About Me

  1. So you did not understand my point. No matter what driver will actually work. He could make latest 4090 RTX works on NAS system. As long as you/he/anyoned do not rebuild Surveillance Station SPK to accept these cards, you will only use these drivers to have HW transcoding capabilities for software like plex etc... but never for Surveillance Station AI features. No matter if nvidia-smi detect your card. if it is the same as DVA1622, Surveillance Station will generate some dump/core crash files on the filesystem in loop. If you are lucky, DVA3221 Surveillance Station SPK is not hardcoded like DVA1622 is... and then my point is irrelevant.
  2. Please tell us your CPU model. Your question doesn't say the CPU model anywhere. There are only so many CPUs with 12 cores. The i7-8700 you mentioned below has 6 cores and 12 threads. https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/13030-dsm-5x6x7x-cpu-name-cores-infomation-change-tool/?do=findComment&comment=451802 The standard for determining the Intel CPU generation related to transcoding is the presence of the movbe command. https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill/blob/38def125c2e7072515951845d1f58f46e92f83a3/menu_m.sh#L582 If you want to forcefully select DS918+ from the model selection list in mshell, Just select Remove Restrictions at the bottom again. You must provide accurate information so that I can give you an accurate answer.
  3. @Peter Suh Just took the plunge of switching from regular tcrp to your tcrp with M-shell. Burnt the v.1.0.0.0 img to usb and now im at the loader menu only to see that it doesnt list 918+ as a model to build for???? How come? is there an override to set that model? ive been on a 918+ build for a long time and wnt to stay on that for hardware video transcoding etc... Is your tcrp somehow detecting i have a 12 core cpu and only listing models that support that # of cpus?
  4. MoetaYuko Thank you again. SA6400, which stabilized transcoding, was officially released to TCRP-mshell a while ago. I have completed verification on the 4th, 11th, and 13th generations of Intel, and will conduct additional verification on other generation CPUs. Is this possible for Ryzen GPU as well? I wonder.
  5. [NOTICE] TCRP-MSHELL SA6400 i915 transcoding stabilization notice A few days ago, when updating SA6400-7.2.1 U3, there was a fatal error when automatically patching the RAM disk, so I fixed it. There was one more error left. When automatic updates occur, not only ramdisk patches but also kernel patches occur. The kernel patch script for kernel 5 was in the friend tools folder developed by @pocopico. This script was not complete. So there was a problem that resulted in a kernel panic. Stabilize the same by referring to ARPL's patch script. Today I upgraded the FRIEND kernel to version 0.0.9i. Currently, this version is verified by @MoetaYuko for Intel 4th, 11th, and 13th generations (a stable version that replaced the existing @jimmmmm version) It has been replaced with the i915.ko file. You can apply it by rebuilding the TCRP-mshell loader. It seems that all processors from the 4th generation of Intel that were previously capable of transcoding will be capable of transcoding. I think users should verify it one by one and give feedback. Status of automatic update up to SA6400-7.2.1 U3 and presence of /dev/dri folder This confirms the stable loading status of the i915 module. I haven't been able to check the HW transcoding message because I don't have a plex pass yet, but if you have a pass, (HW) will likely appear. I confirmed that even with SW transcoding, it played well while maintaining a CPU load of 7%. No additional activation processing for transcoding, such as installing AME, etc. was done. The serial number is also a virtual serial number randomly generated by TCRP.

  8. DS3622xs+ is recommended for Intel 2nd generation CPU. If transcoding is required, an Intel 4th generation or higher or Atom series CPU is required.
  9. Hello everyone. I'm new with xpenlogy so please be understanding. I've bought based Alder Lake CPU (N100) Aoostar R1 minipc. I would like to install xpenology using DS3622xs+ image. Could you tell me- does xpenology supports transcoding for this CPU (Intel UHD Graphics 24EUs (Alder Lake-N))?
  10. Hello everyone, I've managed to compile the up-to-date out-of-tree i915 kernel module for sa6400, with support for up to 14th gen (Raptor Lake) Intel GPU in theory. I've verified jellyfin HW transcoding on my N100 box (12th gen, Alder Lake), in both PCIe passthrough and SR-IOV VF mode. The source code is available at https://github.com/MoetaYuko/intel-gpu-i915-backports/tree/redhat/main-epyc7002, which can be built on the cloud w/ github actions. You can find the precompiled blobs from github actions artifacts of this repo. The driver is considered alpha quality because I haven't used it long. Feel free to try it and report issues here if any. In case of missing firmware, you'll see error messages w/ the desired FW filename in dmesg. They can be downloaded at https://github.com/intel-gpu/intel-gpu-firmware and put in `/lib/firmware/i915` of your DSM. For SR-IOV with PVE hypervisor, I highly recommend using the dkms driver published at https://github.com/MoetaYuko/intel-gpu-i915-backports/releases (its source code is available at `backport/main` branch of the same repo). It has three major advantages over the popular host driver from https://github.com/strongtz/i915-sriov-dkms: Its Intel release tag is the same as my sa6400 driver, so the best compatibility is ensured. It's packaged as .deb so it can be easily installed and upgraded via apt/dpkg. The .ko binaries reside in `/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/updates/dkms` so they won't override the ones provided by the proxmox-kernel package.
  11. Hi, I just migrated from DS918+ on Z230 SFF, first to ARPL DS920, and now for testing to DVR1622 on m-shell. Everything is working. All upgrade is OK. As I remember TCRP has faster VM than ARPL and i can see it. Everything is working on Z240 Sff with i7-6700T. Even m.2 navm storage pool is working, error about unsupported disk typ gon after repair pool. I cant only see that i have m.2 disk in slot as i could see in DS920 on ARPL. I have 2 questions 1. LAN card in HP is i219-LM but m-shell and also new ARPL recognise as e1000. 2. Second card (WiFi USB - just for test) is not recognised in free time i need to test hardware transcoding is working, and find ip cam to check face recognition. In AME everything looks good Great job with loader.
  12. I am glad that this worked for you. The only way to activate or load the license just installed is trying to transcoding something using Video Station (Transco OffLine with a movie with codec supported like AC3 (You don't need to wait to finish this transcodification to other quality)) and then you will have activated your license, not only installed. Then, you will can to install the Wrapper (ADVANCED or SIMPLEST one) in order to play movies with EAC3, DTS, AAC, TrueHD. The installation script for my Wrapper needs to have the AME License installed and ACTIVATED or LOADED. I will wait for your feedback. Best regards.
  13. Just an Update from my side: I have set up the ASRock N100DC-ITX, with an USB memory stick and installed the newest DSM 7.2 via arpl-i18n. I chose DS918+ in order to be able to use transcoding. To be able to use transcoding, you will need to generate an SN and MAC prior to building the loader. You can do this when configuring the loader, as the generator is integrated there. after installing dsm, I used the following links to install the licence fix for AME. https://github.com/darknebular/Wrapper_VideoStation as seen in:
  14. I'm just J3455 want to enable hw transcoding, i have try to build i915.ko with GPL Source and ToolChain, but shows "Module.symvers" is missing. To use SA6400 insteed of DS920+ because SA6400 is kernel 5.10 so it can enable BBR and FQ. 15. codec patch file from the above quote and AME 3.0 patch from wangsiji solves my Synology photos transcoding issues, thxs for all your work @wirgen @wangsiji and @dj_nsk for posting the links! wangsiji AME 3.0 patch i got from here https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/65643-ame-30-patcher/ now after the codec patch, videos take a longer time to load on mobile and mobile web browser I do not see any delay in pc/tv and also ended up with AAC grayed out in AME 1.0.0-00001 and won't update to 1.0.0-50001
  16. Sorry for responding to this old topic. I have a DS918+ on a barebone with a GTX 1080. My goal would be transcoding with the GPU using Jellyfin in Docker. Could someone help me? I tried unpacking the SPK files in order to modify the info, but the newer ones don't open as such.
  17. Hi, you can observe my config an count it as a referrence. It is capable of everything you need. I tried the transcoding feature and it carried 9x4k simultaneous threads (network connection was the bottleneck in this scenario). Also, it runs a lot of virtualization tasks and docker containers.
  18. see here. 1) you need Plex -> HW transcoding -> DS918+ or DS920+ only -> Intel 9th gen (10th gen with patched i915.ko - maximum) with integrated GPU (no needs GeForce...) -> Core i7-9700K (or Core i7-10700K with patch) - this is the maximum and sufficient CPU 2) 100Tb -> requires 6-8 SATA connectors on the m/b (or you can add an external SATA controller connected to PCIe) Look for a motherboard with these limitations in mind. (and what you have chosen is obviously redundant resources that will not be used in Xpenology)
  19. I will tell you the results of further investigation regarding DS1522+. DS1522+ is a bay expansion model of DS923+ and has the same characteristics of the Ryzen r1000 platform as DS923+. DS1520+ utilizes an Intel iGPU capable of transcoding with the Gemini Lake platform. Do you know the difference between these characteristics? Still think you need DS1522+?
  20. A month ago, I purchased a Synology DS423+, but I returned it after two weeks for various reasons. Now, I've built an Xpenology DS920+ using an Asrock J5040 motherboard, performing a migration and using serial numbers and settings suggested by the Arc-redpill loader. Can someone explain why I can still use QuickConnect and hardware transcoding seamlessly? What can only be achieved with original serial numbers. Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk
  21. Change fan psu is very easy and reduce the noise. 12 cm fan rear is more complicate and for example, with Noctua and Nvidia Tesla gpu HP Microserver Gen 8 power off because the fan not noise but haven´t high pressure and raise the temperatures with transcoding or any high work.
  22. Hello everyone, my name is pdbear. Recently, I've been exploring the setup of media servers like Emby, Plex, Jellyfin, etc., within Synology NAS. I noticed that the lack of GPU transcoding functionality was something missing. As a vGPU user, I took some time to adapt it accordingly. Currently, the driver is based on 510.108.03, and it supports almost all x86 Synology NAS with kernel 4.4.302+. Feel free to give it a try. github link: https://github.com/pdbear/syno_nvidia_gpu_driver
  23. I have an MoBo with 12500h right now . You should contact @jimmmmm, he's the dev. I can told you that everything works fine, even virtual machine manager. Actually, have no bugs, HW transcoding works fine, all core are available and usable. Tried to overclock the CPU, but comsuption is too high lol. So with default configuration, with 4 HDD, 2 nvme & 1 SSD, consumption is about 45w idle, 60w with normal job and 130w with stress test.
  24. I using a m-shell and have DVA3221 working with a Quadro P2000, transcoding is working fine, currently on update 1, can I update to update 4 manually?
  25. @wjz304, does your loader support hw transcoding for SA6400 ? Why is there no i915.ko in modules for SA6400?
