About Me

  1. Last test : edit directly to grub, press "e" on start. After edit, press F10 "SataPortMap" : "3" "DiskIdxMap" : "00" "sata_remap" : "4\\>0:5\\>1:6\\>2"
  2. Edit your user_config.json "SataPortMap" : "4", "DiskIdxMap" : "00", "sata_remap" : "4\\>0:5\\>1:6\\>2:7\\>3" }, WARNING : If the last argument is not sata_remap add a "," After, compil your loader and test ! @IG-88 Can you watch this please?
  3. Thanks for your reply! Sadly with SataPortMap=4 i get the same error.. I also tryed the linked Tutorial but with that i no longer find my NAS after building the bootloader. Used Plattform: DS3622xs+ used architecture:broadwellnk.
  4. Hi, Your chipset on your motherboard is an INTEL B660, It manages 4 sata ports (present on the motherboard). Why map your USB port? Your usb stick is recognized by the VID and PID that you enter in user_config.json (./rploader.sh identifyusb) Test : SataPortMap=4 DiskIdxMap=00 For any help, read :
  5. Most of the ESXi XPe tutorials suggest that the user installs a virtual disk as an example device, separate from the loader vmdk. Maybe you want to use a virtual disk in your installation, and maybe you would rather use a passthrough controller. It is not always clear and often people install the virtual disk when it isn't necessary. Because we map the loader vmdk away (with SataPortMap=10 and DiskIdxMap=1) that causes the vmdk to be assigned outside of the addressable port range (assuming 16 ports). Any SATA devices on that same controller (SATA0) would be similarly not addressable, so we ask the user to add a second SATA controller (SATA1) for the virtual disks (or RDM devices) to be attached to. Those are then addressed at the beginning of the port range (SataPortMap=1000 and DiskIdxMap=1n, where n is the number of virtual disks). In @aerolite's case, they did not need a "21GB" virtual disk because data drives were being delivered via LSI HBA but it appears they had created one and set up the virtual controller as above. Non-SATA ports tack onto the end of whatever SATA ports are reserved by SataPortMap/DiskIdxMap. So they were asking how to get the starting port for the HBA back to the beginning of the range. Therefore, since they do not need the 21GB disk it can be deleted, the SATA1 controller also deleted, and SataPortMap and DiskIdxMap adjusted. With no SATA devices in the system (aside from the loader vmdk) then SataPortMap=1000 and DiskIdxMap=1. Unusually, the last SataPortMap 00 is required so that the HBA knows where to start addressing its ports. Unfortunately, there is an anomaly exhibited with TCRP/DSM7/HBA's that causes a single port gap between the last SATA disk and the first HBA disk. I haven't figured out how to make that go away outside of a device tree configuration.

  7. I can finally report that I fixed it. What I did to resolve my issue tried to determine if it is a hardware/software failure connected 8 disks to 1 HBA (HBA2 was not installed at that time) and checked if every disk was listed (computer management in windows server 2016, another OS would probably work as well) unplugged HBA1 and connected HBA2 -> also checked if 8 disks were listed -> one disk was missing, so I checked all connectors and one was loose. flashed firmware of my second HBA. connected both HBAs, installed 22 disks and all were listed in WIN server 2016 unplugged my X540-T2 10Gbit NIC installed Xpenology as follows ran command by command ./rploader.sh clean ./rploader.sh update ./rploader.sh fullupgrade ./rploader.sh identifyusb ./rploader.sh serialgen DS3622xs+ vi user_config.json adapted my user_config.json to my environment { "extra_cmdline": { "pid": "0x1000", "vid": "0x090c", "sn": "xxxxxxxxxxxxx", "mac1": "xxxxxxxxxxxxx", "mac2": "xxxxxxxxxxxxx", "mac3": "xxxxxxxxxxxxx", "SataPortMap": "", "DiskIdxMap": "" }, "synoinfo": { "esataportcfg" : "0x00", "usbportcfg" : "0xc00000", "internalportcfg" : "0x3fffff", "maxdisks": "22", "support_bde_internal_10g": "no", "support_disk_compatibility": "no", "support_memory_compatibility": "no" }, "ramdisk_copy": {} ran these commands to finish the tcrp loader ./rploader.sh build broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 ./rploader.sh backup ./rploader.sh backuploader exitcheck.sh reboot plugged my x540 in connected my LAN cable to one of the LAN ports booted from USB and installed the appropriate DSM_DS3622xs+_42661.pat Special thanks to @Peter Suh @IG-88 @flyride for your support.
  8. I have been running a Volume1 SHR-2 (with 2 disks protection) under DSM 6.x on proxmox for years without too many problem... For the last few months I was not more able to update to DSM 6.X updates, the pat file was retunring as corrupted each time I was trying (I did not investigate furthermore...) More recently 2 out of my 8 disks started to show bad health, but I had no time to deal with that. Then one day, after a reboot, my DSM 6.2.??? showed up with 'Configuration lost' ! Rather than trying to repair this old version, I took advantage to migrate to 7.1 with TCRP TCRP did not recognized my 2nd passthrouh SATA controller so I rearranged the disks in order to use only one controller card, the 4 others disks being held by the onboard controller (4 passtrough motherboard disks + 1 passtrough 4 slots Marvell SATA controller with 4 disks). One out of my two 4Tb WD red HDD was having massives I/O errors I have sent it back under warranty). After different tried, I had to change to DS3622xs+ to make it run. I configured user_config.json with SataPortMap=44 and DiskIdxMap=0004 This is what I get with : Proxmox disks (those are those of the controller card, the 4 others are not seen because in passthrough under the running Xpenology VM) : VM configuration : All the disks are recognized (except the one gone under warranty) and I thought naively that thanks to SHR-2 DSM will be able to rearrange the Volume. I am really not an IT expert, specially when it comes about partitionning, LVM, disk management ... My wife has many sensible datas on that volume and I have been very busy these last few months so I haven't been very serious about backups (I know !... ) She will probably ask divorce if I do not manage to recover thoses files 🤔! Any help in order to recover my data (and my mariage 😀) would be much much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  9. SataPortMap has no effect on platforms that use DTS. If you use JUNs mode, then the disks should be added automatically. If you want to manually edit the DTS file then you can use the redpill-dtb-static. Maybe you also want to try the ARPL it DVA1622 builds and run OK on my test system The 16Port DTS file for manuall edit can be found here -> https://github.com/pocopico/tinycore-redpill/raw/develop/dva1622-16port.dts
  10. Background: Fresh installation, loader is 1.02b Chips for 2 port extender ASM1061. Chips for 4 port extender Marvell 9215 When you use PCIE (or Mini-PCIE) sata extender , the HDD slot may not be follow the sequence For example. It gives HDD#1,2,5,6 instead of HDD#1,2,3,4 I did some reading in below links https://github.com/evolver56k/xpenology/blob/master/synoconfigs/Kconfig.devices It shows there are three command may help to re-arrange the HDD slot in order. SataPortMap is define number of sata ports each of the sata host controller has DiskIdxMap defines first sata port number for each of the sata host controller sata_remap can help re-arrange SATAslot sequence ( not sure can re-arrange across different host or not) I have tried play around with above three command with different setting. But didn't work out. Because there isn't any successful examples that I have find. Can any one share their successful examples I have 3 scenario need to solve. Scenario#1 Motherboard has 2 sata port #1 and #2 . PCIE extender 2 sata ports DSM shows HDD #1,2,5,6 (skipped 3,4) How to configure so that it shows HDD#1,2,3,4 Scenario#2 Motherboard has 4 sata #1-#4 . PCIE extender 4 sata ports DSM shows HDD #1,3,5,6 (skipped 2,4). for 4 ports from motherboard, and HDD#7,8,9,10 for 4 ports from PCIE extender I suspected this MotherBoard has 3 sata controller on it. I tried to config SataPortMap = 1124, but it didnt worked out How to configure so that it shows HDD#1,2,3,4 (MB),5,6,7,8 (PCIE) Scenario#3 Motherboard has 4 sata #1-#4 . PCIE extender 2 sata ports When no PCIE extender connected. DSM shows HDD#1,2,3,4 (from MB) Once PCIE extender is connected. DSM shows HDD#1,2 (from MB), 3,4(from extender), 5,6 (from MB) It's like sata extender pushing port #3,4 to position of port #5,6 I suspected somehow the extender sata host has higher priority than the 2nd host on motherboard How to configure so that it shows HDD#1,2,3,4 (From MB) ,5,6 (from extender) ? Thanks a lot for reading and helping.
  11. DS3622xs+ Motherboard: Supermicro X11SRM-VF CPU: 8core/8thread RAM: 128GB ECC HBA: LSI SAS3224 Network: connectx-3 I also tried ESXI with this guide VM boots and can install DSM with one virtual disk, but as soon as I add either one of the PCIE passthrough device (SAS3224 or connectx-3), it automatically shutdown. I see that during builds the ./rploader found driver for both devices. Here is my config: { "extra_cmdline": { "pid": "removed", "vid": "removed", "sn": "removed", "netif_num": "2", "mac1": "removed", "mac2": "removed", "SataPortMap": "11", "DiskIdxMap": "1000" }, "synoinfo": { "internalportcfg": "0xffff", "maxdisks": "16", "support_bde_internal_10g": "no", "support_disk_compatibility": "no", "support_memory_compatibility": "no" }, "ramdisk_copy": {} }
  12. Wrong SataPortMap will not cause KP. Can you capture the KP ? The most common issue would be the cpu emulation. Q35 was/is the right one.
  13. Need some help before I give up trying this and move to TrueNAS or OpenmediaVault (both install seamlessly). I have made countless attempts and installing this on my Ryzen PC but have not been able to get it to work. I am sure there are issues with detecting my disks but can't be sure. I have attempted almost all of the sataportmap/ diskidxmap systems but have never got it to work. My current configuration is a DS918+ DSM 7.0.1-42218. satamap shows Bad Ports: -5 -4 -1 0. Don't understand this. Anyway I updated the values that came up to the user_config.json file and continued the build. tc@box:~$ sudo ./rploader.sh satamap now Found "01:00.1 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Should i update the user_config.json with these values ? [Yy/Nn] y Done. I am pretty sure this will fail. Rebooted the PC and as expected came up with bad disks. Any help appreciated. I am attaching the output of the dmesg and the lspci -tvnnq outputs and the build dialogue. Motherboard ASUS Prime B350M-A. CPU Ryzen 5 1600 Memory 16 GB Motherboard has 6 SATA ports. All have been set to "Hot Plug" Enabled. SATA mode is set to AHCI. M2_SATA Port is empty. Thanks in advance to who ever can help. 15. Nope, it's not like that. Drive 8 and Drive 10 are sata #2 and sata #4. My best guess is that sata #1 and sata #3 (Drive 7 and Drive 9) are not recognized. Here's a screenshot with 4 disks connected Perhaps my sata port config is wrong? SataPortMap=64 DiskIdxMap=0006 Any idea?
  16. Hey everyone! I actually got my Xpenology fully booted thanks to this virtualization guide and this general install guide, but neither provided me enough details to get my raid card active. To begin, here are my specs: VM or BareMetal : VM - ESXi 6.7U3 Hardware (Motherboard/CPU) : Gigabyte M370M DS3H / Intel 8400 Storage-Controller: 1x LSI SAS 9211-8i (HBA in IT mode) Hot Plug/Hot Swap Applied : Yes version of rploader.sh : 0.8.0.3 Platform (DS3622xsp/DS918+/DS920+/DVA3221/DS1621+/DS3615xs/DS3617xs) : 3622xs+ Platform Version (6.2.4/7.0.1/7.1) : 7.1 Platform Revision (42218/42661/42661-U1) : 42661 Current Status : Boots to kernel, but with virtualized disk. As the virtualized guide suggested, I have two SATA Controllers, one with TCRP and the other is just a virtual disk. I also have my LSI 9211-8i in there in IT Mode. lspci -kkq reveals: 0b:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] (rev 03) Subsystem: Fujitsu Technology Solutions HBA Ctrl SAS 6G 0/1 [D2607] So its registered by the machine, I just need it initialized by Synology. I read about drivers in the guide linked above, so I ran the following commands: ./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-e xt/master/mpt2sas/rpext-index.json ./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-e xt/master/mpt3sas/rpext-index.json I didn't know which had the driver I needed, and frankly I didn't see any negatives by doing both, so I did both. Now I get this, basically saying it sees the controller, but that is has zero drives. It is also saying that a single SCSI/HBA has 63 drives. I have one drive connected to the SAS: root@box:/home/tc# ./rploader.sh satamap now Machine is VIRTUAL Hypervisor=VMware Found SCSI HBAs, We need to install the SCSI modules Don't run this as root. [Yy/Nn] n OK remember to update manually by editing user_config.json file I seemingly have all the pieces here, just need some help putting it altogether. I plan on connecting eight drives absolute max, and have four drives in the short term. For testing, there is currently one drive plugged into my LSI card with a SAS cable. I would really appreciate some guidance.
  17. I tested with VMWare and no works, with data vmdk SataPortMap=11 DiskIdxMap=1000 and without data vmdk SataPortMap=1 DiskIdxMap=1000. I will continue to try other options. Thanks.
  18. Data VMDK needs to be on SATA1:0. Add another virtual SATA controller. Data VMDK is not strictly necessary since you have LSI disks. Without data VMDK and no secondary SATA controller, SataPortMap=1 DiskIdxMap=1000 With data VMDK and a secondary SATA controller, SataPortMap=11 DiskIdxMap=1000
  19. I don´t understant what do you want to tell me. Loader image vmdk is sata 0:0 Data vmdk is is sata 0:1 I change grub.cfg with SataPortMap=1 and DiskIdxMap=1000 and no works.

  21. DVA1622 does not use SataPortMap but DTS as does 920+ and ds1621+. If the automatic patching is not working for you, you can always use the manual edit process and place the file under /home/tc/custom-module prior building the loader. The process is explained a few posts back
  22. @IG-88 Tried the settings: "SataPortMap" : "6", "DiskIdxMap" : "00", "sata_remap" : "10\\>2:11\\>3" Now shows drive errors on disks 3, 4, 7, 8 Will try with the DiskSeqReverse parameter.
  23. Looking at this happening at another instance, try SataPortMap=1 and DiskIdxMap=1000
  24. well its also possible to revert the order of a controller, 7,8 is on the 2rd controller 1st and 2nd port as dummy found, if we revers the order of the 2nd controller the two usable ports will be 1st and 2nd port on that controller ... "SataPortMap": "22", "DiskIdxMap": "0006", "DiskSeqReverse": "04" },
  25. maybe one last try? user-config-json.txt ... "SataPortMap": "6", "DiskIdxMap": "00", "sata_remap": "10\\>2:11\\>3" }, in theory it should map the two ports ata11/ata12 into the 1st dummy gap (ata3/ata4), close the gap and leave only 6 ports usable
