Hi! If you have an Asustor and you have to bother with their Asustor Portal, I recommend changing fw to qnap TS-253D or 672XT if you have an ssd pcie cache and want to use them in QTS. Now you can use asustor as a computer !!!

I have a question about using qts after vmware - although I tried everything, mounting external usb2 / 3 drives / memory does not work. Dmesg informs me that the device has been connected, but qts cannot see them. I understand what needs to be done to make the disks visible, but what needs to be done to see usb2 / 3 devices? Second thing: only ts1682x works fine under vmware, no other models with fewer disks work properly - can't see disks. That's all for my comments - please give some advice on how to run usb in vmware.

I’m succesfull install dsm 6.2 from loader 1.04b in my vmware machine but not work USB 3 - only if i connect USB 2 stick or disk dsm see it, if i connect any USB 3 equipment vmware show get error : can’t connect USB 3 device. It is limitation of loader 918+ ? My host PC is i5 7300hq with 16GB ram and pcie ssd. BTW From loader 1.03b USB 3 work well. But it is old kernel so i wil use never version. As a beginner in compiling the kernel I may be a stupid question: If it is difficult to compile a kernel for the exported symbols sys_write, sys_read and sys_open and how to do it ? Unfortunately, no interest is to adapt the qnap os. Too bad, because until synology release us from acting hdmi output that their system is behind the qnap and asustor. I managed to run only x86 version of TS-509 in a virtual machine but without a working NIC. Newer versions ( x86_64 ) incorrectly recognize the drive name, and for this reason the system is not booting properly. Version intel qts expects to sdx system partition in a virtual machine, they are presented as sda or sdb sdf and startup scripts qts-a stupid and do not work. The need to analyze and convert init.d scripts in initrd.boot file. I'm for that too thin
