  2. and if you install the new update 6.2.3 you will have to revert the extra.lzma to the old one you just replaced - just in case dsm gui offers you to update in a few day's https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/28321-driver-extension-jun-104b-for-dsm623-for-918/
  3. two point why i doubt your "Dell h310 sas controller(pcie x16@x4)" asrock states its 16x slot pcie2 as pcie1x and intel specs for the six pcie lanes of that soc are 1x4 + 1x2 or 4x1 or 2x1+1x2 + 1x2 so there is no 1x4 + 2x1 mode listed https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/95594/intel-celeron-processor-j3455-2m-cache-up-to-2-3-ghz.html so it seems likely you have your sas controller @pcie1x and ~500 MByte/s i did not use a dell reflashed controller and a pcie 1x to 16x adapter and had nothing to change to get it up and running, but good to know that denpends on the point of view - its a nice franken-mod for me you lost the way when trying to pimp it (but it a very reasonable priced build) my choice in the same board size is a gigabyte B365M HD3 beside having 6xsata already its much more capable when it comes to pcie 2x16x (1x16 ,1x4) 2x1x 1xM.2 (also a 4x pcie, when used with a adapter card M.2 to pcie 4x or a M.2 sata card) also it has pcie 3.0 spec so when using a controller/chip like JMB585 its possible to get enough bandwidth for normal hdd's (like when in the pci4x slot or in M.2) and in this scenario we still have the pcie 16x slot open for a dualport 10G nic (like is use it) depending on whats more important its also possible to have the pcie 8x sas controller in the 16x slot to get all of its performance (when using it as a all flash 8 x sata ssd controller like lsis sas 2308 based controller) btw. there is a patch available to get nvme ssd usable in dsm/xpenology but in your case the performance of a pcie attathed ssd seems wasted as its just having one pcie lane, a (properly) attached sata ssd might perform similar, is easier to integrate in dsm and/xpenology and costs less with your build you might not see most of the performance problems as you just use 2x1GBit ethernet, but you will see lower performance when rebuilding a raid or extending how is this working? how does a pcie device translate into a "propper" usb vid/pid to detect it as dvb device? also the cable on the tevi card seem to be attached on the upper edge of the card, where is the wiring going from this point? you would need to use my new 0.11 extra/extra2 to get rid of jun's old i915 drivers, that way the new i915 drivers from synology would work i can assure you it does, i tried it with a pcie 1x to 16x adapter (usually sold for miners) and it does work without and problems - beside the terrible performance it will have when reduced to ~500 MByte/s sadly the good old LSISAS2008 chip only supports pcie 2.0 spec, only the newer LSISAS2308 chip supports pcie 3.0
  6. yes, that much was my guess but what kind of software layer would you use (pretty sure its not intel qsv) and what packages would be needed in addition (like you will need additional libs when wanting to use vdpau from nvidia), its not like you can just install it with apt-get if you have a driver
  7. amd is not supported hardware transcoding (only intel quick sync video) the "best" depends a lot of what people favor, need or sometimes think they need ASRock J4105-ITX, ASRock J5005-ITX are affordable, has 4 sata onboard and you can extend 2-4 ports with the pcie 1x slot as long as 10g network is not needed its ok i favor the gigabyte B365 HD3, slightly bigger but lots of options to extend the cpu can be a dead cheap 2 core like G4900/G5400 or 4 core i3 8100/9100, no F type as its without iGPU so it would be without intel quick sync video 8GB RAM is enough
  9. the pcie slot is just pcie 2.0 2x slot, so you will not see more then 1000MByte/s for all disks on this controller you might be better off with y micro atx board, more pcie slots and with a gigabyte 365M HD3 its just slightly deeper then a itx and its wider for 4 pcie slot (it also has 6xsata and m.2) imho 8x

    DSM 6.2 Loader

its from today and it might take some time until all systems get it, you can manually download it and install with "Ext2 Volume Manager" (free version) you can handle both partitons 2nd partition just need to get a drive letter assigned to copy extra.lzma 1st partition can also get a drive letter but to edit grub.cfg, start notepap++ with extended right as administrator and then you can access grub.cfg through the open dialog in notepad++

    DSM 6.2 Loader

i guess it updated the usb from its original kernel 6.2.0 to the installed 6.2.2 and that would result in most drivers to fail on loading, pretty sure the broadcom would fail in this situation and it should be fixed by replacing the extra.lzma, on next boot that would copy the content of the new extra.lzma to disk and load these new modules, system should boot again and finish the update when updating to 6.2.3 you would need to copy the old extra.lzma from jun's original loader 1.03b again to the usb, can be extracted with 7zip (open image.img inside from synoboot.img) i'd suggest removing the usb when 6.2.2 is running, placing the new (or more likely the old from jun's original) extra.lzma on the 2nd partition and after putting it back to the 6.2.2 machine doing the 6..2.3 update in the web gui of dsm, that would copy the new 6.2.3 kernel files to usb and prepare the system for the update on next boot (with the new kernel), if the right extra.lzma is already in place it should flawlessly reboot and do the update when automatically reboting
  12. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2.3-25423 - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.04b - DS918+ - Using custom extra.lzma: Yes, 0.11 for 6.2.3 - Installation type: BAREMETAL - Gigabyte B365M HD3 | i3 9100 | 2xJMB585 5 port AHCI PCIe 3.0 | BCM57840-2T 2port 10GbE - Additional comments: reboot required, hardware transcoding working with VideoStation 2.4.8

    DSM 6.2 Loader

do you know that 6.2.2 need different drivers, so you need a different extra.lzma on the 2nd partition of the loader? https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/21663-driver-extension-jun-103b104b-for-dsm622-for-3615xs-3617xs-918/ just copy the new extra.lzma to the 2nd partition of the usb replacing the old and you should see you system agin in network and should be able to finish the update any information about you hardware, like cpu, board, nic, storage controller? edit: there is a new 6.2.3 but i'd suggest you finish the update to 6.2.2 first before trying this
  15. i solved this last weekend, nothing wrong with the drivers https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/28321-driver-extension-jun-104b-for-dsm623-for-918/?do=findComment&comment=144918
  16. just sniggering and shaking my had in disbelieve ;-) https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/21663-driver-extension-jun-103b104b-for-dsm622-for-3615xs-3617xs-918/ if you open the extra.lzma you will find that there is already a r8101.ko - why ask for a driver if its already there? just out of curiosity, what driver would that be and what do you plan to do with it
  17. i don't know where you get or read this, the 1st post is very specific about what files to use, i even link the *.pat files to use when installing 6.2.2 you use the kernel files from the inside the pat file (zImgage and rd.gz) and the extra.lzma from the link matching the type like 3615 the drivers in the extra.lzma are specifically made for 6.2.2 and will only work when you replace the kernel files on the loader too no works also with winrar (at least it did when i tried it a few minutes ago) you can't just use any *pat file, things are specific for every type and version 23739 is 6.2.(0) thats the files already on the loader as it comes from jun and DDSM is a docker DSM - do you use it with a loader for docker? when using loader for 3615 you also need to use files and driver (extra.lzma) for 3615
  20. you do realize that synology retracted 6.2.3 and only seems to offer it for x20+ (geminilake) systems and manual download also the video station thing with hardware transcoding shows that there might be more things wrong in 6.2.3 then the universal search problem i don't think a webdav package is related to drivers (and thats what we discuss here) maybe you should consider downgrading and wait for a general release of 6.2.3? i did use 6.2.3 for my new hardware and my real nas system but is don't need much of all the thing dsm can (possibly) do, i'm still using it as a data tank and anything else is optional (and yes i could use omv instead without noticing much)
  21. depends on your image, if its 3615 or 3617 then yes, the max network is 8 by default for 918+ its set to 2, bau can be changes to higher values in synoinfo.conf (/etc.default and /etc) https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/12679-progress-of-62-loader/?do=findComment&comment=92682
  23. you can just repalce the files, it will always compare whats on disk with wahts from usb and if there is a difference it will copy from usb to disk (dsm system) and use what comes from usb, so its easy to switch anythin about mpt2sas or mpt3sas ? thats the driver for your card
  25. any log (serial console) or dmesg so that we can see whats happening when 0.11 driver fails?
