Using the DS3617xs image on my system in the signature below, works fine, however many synocommunity packages aren't available. Not sure if they are on a 3615xs which I used when on DSM 5.2 where these packages were available. So it could be DSM 6.1 or the 'hardware' version you run, not sure... Currently I'm using Docker to run apps like Sabnzbd and Sonarr which is working quite well I must say, I might even like this better than running these apps natively on DSM (if it were possible). There's some discussion about using hardware transcoding on DSM with apps like Plex. I can only guess that's what you want to use quicksync for, but it's unclear to me whether it works and it depends on the exact hardware configuration, especially with Xeon CPU's. It seems I had some trouble getting SMB to work with Kodi aswell, but the problem was solved when changing the settings in DSM to allow for SMB1 to be the minimum required version. When you set it higher SMB shares won't work with Kodi, tried with latest versions on both Android and LibreElec, so I gues they don't support newer versions of SMB.

l45er Posted July 23, 2017 Share #3500 Posted July 23, 2017 Just to report in - I have an Intel Pentium G4560, Asus Prime B250M-K motherboard and 8GB RAM running the DS916+ 1.02b loader in baremetal config. It's running DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 1. The same hardware was previously running DS3615XS 6.1.3-15152 Update 1 with loader 1.02b perfectly fine, but I decided to migrate to DS916+ image today to see if I could make use of the hardware transcoding abilities. At this stage, I can't get hardware transcoding working as there is no /dev/dri/ folder present. lsmod run from root returns the following: Reveal hidden contents Module Size Used by iscsi_target_mod 220879 1 bridge 54557 0 stp 1549 1 bridge aufs 180773 994 macvlan 8702 0 veth 4263 0 xt_REDIRECT 1534 0 xt_nat 1769 7 xt_conntrack 3129 5 xt_addrtype 2685 2 ipt_MASQUERADE 1634 8 iptable_nat 2582 1 nf_nat_ipv4 3304 1 iptable_nat nf_nat 11749 5 ipt_MASQUERADE,nf_nat_ipv4,xt_nat,xt_REDIRECT,ip table_nat target_core_ep 48947 2 target_core_file 30961 1 target_core_iblock 19742 1 target_core_mod 371585 13 target_core_iblock,iscsi_target_mod,target_core _ep,target_core_file syno_extent_pool 1290970 0 rodsp_ep 74746 2 syno_extent_pool,target_core_file cifs 246728 0 udf 81376 0 isofs 32127 0 loop 17423 0 nfsd 257010 67 exportfs 3514 1 nfsd rpcsec_gss_krb5 24771 0 hid_generic 1113 0 usbhid 25479 0 hid 82660 2 hid_generic,usbhid usblp 10474 0 uhci_hcd 22739 0 ehci_pci 3560 0 ehci_hcd 40220 1 ehci_pci xt_mac 947 0 xt_geoip 3022 0 compat_xtables 2204 0 nf_conntrack_ipv6 6163 2 nf_defrag_ipv6 22377 1 nf_conntrack_ipv6 ip6table_filter 1324 1 ip6_tables 15744 1 ip6table_filter xt_recent 8336 0 xt_iprange 1440 0 xt_limit 1713 5 xt_state 1095 0 xt_tcpudp 2271 22 xt_multiport 1622 0 xt_LOG 12228 0 nf_conntrack_ipv4 11260 4 nf_defrag_ipv4 1203 1 nf_conntrack_ipv4 nf_conntrack 53008 8 ipt_MASQUERADE,nf_nat,xt_state,nf_nat_ipv4,xt_co nntrack,iptable_nat,nf_conntrack_ipv4,nf_conntrack_ipv6 iptable_filter 1320 1 ip_tables 14979 2 iptable_filter,iptable_nat x_tables 15448 19 ip6table_filter,xt_iprange,xt_recent,ip_tables, xt_tcpudp,ipt_MASQUERADE,compat_xtables,xt_geoip,xt_limit,xt_state,xt_conntrack, xt_LOG,xt_mac,xt_nat,xt_multiport,iptable_filter,xt_REDIRECT,ip6_tables,xt_addrt ype braswell_synobios 47655 0 ax88179_178a 12076 0 usbnet 17845 1 ax88179_178a tg3 152576 0 r8169 55203 0 ixgbe 152067 0 cnic 54911 0 bnx2 74593 0 vmxnet3 38149 0 pcnet32 31106 0 e1000 100595 0 sfc 156347 0 netxen_nic 98324 0 qlge 79466 0 qlcnic 229592 0 qla3xxx 36993 0 pch_gbe 33907 0 ptp_pch 5710 1 pch_gbe sky2 47246 0 skge 29715 0 jme 34553 0 ipg 15901 0 uio 7600 1 cnic alx 26065 0 atl1c 34444 0 atl1e 28404 0 atl1 31078 0 libphy 18253 1 tg3 mii 3763 8 ipg,jme,atl1,r8169,usbnet,pch_gbe,pcnet32,ax8817 9_178a btrfs 880909 2 nfsd i915 896981 0 drm_kms_helper 77262 1 i915 cfbfillrect 3738 1 i915 cfbcopyarea 3246 1 i915 cfbimgblt 2159 1 i915 output 1612 0 drm 245894 2 i915,drm_kms_helper fb 32636 3 drm,i915,drm_kms_helper fbdev 758 1 fb intel_agp 10704 0 intel_gtt 12088 2 i915,intel_agp agpgart 26307 3 drm,intel_agp,intel_gtt video 10824 1 i915 backlight 3888 2 i915,video button 4440 1 i915 synoacl_vfs 17118 2 zlib_deflate 20828 1 btrfs hfsplus 93058 0 md4 4129 0 hmac 2689 0 libcrc32c 898 0 mdio 3229 3 alx,sfc,ixgbe compat 4521 0 r8168 500306 0 igb 177156 0 i2c_algo_bit 5120 2 sfc,i915 e1000e 170873 0 fuse 76906 0 vfat 10335 0 fat 50639 1 vfat crc32c_intel 13793 2 aesni_intel 43613 0 glue_helper 4057 1 aesni_intel lrw 3269 1 aesni_intel gf128mul 5466 1 lrw ablk_helper 1676 1 aesni_intel arc4 1832 0 cryptd 6956 2 aesni_intel,ablk_helper ecryptfs 79797 1 btrfs sha512_generic 5064 0 sha256_generic 10452 0 sha1_generic 2390 0 ecb 1841 0 aes_x86_64 7295 1 aesni_intel authenc 6236 0 des_generic 16483 0 ansi_cprng 3732 0 cts 3992 0 md5 2689 0 cbc 2504 0 cpufreq_powersave 918 0 cpufreq_performance 922 4 acpi_cpufreq 6678 0 mperf 1067 1 acpi_cpufreq processor 26076 5 acpi_cpufreq thermal_sys 17969 2 video,processor cpufreq_stats 2849 0 freq_table 2372 2 cpufreq_stats,acpi_cpufreq dm_snapshot 26122 0 crc_itu_t 1259 1 udf crc_ccitt 1259 0 quota_v2 3711 2 quota_tree 7770 1 quota_v2 psnap 1709 0 p8022 971 0 llc 3489 4 stp,p8022,psnap,bridge sit 14674 0 tunnel4 2053 1 sit ip_tunnel 11448 1 sit ipv6 304625 250 sit,cnic,rodsp_ep,nf_defrag_ipv6,nf_conntrack_ ipv6 zram 8073 2 sg 25201 0 etxhci_hcd 86250 0 megaraid_sas 75118 0 megaraid 40306 0 megaraid_mbox 29219 0 megaraid_mm 7808 1 megaraid_mbox vmw_pvscsi 15623 0 BusLogic 21633 0 usb_storage 47901 0 xhci_hcd 85788 0 ohci_hcd 21192 0 usbcore 176526 14 etxhci_hcd,usblp,uhci_hcd,usb_storage,ohci_hcd, ehci_hcd,ehci_pci,usbhid,usbnet,ax88179_178a,xhci_hcd usb_common 1544 1 usbcore el000 17104 0 Hide I'll keep testing and report back if I manage to get hardware transcoding to work.
