I would go for a SAS controller with 4 ports on it. Posted via MyXpenology

This one has 10 sas ports: http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series_R750-Overview.htm You can covert 1 sas to 4 sata, so on this card you can attatch up to 40 disks. Posted via MyXpenology

With smartctl I was able to read the health info, which was fine. Next I deleted all the partitions on the disk using gParted. Put drive back in and my NAS is happy again. Posted via MyXpenology

Hi all, 1 of my 4 disks just crashed, i can't get any info, no status, no smart, nothing. I quickly made an backup to an external server. Is there a way to test if the disk is really dead? Or if it just was a hick-up? Shall i shutdown Xpenology until the new disk arrives? Ty in advance.

The beta won't run, you can't make volumes so its basiclly useless. We'll have to wait till the release. Posted via MyXpenology

Can you try raw device mapping? Posted via MyXpenology

In many topics people discourage the use of quickconnect. If too many people use the service then synology maybe go crazy and full encrypt their os. Posted via MyXpenology

It is possible to install the beta with a few tweaks, but as far as i know, you won't be able to create new volumes. Release date of DSM 6 is somewhere in April / May. Posted via MyXpenology

How is the webserver speed? When i install drupal, its just slow. So if you're going for a CMS (Wordpress, Drupal, joomla), i suggest offload it to a real webserver. Posted via MyXpenology

Propably, yes. To check run grep /proc/modules and check if the correspondending module is loaded. Posted via MyXpenology

Plex can indeed transcode. But "won't happen until clients have h.265 decode built into their chipset" source: https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/2rso6s/hevch265_support/ Posted via MyXpenology

With such power i hope you installed Xpenology in a VM. I've added some of your hardware to the list (thanks!). However, i can't find the Dell H200 HBA, you do got a link? (Ebay would be great). Posted via MyXpenology

But a reboot is a proper shutdown, so it makes no sense that the cache is cleared upon reboot. Posted via MyXpenology

Hardware DB is live, feel free to add more hardware: https://myxpenology.com/hardware-db Posted via MyXpenology

Alway's a good idea to make bacups when updating. Generic steps - Update bootloader - Update DSM - Reboot - Profit You could also try to upgrade in a VM first. Posted via MyXpenology
