With the new xpenology bootloader you don't need to flash a Mac. You only need to set a serial and Mac in the bootloader and you're done. Currently on phone, will look tomorrow for a tutorial.

I use domoticz on a rpi2. No zwave needed, using Philips hue

That you can see the drive is good. Have you tried to plug the usb stick into another port? Sometimes that works.

Hm bummer, think i'm going to contact gigabit to see if i can get a replacement board. Thanks for testing. Did you try removing the RAM and putting it back? For some reason I had to install it twice before the ram was detected. Also that board only accepts max 1600 MHz RAM. As a last resort you can also try updating the BIOS see if that "unlocks" any mysteries.... I tried it 3 times, however, it looks like some 'pins' where the cpu makes contact with are bend, even with my glasses on i can't see it good :/. Can make a good picture, its just to small... So maybe that could be the cause.

Can try and report back? Or is this server currently running in production?
-
What are the CPU specs of the other boards?
-
^_ this, otherwise, synology might get insight how many uses xpenology.

For internal dns i use xip.io.

Dunnow, i got them via webarchive. You mean something like ddns? If i can get that working, that would be awesome. Just looked in to what a netboot server is, looks nice, will look into this.

You almost answered your own question . As far i can see the SATA controller is a intel one, which is good. So, i would advice you the Asus one, because its cheaper and it has a good chipset.

Hi all, As you all may know, xpenology.nl is down. Which is sad, because that site had valuable tutorials. So i decided to make a new xpenology site. See the development site here: https://dev.myxpenology.com/ What does it has currently: - Most tutorials from xpenology.nl (Credits to poechi!) - A 1 on 1 copy of this forum (Just in case of...) Working on: - XPEnology system advisor - Hardware database If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
-
Yes! I'm busy with a brand new xpenology site. https://dev.myxpenology.com/ It also mirrors this forum, so if it got taken down somehow, we still have all the info =).

H97N is Gigabyte right? Can you use 16GB of ram? When i use GB with that board it refuses to boot, i don't even see the bios.
-
Thats its 'stuck' in the outbox means that is hasn't been read yet.

1) Correct, only the bootloader is installed on the USB stick. 2) The software DSM uses is mdadm raid, a generic linux raid. So yea, if you know the commands, you can recover from the hardware fails.
-
What kind of router do you use? Do you have DD-wrt? The architecture is like this: Radius server <-> Router <-> wifi clients Wifi clients can connect using the login and password from their user on DSM. If you want you can use LDAP users for this.
-
Default web port is always port 80. From there, DSM will redirect to https if that setting is enabled.
-
What package is behind that password wall?
-
The one you entered during install.
-
If i have some free time tomorrow, i'll setup a vm with 5644.4 and a pptp vpn and test it.
-
What chipset does you laptop has? What brand and model is it?
-
Is this for DSM or Photo station?
