  1. I cannot get this to work. Can someone share a step by step guide? much thanks
  2. Hi, Do you mean to extract synoboot.img, take the image.img from there, and then remove the zimage, extra.lzma and rd.gz ? Can we just take the image.img file from one loader to replaced in the other loader?
  3. Change you change the network vnic back to vmxnet3 after updating? will it affect future DSM updates?
  4. sorry, very noobie question. How exactly do I incorporate these new drivers with the bootloader? Baremetal 1.02B loader
  5. Requesting for infiniband drivers for Mellanox CX2 and above cards for the current loaders. thanks!
  6. Thank you @filippo333 So if my media(eg movies, tv shows) is in volume 2, would my plex files be in volume 1 usually? What are the typical folder in 7a? Would it be better( eg ease of plex clients finding plex media server) if net is bridge or host mode? thank you
  7. HI Haydibe, Can you explain 7a onwards in closer detail please? I do not quite understand. much thanks
  8. I would also be keen on the infiniband drivers for 6.1
  9. @IG-88 would you happen to have infiniband drivers for the latest 1.02b loader?

I also used starwind converter after editing the grub file in the synoboot.img, to the vmdk file. It worked well this way Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

I understand that will be the way for bare metal installation. I was referring to changing to a loader if my installation was as VM in ESXI 6 I am already on the latest 6.1.1 but I wish to update to the latest 1.02b loader , to be ready for future synology updates Much thanks for help on changing loader for an esxi installation.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

I did a fresh install on Esxi 6 with the 1.02a 3615 loader. All ok so far How do I update my loader to the newer 1.02b, in anticipation for the next update from Synology?
  15. Thanks NeoID. I started from scratch to prepare the VM and it works fine now with the HBA controller. I used Jun's 3615 1.02a loader. I also agree with you about the disadvantages of RDM drives as opposed to passthrough HBA controller. For one, if any of the RDM drives fail, the entire VM will not start
  16. HI NeoID, Which exact loader did you use for your LSI 9201-16i to work in esxi?
  17. I have the same problem as you. I suspect the 6.0 loader does not have the drivers for 9201-16i, unlike the 5.2 loader
  18. Hi Koroziv, Thank you very much for all your work. Which loader that you have supplied, for the latest VM u created. I am using on esxi 6
  19. Does anyone still have a link to infiniband drivers that work with xpenology 5.2, and how to get round to installing it? much thanks
  20. Hi Haydibe, how exactly do you do that please? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  21. What does "anything" meaning. Being more specific would help figuring out what your situation is. This said if what I understand is correct, a read of the OP should answer your question. Let me know if it doesn't. Hi, "anything" means all see on the screen in a blank, black screen. No grub menu. Not even an error message.
  22. I have setup on bare metal , a fresh DSM 6 on my supermicro X8SIL motherboard. Everything is fine except that I can never see anything on the screen via the vga connection. I did enable the serial port on the motherboard through the bios. Is there anything else I need to do to be able to see the grub screen? much thanks for this really helpful tutorial

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

It actually does just fine. Just create a new VM with OS Microsoft (whatever version supports EUFI), add a USB controller and USB device, enable EUFI boot in the advanced settings en have the VM boot in UEFI directly. Then just choose the USB drive as boot disk and have fun. That's what I did. I use 2 USB sticks to run everything: Bootdevice USB1 = ESXi (boots the Baremetal) Bootdevice USB2 = Synology (boots through ESXi in VM) Hi Wolfwood, Can you detail how you put the raw mapped drives into your esxi setup for this VM? Much thanks
