder that was on volume2, rebooted and it came back.. happy camper
  11. Just wanted to add more info, I ssh with my admin account in terminal, and I can see the Music folder with all my files still intact on volume1, how do I remount it without losing the files?
  12. ok so I recently did a migration from my old server which was a ds3615 setup over to new hardware using ds918 now. When I did a migration, things went south and not all of my HDDs showed up initially during migration and cause one of my volumes to crash. After figuring out which drives were at fault and getting them online my volume came back degraded, did a repair and it came back. I have 2 volumes, on volume 1 resided a music folder, it appears after the migration it created a music folder on volume 2. Is the music folder that was originally on volume 1 gone? Is it possible to recover? The TB used is still the same prior and after migration. I’m assuming it’s still there just not mapped anymore.
  13. Weird though, when I initially setup my USB key, I booted the machine with a spare hdd and did the install and it just gave “success true” message, I kept the same USB key and moved my other hdd from my 3615xs setup and did a migration preserving settings, and thought I’d just check and this is the message I got. HW transcoding does work just fine in plex. Maybe I just don’t worry about it...
  14. what does this mean??? {"msg":"SN not in MO.","success":true,"activated_codec":["h264_dec","h264_enc","mpeg4part2_dec","hevc_dec","vc1_dec","vc1_enc"],"token":

So I've recently acquired this card, it is flashed in IT mode, ive been playing around with a couple spare drives before going live with it.. when i plug in a drive in port 1 or 2 on any of the 4 sata cables, its always in the same position in DSM.. normal?
  16. If you have a spare HDD and USB key, flash 1.03b to a new usb key with vid/pid of course... and dissconnect all your existing hard drives and install the spare one, try and boot with new usb key to see if it works or not.. if it does, you'll ultimately be limited to 6.2, you could always purchase a relatively inexpensive intel nic card if you wanted to go beyond 6.2.
  17. Its usually quite safe to apply minor updates such as 6.1.7 update 1,2,3 etc.. I suggest you download the update pat file and manually install it via gui.
  18. Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 3 - Loader version and model: Jun's Loader v1.04b - DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: No - Installation type: BAREMETAL - Asus H310M-C, i5-8400, On-board Realtek nic - Additional comments: Reboot required, super fast
  19. General comment for folks on here; does having legit sn/Mac with xpenology allow the use of real camera licenses?
  20. Did you ever get your “ton of licenses” installed? i got a xpen ds918 with legit sn/Mac for plex transcoding purposes, curious if it’s just that is required for camera licenses to work instead of doing dsm VM’s
  21. I have solved my problem.. looks like there are options in the cpu core settings, i have to use cpu compatibily and disable hyper-v all good
  22. well i got this problem figured out, tried various loaders.. all had same issue.. i decided to update firmware and load default settings in bios.. power off behaves correctly now.. now onto other issues...
  23. Did you ever end up building this system? If you did how well does it work? I'm having issues and have a asus h310m-c
