Hi,
Do you mean to extract synoboot.img, take the image.img from there, and then remove the zimage, extra.lzma and rd.gz ? Can we just take the image.img file from one loader to replaced in the other loader?
Thank you @filippo333
So if my media(eg movies, tv shows) is in volume 2, would my plex files be in volume 1 usually?
What are the typical folder in 7a?
Would it be better( eg ease of plex clients finding plex media server) if net is bridge or host mode?
thank you
I also used starwind converter after editing the grub file in the synoboot.img, to the vmdk file. It worked well this way Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
I understand that will be the way for bare metal installation. I was referring to changing to a loader if my installation was as VM in ESXI 6
I am already on the latest 6.1.1 but I wish to update to the latest 1.02b loader , to be ready for future synology updates
Much thanks for help on changing loader for an esxi installation.
I did a fresh install on Esxi 6 with the 1.02a 3615 loader. All ok so far
How do I update my loader to the newer 1.02b, in anticipation for the next update from Synology?
Thanks NeoID. I started from scratch to prepare the VM and it works fine now with the HBA controller. I used Jun's 3615 1.02a loader.
I also agree with you about the disadvantages of RDM drives as opposed to passthrough HBA controller. For one, if any of the RDM drives fail, the entire VM will not start
