  1. Which DSM version/release are you running ?
  2. Are you looking to mirror the internet ? Great post and would be one hell of a project to DIY. For me though if I were looking for that high-spec a system then I'd buy a dedicated, supported, guaranteed NAS from Synology. Let us know how you get on !
  3. There are reports on a synology forum thread of people with 4.2 systems getting hacked.
  4. Be careful of connecting up to the internet with this version of DSM. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2049 There are some posts in that thread which state that DSM4.2 isn't affected but on the synology forum thread referenced some people are reporting their DSM4.2 systems were hacked.
  5. You will need to remove the virus yourself. Have a look here for some clues -> http://blog.jandorsman.com/blog/synolog ... -preloaded The author of that article doesn't seem to edit the rc.local file to remove the creation of a bitcoin mining process so check that also.
  6. If you have SSH enabled then try logging into that as user "root" using your admin password. Then have a look at the following link http://blog.jandorsman.com/blog/synolog ... -preloaded If you get it resolved then apply the 3810 Update 4 patch asap to fix the vulnerability.
  7. DiskStation> ls -l button.ko -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12665 Nov 16 17:46 button.ko DiskStation> pwd /lib/modules DiskStation>
  8. The files in the "cache" directory are precompiled PHP files, the main queue.php (text) file is probably in the forum/ directory and is the one which should be changed if required. If changed then the "Purge Cache" operation needs to be performed in the forum admin control panel (worth admin doing this anyway). I think the queue.php file is responsible for initiation of any EMail messages which the forum sends out. Perhaps someone's entered some new EMail server details in the control panel and the values are illegal/corrupt ? (unlikely)
  9. The post still gets completed though so please don't hit the refresh button to retry. We're seeing lots of duplicate threads because of this.
  10. +1 I'd recommend not selecting the default creation of one SHR volume from all available disks and add this in as a separate activity post-install. The various options can be discussed then i.e. SHR vs RAID-n etc
  11. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2049 (read all of it) DSM4.3 3810 has a vulnerability. You've probably got the infection mentioned in the above thread.
  12. As the guys above have mentioned, if you attempt to perform a major update (the 4.3.3810 -> 4.3-3827 is a major update) using the DSM update facility then it won't work. I had a look inside the major update files downloaded and it's basically a new .pat file from Synology, so this won't contain all the kernel tweaks etc used by xpenology.
  13. SS uses a Postgres DB to hold all its config info in (including licence information). You can quite easily interrogate the DB and see all the tables etc. Doing anything useful with the information however is another story.

    Error

Yes, I've PM'd the site admin but they haven't picked up the message*. I *think* the error is related to the board's EMail notification facility. The post still gets made but gives an error page. People then resubmit the request and we end up with loads of duplicate threads. * probably because the EMail which notifies the PM recipient that they have a message failed.
  15. Right click on the file(s) and select "move" rather than drag and drop ? Or open up the NAS in your windows "Network" explorer and use windows to move the files (this is what I do). You do need to enable windows networking on the NAS to do this obviously.
  16. Seven threads! Edit: looks like there's a forum bug which gives an error upon submitting a post. The post is actually made but no confirmation is given.
  17. Hi, I see the same problem. Sometimes the NAS appears in the Windows Network list, other times it doesn't. If it's not listed then I just enter \\DiskStation into a windows explorer toolbar to see the NAS contents, in your case it would be \\servidor
  18. He mentioned this in his post You're talking about the DSM4.3-3827 update 1 version which is only available via the Synology DSM Update control panel (not an earlier version downloadable from here) ?
  19. Hiya, I've recently install xpenology on a N54L (making use of the recent £100 cashback deals). Auto-on - doesn't work (my workaround would be to set lots of timed-startup events, perhaps one for each hour, timed-startup does work ) WOL - does work (not from cold though, if you've started the box and then shut it down with the power still connected then WOL will work, if you apply power to the box but don't start it up then WOL won't work; so basically the NIC needs to have been initialised) HDD spin down - does work I've stuck with the default 2Gb RAM and it's fine, showing minimal memory usage so far. I'm on the stock BIOS also, I did update it to the latest available HP version though.
  20. Here I would imagine -> http://ukdl.synology.com/download/DSM/4.3/
  21. Are you deselecting the "format drives as SHR" option (not exact option name but similar) when you setup the system ? If you don't then it may try and format your install drive and corrupt it.
  22. When you use Synology Assistant to install DSM etc, is the checkbox asking if you want to create SHR volumes set (think it is by default)? If so then next time, uncheck it. I think otherwise DSM may try and add your SD card to a SHR volume and corrupt it.
  23. I fixed the Grub22 by following the instructions here http://www.wijngaard.org/virtual-synology-with-dsm-4-3/ Specifically around the unchecking the unchecking of "‘Create a Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) volume after installation’." in the Synology Assistant when setting up the system (Setup section, point 5) and the copying of the vdi file back into the VM folder (Setup section, point 7) following the initial Grub22 error. You then create the volumes in DSM. Worked for me.
