  1. Did you try to install the loader on a USB Stick, instead of the NVMe SSD?
  2. I'm sorry, I dont have it anymore. But you can try it here: https://github.com/syno-community/arpl-i18n
  3. Well I guess I can't help further. Thats all I did, nothing special. I guess it has to be something with your loader.
  4. SSD as boot drive for the loader was my initial thought, which did not make sense, so I used a normal USB drive as stated in my previous posting. I just use a single 4tb SSD drive for financial reasons. I backup my files to an external USB drive locally every few days. I also backup every few month an encrypted backup to a remote nas of a friend of mine.
  5. Without changing any settings, you cant. But better use a cheap usb drive for booting the loader. It is only needed for the loader, which will start xpenology from the drive it installed.
  6. Just an Update from my side: I have set up the ASRock N100DC-ITX, with an USB memory stick and installed the newest DSM 7.2 via arpl-i18n. I chose DS918+ in order to be able to use transcoding. To be able to use transcoding, you will need to generate an SN and MAC prior to building the loader. You can do this when configuring the loader, as the generator is integrated there. after installing dsm, I used the following links to install the licence fix for AME. https://github.com/darknebular/Wrapper_VideoStation as seen in:
  7. Interesting questions, which I am having exactly the same right now... I was planing too, to switch from USB to a small SSD 120GB (new, like 15€). I was hoping for quicker booting, app response/loading, etc.. So if this is true, then a SSD boot drive doesn't make any sense, right?? Can anyone confirm this and/or add some more infos about how the USB is used and if it makes any sense in going for a boot SSD?? Many thanks!
  8. Thanks mate! Thats even a much better idea, also the price stays the same! I will update my build as follows. I hope we will get some more feedback here, and afterwards I going to order the parts. - ASRock N100DC-ITX 150€ - PNY CS1030 250GB M.2 NVMe Gen3 25€ - Samsung 870 EVO SATA 4TB SSD 175€ - Kingston 8GB RAM KVR26N19S8/8 20€ - 19V 65Watt (5,5x2,5 mm) Power Supply 22€ - Chieftec IX-01B Mini ITX Case 32€ = TOTAL: 420€
  9. Hello guys, I have had a custom build based on ASRock J3160-ITX running for 7 years w/o any problems. My primary usage is home-use, some containers, syno photo, drive, pc backups,.. I dont need RAID, since I am backing up data additionaly on a cloud and also occasionally on a external usb device. Power consumption is important: I had Idle: 8-11Wh and Peak: 18-25Wh Must: Passive cooling Now I want to upgrade the hardware to the following, while maintaining the same or even lower power usage and be complete silent with passive cooling and SSDs: - ASUS Prime N100I-D D4-CSM 110€ - PNY CS1030 250GB M.2 NVMe Gen3 25€ - Samsung 870 EVO SATA 4TB SSD 175€ - Kingston 8GB RAM KVR32S22S6/8 22€ - PicoPSU 90W 35€ + 12V, 7,5A Power Supply 22€ - Chieftec IX-01B Mini ITX Case 32€ = TOTAL: 420€ I have seen one single person posting in the forum that he was able to upgrade to DSM 7.2 with N100 SOC, but other than that there are not much infos about the N100. Can somebody tell me if the N100 is supported without any issues and also your opinion on my build is welcomed? Others can feel free to share their N100 build or take my build if they wanna build a new one. Thanks for your help!
  10. So I can just clone my current USB flash drive and flash it to the new SATA SSD and boot like before, while keeping all my configurations? Are there any settings hardcoded that needs to be changed telling the system, that its now being used via SATA port and not via USB... Thanks to you all in advance!
  11. Thanks for the reply, my SSD is going to be a SATA 6G one, since I don't have any M.2 ports on this board.
  12. Hi everyone, I have currently set up a fully working DSM 7.2 via USB memory stick boot and already configured it to my needs which took me quite some time. I want now to switch to a 120GB SSD as the booting device, instead of the USB stick. I'm hopping for some performance gains, but more than that Im afraid that increased read/write operations will damage the USB stick in the near future. I'm having quite some apps and containers which will be active 24/7 and connections to devices will also be 24/7. Is it possible to clone my USB drive, so that I don't lose any configuration and then flash it to the new SSD and continue to use it right after? (I didn't find anything similar on the web, it was either old DSM version or fresh installation of xpenology) Many thanks! Regards
