Panja Posted May 14, 2014 Share #951 Posted May 14, 2014 I have tried gnoBoot today on my ESXi 5.5 box. Used the original 4458 pat file as well as the 4458 update 2 file. Works great so far. Only one question though... In DSM, checking the hardware, I do not see I'm using 2 CPU cores. I did assign 2 v-cores to the VM. Other builds I've tried (Trantor 4.3 3827, NanoBoot 5.0 4482, and my genuine DS412+ running 5.0 4482) show 2 v-cores in DSM. Am I doing something wrong? Or does gnoBoot not support multiple cores? sancome Posted May 14, 2014 Share #952 Posted May 14, 2014 Because the synobios file gnoboot using is extracted from DSM 4.3, So it can not display the number of CPU cores.
Panja Posted May 14, 2014 Share #953 Posted May 14, 2014 Thanks for the reply. Not showing the cores is ok as long as it uses 2 cores. Does it use the 2 cores assigned? Also one more question. I'm using a Trantor image (esxi 1.2) which uses DSM 4.3 build 3827 but that one shows 2 cores as well. Doesn't it use the same synobios from DSM 4.3? Haochi Posted May 18, 2014 Share #960 Posted May 18, 2014 Hi guys I managede to install gnoboot on a headless server and its running pretty good. When i log into DSM everything is working fine and my resources look great. Its installed natively on a HP Mediasmart server ex490 with a Intel E5700 and 2 gb ram. My problem is when i log in via SSH and run "top" i get some different results (or at least i think i do) Here's a copy/paste of what it looks like. For me it seems pretty excessive that they use that amount of memory, when its a completely new installation without any apps installed yet. Perhaps if i hosted some heavy home pages on the server or something else, but for a new installation i find it odd. Anyone else noticed this or have a good explanation to what is happening here? quickshot89 Posted May 29, 2014 Share #963 Posted May 29, 2014 Has anyone used a jmicron JMB362/363 2 port sata card and got it to work? SK360 Posted June 3, 2014 Share #964 Posted June 3, 2014 Having some issues running gnoBoot and 5.0-4458 Update 2. I ran out of space on my main storage volume so I added a SIL3132 SATA card and another 2TB drive. All was fine, it took about 38 hours to expand and all seemed great. Now I am having an issue where DSM web interface will just stop working. I am getting Internal Server Error - 500 and I can't SSH either. But Sickbeard, SAB, Couchpotato and all my network shares are still accessible. If I hard boot it, DSM will come up for a bit again and then die. Not sure what is going on

SK360 Posted June 3, 2014 Share #966 Posted June 3, 2014 Check if your Web station service is running. Will check it when I can get home to hardboot it. I was hoping I could SSH from work to reboot it but it keeps saying connection reset by peer. It ran for days ok after the card and hard drive were added, I did a Python, SABNZBD and SickBeard update last night from package center and woke up this morning to this issue for the first time. Hardbooted it and it was fine but by the time I got to work I was unable to access the webgui again. SAB/CP/SB are still running just fine and accessible and I can get in via DS File on my iPhone and browse my shares fine. I may try and switch to nanoboot & 4482 when I get home and see what happens or reinstall 4458 and see if it helps.

yabba235 Posted June 5, 2014 Share #974 Posted June 5, 2014 Can anybody trying upgrade from 4482 to 4493 from gnoboot 10.5 ? Gnoboot 10.5 is 4458. You can upgrade with Nanoboot to 4482 or 4493. I know, but my hardware ( Readynas pro 2 ) don't work with nanoboot, so I asking for upgrade from gnoboot not nanoboot. Now my nas working under 4482 installed from gnoboot 10.5 ( whit replace a few files ), and working well
