1st Unit:

Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL

- DSM version prior update: DSM 7.2-64570 update-3
- Loader version and model: Latest ARC Loader - DS920+
- Using custom extra.lzma: NO
- Installation type: BAREMETAL - Datto Nas - Gigabyte Ga-97N Intel i7-4790 8GB Ram

- Additional comments: Manual update

2nd Unit:

Outcome of the update: UNUSABLE AFTER UPDATE

- DSM version prior update: DSM 7.2-64570 update-3
- Loader version and model: Latest Arc Loader - DS920+
- Using custom extra.lzma: NO
- Installation type: BAREMETAL - 4 Bay nas Chassis with Gigabyte N3150-ITX - 4 GB Ram

- Additional comments: Manual Update installed without issue. Applied the update and when it rebooted, Unit would not see drives after update (was using Tinycore Redpill Loader prior to this update - Booted to Redpill and updated loader and after that network card would not grab an IP Booted into tinycore and it gave errors trying to setup the loader - Changed Loader to  ARC Loader and ARC loader went flawless Grabbed IP, went through all loader settings and then Booted with ARC loader and system migrated fine and could access DSM but it was Very slow just opening control panel would take 30 to 45 seconds and clickign anything would take about the same amount of time or would just hang - After system has been up overnight, Can ping the device can get to the login screen but unit will not get past password screen. Cannot access shares via network unable to connect. Synology Assistant does not locate the Nas on the network - Find.synology.com Finds the unit right away without issue but still cannot access DSM past login screen or see shares.

UPDATE: On the unit I was having issues with, I made a new Arc loader usb. I then deleted the versioning file by selecting allow downgrade. Upon boot I was able to select to remove my configuration but keep files and then reinstalled DSM 7.2.1-69057. System rebooted and is now running very nice and snappy. I suspect there was some corruption potentially of a configuration file. So far so good. Will continue testing.

  • Ashman changed the title to DSM 7.2.1-69057

- Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL

- DSM version prior update: DSM 7.1-42661
- Loader version and model: ARPL-i18n v23.9.7 / DS3622xs+
- Using custom extra.lzma: NO
- Installation type: BAREMETAL - MSI H97 Mate, i7-4790, 16 GB DDR3, 4 x 4TB, 3 x 16TB, NIC Intel X540-T2, Realtek 8111G

- Additional comments: manual update (with some wierd)

After migration on first time works, without lost data and all recover. In a reboot test, the loader crash trying to access file. Try with another USB drive, make the pen drive about 4 times on different devices without no luck with arpl-i18n 23.9.4 version. Finally reset BIOS and change some values (Hot Swap, UEFI boot) and with arpl-i18n v23.9.7, finally all works without problems again. But with the latest version of DSM "accidentally" download by arpl with the config menu.

Note:

  • Failed initially with DS3622xs+, tried 3 times.  Managed to boot into DSM boot screen, going through steps to update to DSM7.2.1, and it failed at approximately 50% mark, tried both direct download or manual upload of file
  • Following the comment from @Flautista1988 above, I selected DS923+ and booted it fine.
  • File seems to be accessible so far, dockers running fine.
  • Not sure what am I missing by changing from 3622xs+ to 923+, will need to read the doco to find out.  Would like to get back to 3622xs+ if possible
