  1. I am current using DS361xs DSM Platform with 5 x HDD and 4 x SSD. If I switch to DS918, would there be any issues? Also, what is the importance of the recommended Processor? Currently, I am running 1.02b DS3617xs DSM Platform on Intel i7-920 (Bloomfield) processor. Tariq
  2. I successfully upgraded from 5.2 to 6.1.3. However, just today I received the following message after I restarted the DSM: DSM on your DS3617xs has been reset so you are required to re-install DSM. Has anyone ever seen this message before??? Thanks!
  3. What is the difference between DS3615xs, DS3617xs and DS916+ images?
  4. I am thinking of adding a USB 3.0 PCI-E to my Xpenology box. Currently on version 5.2 but would like to upgrade to version 6.1 using Jun's Loader. Has anyone been able to use a USB 3.0 PCI-E card in their Xpenology box that works with version 6.1? Please let me know so I can buy one with driver support. Thanks, Tariq
  5. Hi trublu, When you say USB LAN adapter, which make/model did you use?
  6. tomtcs, I am too having the same issue. The NIC is not activating. Are you also using a RealTek NIC?
  7. Without serial connection there is not much that can be done to help. Someone else with the same NIC was able get it to show up by plugging in a usb network and then all the NICs showed up. Do you have one to try? Don't really have an answer for this yet as I haven't seen the bug. Do I need to have a serial port for the serial connection to work? I plugged in a WiFi USB dongle and still no luck.
  8. Please re-download again. Just updated it should be working now. You can ignore terminal "serial" isn't found. Tried the version. The NIC is still not starting up. What can I do? I checked the DHCP lease and nothing new there. I tried DSM 5.2 and when the NIC driver detects the hardware, the orange indicator light for the NIC port turns green. With DSM 6.0 it stays orange and no new DHCP lease shows up.
  9. Hey quicknick, I am still getting error: terminal "serial" isn't found using the baremetal install. The NIC for motherboard Asus P6T SE which is Realtek® 8111C PCIe Gigabit LAN is not working. I checked the DHCP lease and don't see it there. Are the drivers missing for the NIC?
  10. I am getting error: terminal "serial" isn't found when I go in the configuration tool. Also, my Realtek NIC 8111C driver did not load, it seems like. Used find.synology.com and it did not find the NAS. Do I need to modify vid/pid?
  11. Take a look at Quicknick's new loader and boot tool his build looks like it supports your RTL8111C nic viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24308#p81999 The downloads are linked in the second post viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24308#p81997 for full details start reading from post one. Thanks for pointing me to that post. I was not aware about other developments. That post should be stickied somewhere.
  12. I am not able to find the NAS. Looks like the bootloader does not have drivers for my NIC RealTek 8111C. Anybody know how difficult is it to add? In Xpenology 5.2, NIC worked fine. Thanks!

  14. Alright, I fixed the problem. I installed 5.1-5022 bootloader into the USB stick and booted from that. It then showed "Migratable" again. Then I used the associated PAT file to install the OS. Then I took the latest bootloader of 5.2. Finally, I installed the latest PAT file. Unfortunately, I had to do a clean install so I lost all my applications but some settings remained. Luckily, my data stayed intact.
  15. I am getting a message on Synology Assistant and the web that my Xpenology Status is "Recoverable". Not gettting "Migratable" anymore. What should I do?
  16. I can also get to the Recovery Wizard from the web page. When I click on recover, it restarts and does nothing.
  17. I was following the normal procedure of upgrading the USB stick to 5.2-5967 Bootloader. In Synology Assistant, the Status read "Migratable". I followed the wizard BUT when I got to the DSM selection screen, I accidentally picked the option where it downloads the update from the web. It seems like it downloaded DSM version 6 and my bootloader is 5.2-5967. Now in Synology Assistant, I am getting a Status "Recoverable". I have tried to recover many times and my machine only reboots and does not else. Can someone advice or direct me with a solution on how I can go back to a working Xpenology Box. Thanks for your help in advance. - T
