Yes you should set the bios to boot from the USB first.

Hello,
First, sorry for my english but i'm french and not so fluent.
I'm installing xpenology DSM6.2 with loader jun 1.03b on my HP Proliant Gen8.
I need to know if i should configure my 2 HDD en RAID 1 using the hp assisant or if i should let xpenology deals with it ?
Thanks for helping,
Just let DSM create the raid array & you’ll be fine.

Sounds like you may need to recreate them under the new user account.

Hi @Olegin I bought PCIe TP-LINK TG-3468 but still can't access the machine. The Network card is blinking.
@Lefteris Krasias That card has a Realtek chipset which isn't supported in 6.2.2 you need one with an Intel chipset, something like a HP NC360T which has been confirmed as working.

Does anyone know how to make it that the grub menu always boots to the baremetal build option and not anything else? I am unable to reboot the NAS box remotely as when it reboots it will try and run a different option in the GRUB menu.
You can either comment out or delete the unwanted entries.

Is this the list you're looking for: https://www.synology.com/en-uk/compatibility?search_by=products&model=DS3615xs&category=usb_wifi_dongles&p=1

Hi Matthew, welcome to the forum. In short no it's not safe to click update. The N54L will run 6.2 BUT yyou will need to create a new USB drive with jun's 1.03b boot loader, disable the internal NIC & add an intel network card in order to make it work. There are a couple of threads regarding the N54L which I suggest you have a look at if you want to upgrade, however unless you need to run 6.2 my advice would be to stay on 6.1

I am using the 3615xs boot loader and its working fine but I want to try and migrate to 918 with 1.04b boot loader if possible. Has anyone attempted this yet?
Jun's Loader v1.04b DS918+
synoboot-ds918.zip | 20.9 MB | MD5 = 5a5303a154d907b4adf99dfd201769e4
https://mega.nz/#!Cd5RTCCL!VeQkSwEjTG0USuBi4qvJlsyAwRUhC9-o8Zvna5QH2aM
It won't work as 918 includes instructions that require a recent intel chip.

I appreciate the reply, but at this time I cannot boot into DSM to enable SSH to downgrade 😕
If you follow the second tutorial you don't need to boot into DSM, boot into a live Ubuntu USB & delete the system partitions then reinstall whichever DSM version you want.

The forum search is always a good place to start, however have a look at these threads.

Thank you Bobur.
Can you tell me what's the advantage of 3615 over 3617?
3615 is generally more stable on a wider variety of hardware.

Looking for a bit more help I have received the nc360t card I was hoping it would have the Mac address printed on it so I could add it to the boot file for xpynology
But it dose not
What's the best way for me to get the Mac address
Try booting from a live Ubunto USB.

Hi I have a n40l running 1.03b on 6.2 I understand if I want to update past 6.2 I need to install an Intel nic would on like this be ok
Intel PRO/1000 CT Desktop Adaptor PCI Express
If not can you some one recommend one as I see lots off different Intel nic at different prices
The one that most people with Gen7 microservers seem to use is the HP NC360T. Don't forget that you'll need to disable the onboard NIC & DS3615XS image is recommended as it seems to be the most stable.

Have you flashed the bios to enable AHCI mode on the 5th sata port?

Will there be an 3615 release as well? Because my old N40L won't support the newer boot loader.. 🙁
You can run DSM 6.2 on the N40L with jun's 1.03b loader, but you'll need to get a compatible intel lan card. Several forum members have had success using a HP NC360T nic. If you search the forums there are a couple of threads that would be worth checking out.
Is DSM checking SN for video conversion?

Synology's video station doesn't support DTS playback, you will need to install FFmpeg or use something like Plex.
