  2. @kelvin701 I managed to boot it from Unraid using haydibe v4. The previous bootloader from Jun was booting using OVMF Bios but the new bootloader I had to use SeaBios to make it work. OVMF just takes me back to bios...no idea why is that. Attached a screen of what I selected... Unfortunately though when I try to install it will stuck at 55% with the message "Failed to install the file. The file is corrupted." I am not an expert but when I use virsh console VM_NAME I have the following output... I do not know if that will help ThorGroup in any way... I do not know if somebody else knows a better command to connect to the Virtual Serial port from Qemu to get more output during installation... 3. As mention by the ThorGroup the procedure to build the bootloader image is kind of difficult (for us the amateurs), Haydibe provided us a zip file that after running some commands will create a docker image and build the bootloader.img for you automatically. I did that, but when I added the image to Unraid's VM (like the synoboot.img we have on unraid to boot DS918+) it does not boot at all, it goes back to BIOS. Maybe something is wrong with the GRUB or the usb is not bootable... ThorGroup said that since Unraid which indeed uses QEMU also it should work without any issue...but again these builds a for developers and not stable...
  4. @kelvin701 I did, and as I posted a few posts back to Haydibe that using his docker image on Unraid it does not boot up. I do not know what is going on. Maybe is something that has to do with GRUB... I have no idea really. Feel free to try though Keep in mind that is still pre-alpha version and is mainly for developers. If it does not work we can wait patiently for ThorGroup to finish their amazing work on the bootloader.
  5. I am not expert in case something is wrong I am just testing your easy solution to build the image. I tried 6.2.4 same issue, tried 7.0 same, even with debian It's the same... Thanks anyway.
  6. @haydibe I used your zip file, Host was Ubuntu 18.04. I changed the values in the Makefile (Vid, Pid etc...) run the commands that your wrote in your post. I also had those warning during the final build and I found the image file in the container's folder image. I have Unraid and when I add that image as the first bootable drive (like Jun loaders) nothing happens, no boot. The VM takes me back to the bios to select from where to boot. I can see the USB but it does not boot. Any ideas or did I do anything wrong during build or missed something...?
  7. I agree to that. Just a kind reminder that this is still not stable but mainly for developers to play around. Be patient and wait for beta testing and better tutorials on how to install it.
  8. @calimansiYes, even with Jun's loader you could modify it to support new models. I think there is a post somewhere that on a Chinese forum, somebody did it for 1019+ (if I am not mistaken). The issue here is that developing a loader to support other models you wont gain anything. For example 3615xs and 3617xs support different amount of cores, the DS918+ supports booting from UEFI and NVMEs. So taking the example with the 1019+ compared to 918+ there is no difference between them, no point of making a new loader if they both offer the same stuff.
  9. I do not know if there is a fix. All I am saying is what he posted here.
  10. I remeber somewhere a read post by Flyride saying something like this... do not expect that when the synology assistant finds your DSM it should work also after boot. They are 2 different things...
  11. @IG-88 does the below helps? [8086:1521] 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation I350 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 01)
  12. I have this https://www.amazon.de/-/en/10Gtek®-Gigabit-PCIE-Network-I350-T4/dp/B01H6NE4X2/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1LDVHK8KG489E&dchild=1&keywords=i350-t4&qid=1626087365&sprefix=I350%2Caps%2C244&sr=8-3 I pass this through and never had an issue with it (DS918+). i350 chips was launched in 2011. I do not see any reason not to be supported.
  13. If this I354 is part of the I350 series it should work fine...
  14. You can find more info here. I do not know if this post can answer all your questions... For now, while kiler129 still tries to make a new loader to support 6.2.4+ there is hope. He answered also questions about DSM 7... in the post he also said that Synology did not do this on purpose in order to stop XPE...they changed the kernel enough to break the loader. This is all they did and it was not in purpose... Anyway, read the post I believe you will find it very interesting and educational.
  15. Nope. I have an AMD 5800x, Gigabyte X570 Master, 32GB Ram... I understand the frustration... I had the same issues with my first build. I had an ASRock Intel Motherboad that had that I219 network chipset and I could not find the DSM with synology assistant. (I was seen the Happy Coding Screen also) then I bought another ASrock board that has 2 ethernet with different chips. I211 and I219. The I211 worked out of the box...
  16. Ok. I will install VirtualBox on my PC. I will give it a go...
  17. I am just throwing ideas on the table... if I am wrong. Apologies.
  18. I am still not convinced that your issue has anything to do with the NIC. I still believe that on a VM selecting the E1000 it should have worked 100%. Never had an issue on my Unraid when I was creating VMs with the DS918+ 1.04b loader and the e1000 virtual network. Never!!! If based on your signature you have that OptiPlex 790 (which has a 2nd Generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7) is understandable why you use the DS3615xs. It wont work on DS918+. Also, looking at your screenshots and based on Flyride's very nice platform guide you see that DS3615 and DS3617 do not support UEFI. But on your screenshots I see that EFI is enabled... if that EFI means enable support for UEFI boot. That will work only on DS918+ (1.04b). I am just throwing ideas on the table...
  19. I found the post I was looking. He bought also a single port "old I350" that is how he described it. Old is good because there is a very good chance that is supported.
  20. https://www.amazon.de/-/en/10Gtek®-Gigabit-PCIE-Network-I350-T4/dp/B01H6NE4X2/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=4+x+intel+gigabit&qid=1625164928&sr=8-10 I have this I350-T4 and I passed it though unraid without any issue. I saw another cheaper one on a different post. I will look into it.
  21. This is what I was writing now "you tempt me to install virtualbox on my PC and give it a go..." Yes it seems that maybe there is an issue with something else. The Virtual Network e1000 is a very old chip from 2002. DSM definitely supports it out of the box. Maybe during boot the Linux Kernel is panicking somewhere else. Regarding the migration, I read other threads that is doable with DSM's migration assistant but definitely look around to confirm it.
  22. I do not want to get too technical all I can say that the Happy Hacking Screen will display even if you have an issue even if you do not. It's a common message... If you want to see what actually is going behind the scenes you need a serial cable. I do not know how this is done virtually... So, NAT and Bridge mode did not work with the Intel 1000MT correct? Why you do not try also the 918+ loader (1.04b)?
  23. Yes, do that. If that does not work then most probably your issue is something else.
