Develop and refine the DVA1622 loader

Recommended Posts

For people that want to test the DVA1622 (Geminilake).

I have inlcuded that on latest development release of TCRP.

- Updated extensions

- Updated redpill-dtb-static

- Updated geminilake static redpill module

- Included the DVA1622 config on my redpill-lkm repo

- I have tested that on a VM, installs and boots OK.

- All geminilake extensions should work

- Manual and automatic dts patching should work

- Two disks currently supported.

Unfortunatelly as i dont have time to test it on my geminilake PC, i would appreciate if someone could test it for me.

The process would be

1. Download latest development image from develop TCRP repo.

https://github.com/pocopico/tinycore-redpill/blob/develop/tinycore-redpill.v0.9.0.2.img.gz?raw=true

2. Burn the image on a USB flash drive

3. Boot into TCRP

4. run

./rploader.sh update

./rploader.sh fullupgrade

./rploader.sh identifyusb

./rploader.sh serialgen DS920+

./rploader.sh build dva1622_42661

5. reboot and install

** You need /dev/dri for the AI options to work, If AI is not available, look for "[error]Failed to open /dev/dri/card0"

Try this command

./rploader.sh build dva1622-7.1.0-42661

Tnks.

I start DVA1722 on  ASRock J4105-ITX. Seems that all right. With sn from 920 I have 2 licenses only.

I connected 1 monitor on HDMI, here is Surveillance Station window for work. USB mouse and keybord works fine.

Need serial DVA3221, not serial DS920+. Other form is turn off or disconect ethernet while configure and SS active with 8 licenses.

more precises gemini lake refresh, J4125, same cpu as in 920+, the "old" i915 driver source synology uses since 6.2.3 would still support that hardware and i checked the i915.ko in DSM_DVA1622_42661.pat, its still 20171222, so its just a 920+ with only two disk slots and more cam licenses

from "our" point of view it would make 920+ loader version obsolete (as long as dva1622 supports more disks then its default)

and just for documentation, there are no nvidia drivers in dva1622, its just the normal gemini lake image (kernel) as used for the 920+

and with the i915 driver source patch from above it should be usable up to 10th gen cpu's

it might be possible to just use the already existing i915 binary modules made for 920+ also for dva1622 as it will use the same (platform based, in this case geminilake) kernel settings for compiling kernel/drivers

edit: as its the same platform as 920+ it has the same base kernel config and that will limit the possible cpu threads to 8, kind of unpleasant for "non  minimal" cpu configs, disabling HT in bios should be considered for cpu's with more then 4 cores to at least use max. 8 physical cores of a cpu

dva3221 vs. dva1622

918+ vs. 920+(ds1520+ is also the same as 920+ just 5 disk slots instead of 4, same as 918+ vs DS1019+, same thing just o a slot more)

The impossible is actually not true, what is true though, is that, there is no Jun (buildroot) for DVA1622 yet.

Unfortunately, what I researched seems to be true.
The DVA3221 is from 6.2 and the DVA1622 is not.

I tried curl with the expected download path, but
Only the empty shell was downloaded.

curl --location  "https://global.download.synology.com/download/DSM/release/7.0.1/42218/DSM_DVA1622_42218.pat" --output dva1622_42218.pat

I have tried with DVA1622 on my NUC J3455.

No find with Synology Assistant and turn off with black display after one or two minutes boot the loader , but about waiting 10 minutes more show me this image the display and Synology Assistant start to find DVA1622.

What is the isssue? I´ve never see this image when I load a bootloader and less waiting 10 minutes with black display after show me the boot, and reconognize after start a image of Synology.

On DVAs and only where a display port is available (DVA1622) the display and the keybord/mouse are used for controlling the surveillance outputs.

The 1622 DTS file now supports up to 8 internal drives.

Is there back end work involved to support more HDD's? Its not just changing a value in one of the config files? I seem to recall seeing once a lines something about maxdisk=16, not sure if thats all theres too it. supporting 8 drives wont cut it for me unfortunately.

Hi there,
I have just tested the installation of a DVA-1622, because with my current proxmox, I cannot install a DVA-3221 (cpu too old).
Well, the VM starts perfectly, no more kernel panic!
Only problem, no disc detected...
An idea ?

Did you add the virtio_scsi extension ? Which one ? I suggest you use :
