  1. Does DS3622xs+ have tranconding like the 918+? Thanks!!
  2. Hey @pkdick1, can you tell me how you configure docker in synology to make diskspeed work? Can you share the configuration file and if it needs other packages installed? Thanks
  3. @sunnyqeen any chance to do something similar for DSM7? LOL
  4. 1) So sad... I guess he didn't even said it and just left, right? I had hopes, seriously. 2) I can have some time, but not that much. With Jun's was so easy and I was able to make it work very quick. 3) Gotcha 4) I will stick with it for the moment. I don't see any benefit from moving to DSM 7, to be honest. Can anyone explain if there are? I just thought that as time passed, maybe this was more mature. Thanks for your nice and structured reply. That's very useful, thanks!
  5. Again, came back after a while (I have been busy changing jobs), and again, I don't know how to even start. Apart from the first post which is highly outdated, I don't know if there were any advances on it, if it is usable, or how to start or whatever. Looks like the original poster ThorGroup is not even replying since long time ago... is it abandoned like jun? No change logs, just a huge thread, that seriously I don't have the time to read the 144 pages of it... Don't get me wrong I appreciate there are people working/using it. I am just lost and a little guidance should be great. I am still very happy with my Xpenology baremetal Asrock H370M-ITX 918+ with last jun loader. Is stable and works well, but I wouldn't mind to update if it is reliable enough. Not interested in VM but baremetal. Thanks!!
  6. Looks very nice. When are you putting this project in the loader section? It looks like the first page is not edited since a long time. If there are new changes/features/updates/faqs/links to builds, should be great to have it edited in the first page (like version history/time-lined...). Is very hard to follow through that huge unorganized thread right now. Just my opinion. Such a great job! Thanks
  7. DMS 7.0 final is out. I am able to update mine through the updates in the DSM Control Panel. Obviously not having a loader that works, I will not do it.
  8. Was anyone even able to contact or have any contact with Jun at all? He is not replying since 2018... And last connection on March. Hopefully I am wrong, but it doesn't look good.
  9. Sure, 100% agree about fancy features. But IMHO, I don't think make a dark theme, just creates any kind of problem... It should be as complicated as create a css for them as at the end of the day is just a web. I think I am not talking about any fancy feature, which is included even in the new BIOS (EFI) today... I mean, is pretty basic stuff.
  10. I know, I am talking about, what I was expecting on DSM 7.0 natively
  11. I was expecting this: https://mariushosting.com/synology-dsm-dark-mode/ Which by the way, I could kill for a dark theme for this forum . In the night it just kill my eyes...
  12. So you were able to get installed with the current loaders? I have seen is virtual machined... Is still not fully dark themed? I thought it was... light themes just hurt my eyes, LOL
  13. Hello I am not sure if I am able to put this here. Feel free to move/delete it if so. I had found in reddit a pastebin with the source of DSM 7.0 alpha (or beta). https://pastebin.com/grhU8ShD I think that having access to it in the community is beneficial. Thanks, E.
  14. I know. I just couldn't find the process (with ps). Don't know why... And maybe as it was done with the schedule, someone could know a way to stop it in the UI/manager in DSM, as is in the boot up event.
  15. Does it work in any xpenology or is locked to their hardware? Thanks for the info
  16. I wouldn't mind to pay for it either, the proposed solution here, doesn't work well. Did someone circumvent the problem? I repeat that I don't mind to pay the 4 dollars.
  17. Could you please be more precise. Can you let us know your thoughts in detail? I will like to take advantage of the script, but at the same time I want my computer snappy. And I notice a little slow lately. Thanks By the way, I use the scaler with the following command line in the task scheduler (at boot-up event): lowload=025 midload=065 /volume1/Filer/Configuration\ DSM/cpu\ frequency\ scaling/scaler.sh & How can I change the values and update the running task with the new values safely. I guess if I change the values and save it, it will not change the current process, how can I do it then without restarting the machine?
  18. Yep, I think that no hardware transcoding is a no go... Even though thank you very much for all the valuable explanations as I think I have now a better understanding of it. Xpenology is great, I am using it for more than a year now, and being a previous original synology owner (DS1512+), I think that xpenology totally worth it as it is completely stable and works amazingly well being MUCH more powerful than the original machines and a fraction of the cost and totally functional. What you said about compiling a new kernel should be great!! Is it that hard to do it? Did someone attempted and succeeded already?? Is it possible to do it without recompiling the kernel and using Vanilla kernel doing patches in the fly in a loader like clover or opencore like in hackintosh community? Just thinking loud, don't know if any of this is even possible...
  19. Gotcha. Just one question. Let's say that I have configured my NAS with my 5x8Tb HDs with the DS918+ (not knowing that limitation). How can I use now the DS3617xs without starting from scratch... as I don't think if a change my USB boot from 1.04b to 1.03b will do the magic... right?
  20. I know that was purely aesthetic and not enabling anything, but as I suspected, there is really a limitation of the hardware itself. Thanks for the details, didn't know about them. Is there any way to break the limitation to get the full use of the cores here? The improvement for some people could be huge...
  21. Please add to the macOS tutorial, how to mount the other partition, in order to modify the extra.lzma/extra2.lzma: mkdir /tmp/partition2 sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk2s2 /tmp/partition2 Although I find a problem to eject/unmount it properly... and that's why I wanted to have some help with that I said the same in the most recent thread too.
  22. 23. Still doesn't work for me either. As I said in the page 6. Mine is a i7 8700, and is 6 cores - 12 thread, and still is saying 6 cores / 8 threads, it looks like we never see more than 8, being enabled perfectly in the BIOS.
  24. Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but I don't know how DSM is structured. I know that part of the space of the hard disks are not part of the filer but the SO itself (that's why we have much less space when we create volumes) it is a pity is not in another external drive instead of wasting space there. Coming back to the structure, I don't know how it is mapped in the hard disk, I mean, which is the part of the OS, which is limited, I understand why is mapped with places in the Volume, just to not waste space, and survive updates (unless the symlinks are deleted in the folder where is mapped, with a DSM update which overrides everything). I guess with File Station, we are not able to see the whole structure of it and just with and ssh, we can see and navigate correctly. That's why most of us, don't know how is the real structure, as we just can see the Volume/s. Could you please, brief me the basic paths and maps of the file structure? Sorry about it, I am sure is super basic, but I don't know. For that I need to know a little bit about how is structured. It seems is not a usual linux system map. I will take a look for sure. It is not free. Maybe it will change with DSM 7.0, but is still paid. Being xpenology so good (I am coming for an original DS1512+ product during so many years), and how well it works, I am looking forward to see a new loader for the DSM 7 which is supposed to be released soon. I am a little bit worried since there is no change in the loaders for a long time (I always used the 1.04b), which works pretty well. Thanks for all your useful information.
