DSM 6.1.x Loader

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I tried a new install DSM 6 in my HP Gen8.

I used Arcao latest image V2.

1. Make bootable usb.

2. Edite grub.cfg with valid VID+PID and gen8 mac address, with original serial.

3. Boot

4. I found the nas with web assistant.

5. I tried install and i received the 13 error message.

The Vid and PID is OK. Somebody has an idea what's the problem?

Do you have a valid MAC-SN combination in your grub.cfg (matching with your real MAC)?

You need a valid serial # and mac # pair that's what the spreadsheet gives you.

Did you prefix your vid/pid with the 0x?

The general consensus is that error 13 is caused by one or more of these values being invalid.

Hi Arcao or somebody.

I used the latest img of Arcao on page 80 for AMD system. When I changed VID & PID, I found out the grub file doesn't have "SataPortMap=x".

Is that OK if we ignore it? I don't want to mess up my drives' orders in the Nas.

Thanks.

OMG... I didn't use 0X prefix... I tested and installed without problem.

Thx guys!

I don't think sn and mac need to be in matched pairs. I think that would only be necessary for QC use. Personally I use the real mac addresses of my nics and I only generated the sn just for the sake of it. All works fine except of course for QC, which I don't need anyways.

That's right, Error 13 Failed to install the file. The file is probably corrupted. (13) at the setup stage is due to an invalid vid/pid. It's mentionned by Jun in the OP.

The x0 prefix seems to be a reccurent problem among people. I have updated the tutorial accordingly.

No. I used a generator. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=AFD1164BAADDF81C!168&ithint=file%2cxlsm&lor=shortUrl&app=Excel I can use my real MAC and i can generate a serial with my own MAC adress?

I may be stupid, but I don't understand how to generate a number, it always give the same.

DO I have to clic or change anything?

I think MAC and SN are not used during installation, in fact, I am not aware that MAC/SN has any particular relationship between each other.

Great job Arcao & jun!! Excellent. Got DSM 6 update 2 running on HP N54L AMD Turion II. Sooooo happy!. Migration went well, updated all packages flawlessly with one exception for my docker images. Everything running smoothly. Such a great job!! Much appreciated. Keep this community going guys!

Just to let you guys know, all is working fine.I ran into 2 small package related issues.

1) Solved - Homebridge in Docker - you need to create a new container, making sure the network setting is ok (check -Use the same network as Docker host)

2) Not -solved -I cannot seem to get the USB serial drivers to work with Jadahl's latest Domoticz version after the update for the use with rfxcom and p1 smart meter cable. This might be related to using another kernel image?

Just wanted to give some people a heads-up before they realize

The rest is great!!

Thanks for all the info in here, I successfully upgraded and everything i use is working.

Dell Optiplex 760 Intel Core 2 Duo 8Gb Ram 4TB Western Digital Red

Installed using

https://mega.nz/#!iV0n3ISB!Q_E7yNEsoxbP ... Aqo4RjPUag (Intel img Hybrid UEFI/BIOS)

Changed VID & PID using 0x prefix and my Mac

Installed without a hitch runs great, Even my OwnCloud installation is still working and accessible form the net.

Love you guys thanks for all your hard work.

I have 1 question though, should I be regularly upgrading the boot image as they seem to keep getting updated ?

That's good to know. I don't use QC either but here's my thinking...our machines connect to Synology servers for a few reasons, and if their systems log serial numbers and macs for any reason it seems wise to me to pass them a valid pair. I have no idea if they do track them but it seems prudent to assume they do and it takes no real effort.

@lewis666, useful link thanks and your English is fine.

@macleaned, glad you got it working.

2) Not -solved -I cannot seem to get the USB serial drivers to work with Jadahl's latest Domoticz version after the update for the use with rfxcom and p1 smart meter cable. This might be related to using another kernel image?

Do you know what usb serial chip it is using? Because my v2 ramdisk/boot image contains drivers (kernel modules) for ftdi_sio, cp210x, ch341 and pl2303. I have tested usb serial adapters with FTDI an cp210x and both works OK. If yours is missing I can add it.

Thanks a lot Arcao, but i am not much of a tech specialist. It's a hpn54l with amd processor. On DSM 5.2 I had seperate

Usb serial driver package which worked out of the box. Jadahl (.com) is offering a domoticz package for 3615 running dsm 6. But i think it is ok only for real syno's. Don't get me wrong. Domoticz runs, but unfortunately not showing ttty usb 0 and 1 for the rfxcom and p1 adapter. He has a seperate driver spk but this isn't working either. Really weird. i must be doing something wrong. This is going a bit offtopic so I understand i need somewhere else as well

Thanks to everyone for the new loader.

I have read this thread several times over the last few weeks and haven't seen any mention of hibernation issues. Does the current loader allow for HDD hibernation and auto poweroff?

Has the 5.2-5967 issue carried over to the DSM 6 loader? OR is it just me?

Thanks

Hi Arca can add acpi related driver from the XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.1-5055.1 boot image. This is the last version my Acer H340 shutdown normally with. With all newer bootloader incl. your 6.0.2 version I'm not able to shutdown and my Acer restarts automatically.

thanks for your help

I am using GA-H170N-WIFI, I manually extract the file to individual folder but doesn't seem the power button is working.

My error. The S30acpid.sh has to be in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ otherwise the acpid daemon is not started on boot. Just type this under root user:

mv /usr/syno/etc/rc.sysv/S30acpid.sh /usr/local/etc/rc.d/S30acpid.sh

Or download updated power-off.tar.gz.

Then restart your nas or start acpid daemon with:

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/S30acpid.sh start

Hi Arcao, thank you, it is working now!

I have a GA-H170N-WIFI but only 1 LAN is working.

Intel I219V chip and the other one controlled by an Intel I211AT chip.

in DSM network shown I have 2 LAN. but actually 1 is not working.

Anything I can troubleshoot here?

Same here ! Only one works.

If i use the mac of the realtek lan, the realtek works.

If i use the mac of the intel lan, the intel work.

They work only as one, not both of them work. I have to set mac1=MAC, when i set mac2=MAC (this isn't working).

my grub:

------

serial --port=0x3F8 --speed=115200

terminal_input serial console

terminal_output serial console

set default='0'

set timeout='1'

set fallback='0'

insmod part_msdos

insmod part_gpt

set locale_dir=$prefix/locale

set lang=en_US

menuentry 'Synology DS3615xs' --class os {

insmod fat

linux $img/zImage root=/dev/md0 syno_hdd_powerup_seq=0 netif_num=1 HddHotplug=0 syno_hw_version=DS3615xs vender_format_version=2 vid=0x0781 pid=0x5580 console=ttyS0,115200n8 sn=C8LWN00821 mac1=408D5CFFDEDA mac2=408D5CFFDEDG withefi elevator=your_magic_elevator quiet

set img=$prefix/../image/DS3615xs

initrd $img/ramdisk.lzma

}

------

I think mine is different situation, the Intel I219V is always not working

For all KVM users, i did the following;

hF1vEvs.png

downloaded the latest 'jun img'-file

mounted with read-write permissions

edited the 'grub.cfg'-file with an valid MAC-SN (used the same from my DSM 5.5 installation) and the VID+PID (vid=0x46f4 pid=0x0001)

changed my virtual MAC-address (same as 'grub.cfg' via "virsh edit vm_name")

booted via text-console

used the browser to start the installation

used the official 'DSM_DS3615xs_8451.pat' file

created btrfs without problems

updated to '6.0.2-8451 Update 2'

Good luck!

Could you please provide more details?

Your VM booting from your virtual USB device?

What hypervisor do you use?
