Elpee Posted September 25, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2017 Why would we have to update if our systems run smoothly and we don't have to?
Polanskiman Posted September 26, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2017 Why would we have to update if our systems run smoothly and we don't have to? That's not really the question of the OP and the purpose of this topic but the answer to your question could be the following: 1 - Updates are meant for a specific reason. Critical updates usually correct bugs and most importantly security vulnerabilities. 2 - Improved efficiency/stability of DSM. 3 - Additional features (mostly in major upgrades not in critical updates). However, being on XPEnology, any update has the potential to brick your box so any update that is made available by Synology should first be applied on a test machine and thoroughly tested.
