You’re trying to install 6.2 on the new server, your other server is running 6.3. 6.2 has known issues so try installing 6.3, also don’t forget to ensure that the new server has a different serial number & MAC address to your existing server.

Glad you’re up & running.

Have you disabled C1E in the bios? What DSM version are you trying to install?

Nevermind my last comment, I got it up and running using the base 6.1.7...thanks for the clear instructions.
I did have one follow up question:
Can I do this within DSM (by clicking on "Manual DSM Update") Or do I have to reflash the usb?
Yes you can manually update it.

Control panel\Update & restore\Update settings\Important updates only

@Bungles300arms your data will still be intact, the update only changes the system partitions, if you follow the instructions in this guide you can downgrade to 6.2.3

First welcome to the forum, second there is no need to upgrade to 6.2.4 as it doesn’t bring anything new & 6.2.3 is stable. Going forward it’s unlikely there will be any effort given to make 6.2.4 work given that Synology will be releasing DSM 7 later this year so it would make sense for jun or anyone else to concentrate on that.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it’s not going to work as the N40L has an AMD CPU, VMM requires an Intel CPU.

By the way, I don't know if it's a stupid question. Is it possible to install Xpenology on an SSD? I have a 4tb ssd which I plan to use a main and only drive.
DSM is installed on all drives by default & cannot be changed.

@mbaracit’s good practice to disable the admin account for security. Remember to create an additional user with admin privileges before doing so though.

I’d recommend the bay bios as well, I’ve used it on all my N40 & N54’s.

I use portainer software when Played with Open Media Vault @Dfds
Have heard of other packages you talked about
So would love to hear more
Ouroboros will automatically update any running containers, Heimdall is just a way to organise any links you may frequently use. Mkvtoolnix is a video conversion tool that I sometimes use to remove foreign language streams from MKV files.
The nice thing about running mkvtoolnix & calibre via docker is that they are both updated automatically to the latest version by Ouroboros & I have access to them without needing my PC.
-
I'm a fan of docker too, a few containers you might find useful are: portainer, ouroboros & heimdall. I also have calibre ebook server & mkvtoolnix running as containers.

What issues are you having with VMM?
-
VMM won’t work on the N54L as it requires an Intel CPU.

Have you set USB as first boot device & disabled C1E in the bios. What loader & DSM version are you trying, the N40 will run 6.2.3 with loader 1.03b

According to the ark database the i5-3570T is a 4 core CPU.

PMS = plex media server. What TV is you’re streaming to?
-
You’re probably better off choosing the i5-3570T A’s it’s lower power but still has good performance.

It’s a bit of a hassle swapping the internal drives in the mini, i’ve thought about it but decided against it. If you’re not using the sod from your MacBook you could put it in an external case & use it that way.
-
I agree with @IG-88 an external SSD is the way to go. I have a 2012 i5 Mac mini running Win 10 Pro, VM Workstation 15, a DSM 6.2 VM runs from a 120GB SSD & the performance is acceptable.

Ok, I've just created a new SABnzbd container redirecting 8080 - 44100 & I'm able to access it on port 44100
In the Docker app the port settings for the container look like this:

@AkhilO lol, you’re right. I meant 6.2.3, comes of responding on my phone instead of my Mac.
