djelusion Posted November 14, 2016 Share #1227 Posted November 14, 2016 does anyone have a link to dsm 6.0 pat file?. looks like this is working... but i dont have a pat file. Google is your friend >>> https://usdl.synology.com/download/DSM/ ... s_8451.pat It's from Synology official servers. yeah i ended up just getting the pat from syno. im testing it with 1 drive i dont want to take a gamble and fubar my main array. so all is a go with a mediasmart server sudo access working fine... now the fun of bouncing data back and forth. btrfs shr is working 1 disk using 8451 update 3 took a reboot after the update as once you update it needs that 2nd reboot otherwise it just sits there. Polanskiman Posted November 14, 2016 Share #1228 Posted November 14, 2016 (edited) You should NEVER get the pat file from any place other than Synology's servers. Edited November 14, 2016 by Guest
realwheel Posted November 14, 2016 Share #1229 Posted November 14, 2016 I am on the same boat. Coming from DSM5.2 where the Smargo reader worked perfectly (detected as /dev/ttyUSB0), now the device is not detected. When I run 'dmesg' after plugging it in I don't even get a notification. So I think it is not detected in any way. The USB port seems to be fine. When I connect a USB stick, I can access it. Tips anyone? First a thanks to the developers of this mighty fine bootloader. I'm using it on a baremetal N54L and all works great, even DVB-T! The only thing I run into is the following. I have a Smargo Smartreader V2 for decrypting DVB-T channels. The device uses FTDI for Serial and is not recognized out of the box. So, I had to install the 'USBSerialDrivers DSM 6.0' package from Jadahl. Now the device is recognised but it won't instsall driver or map to /dev/(ttyUSBx). This is what I see in my dmesg log: [ 241.750500] usbserial: USB Serial deregistering driver FTDI USB Serial Device [ 241.750531] usbcore: deregistering interface driver ftdi_sio [ 327.902940] usbcore: registered new interface driver ftdi_sio [ 327.902966] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for FTDI USB Serial Device [ 327.916916] usbcore: registered new interface driver ti_usb_3410_5052 [ 327.916941] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for TI USB 3410 1 port adapter [ 327.916957] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for TI USB 5052 2 port adapter Is the firmware (ti_3410.fw) present in the DSM 6.0 kernel? How to check? Linux NAS 3.10.77 #8451 SMP Wed Aug 17 05:12:41 CST 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux synology_bromolow_3615xs Has anyone a suggestion? Polanskiman Posted November 14, 2016 Share #1232 Posted November 14, 2016 Next update maybe change the timeout= parameter to default to 3 or 4 seconds. Should be plenty enough Press up/down key before the menu is shown, the same way as you enter BIOS setup screen Yes it's not a problem for me at all. I was simply conveying the message as I have seen a countless number of people missing the menu as it was too fast

mattail Posted November 14, 2016 Share #1239 Posted November 14, 2016 In the various "DSM 6" threads around, i've noticed that many says that setting the sataportmap parameter isn't necessary with Jun's loader v1.01. realwheel Posted November 14, 2016 Share #1242 Posted November 14, 2016 I worked it out (sort of). After trying all your tips, the reader still did not work in any way. Almost ready to throw it out of the window, I tried to insert an old USB 2 Hub between de HP microserver and smartreader. Immediately, the reader started working, exactly as before on 5.2. I tried to remove the hub and immediately it stopped working again. I also tried different BIOS settings regarding USB, bot none worked. Lsusb only shows the device when connected through the hub. So the only way to get the smargo working for now is to use the old (Sweex) USB 2.0 Hub. I am okay with that for now, but if possible I would like to connect the reader directly. look at my smargo info inside chroot:oscam manualy compiled using smargo in libusb instaled all dependencies and libusb-dev 1.0 i think. root@nas:/usr/src/oscam-svn/Distribution# ./list_smargo-1.20-unstable_svn11279-x86_64-linux-gnu-libusb libudev: udev_has_devtmpfs: name_to_handle_at on /dev: Function not implemented Looking for smartreader compatible devices... bus 002, device 005 : 0403:6001 Smartreader2 plus (type=SRv2, in_ep=02, out_ep=81; insert in oscam.server 'device = SRv2;Serial:CCCCCCCC') dmesg after unplug it and plug it again: [36342.567036] usb 2-1.4: USB disconnect, device number 4 [36344.801652] usb 2-1.4: new full-speed USB device number 5 using ehci-pci again, if you guys are using oscam, dont use FTDI drivers, reconfigure your driver to use smartreader protocol, its alot beter [reader] protocol = smartreader device = SRv2;Serial:CCCCCCCC detect = cd work 100%

aol Posted November 15, 2016 Share #1249 Posted November 15, 2016 Quick note to mention that jun's 1.01 loader worked for me on an Intel SS4200-E bare metal with 4 disks as an upgrade from 5.2. I did have issues with migration. I tried several times to install (and reinstall) under the migration path, and the DS just never came back up. So the fourth time I did a clean install and everything came up fine. Of course then I had to recreate more but I honestly don't do much with this server, mainly backup and Plex. Quickconnect didn't work as others have said. Thanks for all the effort and help guys! I followed the tutorial in Polanskiman's tutorial thread, so thanks for that as well. FYI I'm on a Mac so the command to write the .img to the USB is sudo dd if=/path/to/file.img of=/dev/rdiskN bs=1m (not sure the bs=1m is needed but it worked)(rdiskN is the rdisk of your USB, reported by 'diskutil list', e.g. rdisk2) Then I followed the instructions in the follow-up message about mkdir /Volumes/efi;sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk2s1 /Volumes/efi (assuming your USB's EFI partition is disk2s1 as reported by diskutil list) to edit the grub.cfg file and edited my vid, pid, sn, and mac. I did not add the SataMap. The loader/OS found my 4 sata disks without issue. rsync works too. Thanks again. Anyone know if we can update to 6.0.2-8451 update 3?
