I believe that deep learning on the loader dvr3221 also works without a graphics card, I believe that had been said somewhere on the forum.

Understood, then I will try both bootloaders. thank!

Hi,

did anyone tried this on unraid?

Deployment seems to run fine but i have no network after booting DSM.

VM Configuration:

CPU Mode: 4 CPUs (Host Passthrough)

Memory: 2048 MB

Machine: Q35-5.1

Bios: OVMF

USB Controller 3.0 (qemu XHCI)

1st Disk: USB with tinycoe-redpill-uefo.v0.4.6.img

2nd Disk: SATA 1 TB

Network: virtio-net / e1000 / e1000e (test with 3 different network interfaces)

Deployment:

sudo ./rploader.sh update
sudo ./rploader.sh full upgrade

sudo ./rploader.sh serialgen DVA3221

sudo ./rploader.sh satamap
sudo ./rploader.sh identifyusb

test with 3 different releases:

sudo ./rploader.sh build denverton-7.0.1-42218

sudo ./rploader.sh build denverton-7.1.0-42621

sudo ./rploader.sh build denverton-7.1.0-42661

Output of Network looks also good for me:

please try changing the network interface to virtio and adding the v9fs extension that includes all virtio modules and v9fs.

./rploader.sh ext <platform> add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/v9fs/rpext-index.json

then build

./rploader.sh build <platform> manual

In general, avoid using sudo when calling ./rploader.sh . Sudo will be used if that is required by rploader.sh itself.

I've also tried and the ext function fail. I need to look at it. In the meantime you can do the following :

cd /home/tc/redpill-load

 ./ext-manager.sh add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/v9fs/rpext-index.json

cd /home/tc/

./rploader.sh build denverton-7.1.0-42661 manual

Edit :

strange but tried again with

./rploader.sh ext denverton-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/v9fs/rpext-index.json

and it works ...

I find this strange, i used TC and did a test run building a dva3221 loader using the serial generator provided by RP, and i had 8 licenses no problem and never blocked the internet from the device. I have decided to stay on my 918 build on 6.2.3 for now as theres no work around to get hw transcoding to work with this loader or an ability to run more than 2 cameras in dsm7 with 918\920 loaders

I actually bought that DVA3221 physical unit and for the first setup it does search Internet for something, THEN creates volume and the surveillance package automatically. So when I build a red-pill loader for DVA3221 I assume it would do the same and since the key is gen-ed so it fails the test and fall back for normal NAS 2cam license.

In the meantime I'm trying to get a video card to get the AI to work, as I have many jobs to run to search for people/vehicle objects that I need a second unit. I'm thinking purchasing the Quadro P2000 as it's been tested by previous post.

Try with Machine: I440FX to install DSM. In Proxmox, I wasn´t able to make an installation with Q35. I had to change it to I440FX, but once installed, I could change it back to Q35 without any issue. Maybe is the same with Unraid.

Let us know the result, because I never get that far with Unraid.

Thanks franky, I have now also done it with i440fx Version 5.1 without success.

With Q35 i got this error at 55% and with i440fx at 40% during the installation.

image.thumb.png.e1209c03e5ee9710f4650fbb7cfd6932.png

i have already 2 DSM Instances running in Unraid

DS3617xs with DSM 6.2-23739

DS918+ with DSM7.0.1-42218

But i want to have the DVA3221 with the Surveillance Station Licenses :)

This is mainly caused by no synoboot. you can open a browser to http://<yourip>:7681 and login to check if synoboot is there with :

Did you follow @haydibe instructions for creating the VM ? The loader disk has to be on USB and the USB boot option has to be selected at GRUB.

Please see his signature for details.

I was finally able to create a DV3221 VM in Unraid! Thank you both.

But I´m not able to use virtio as network because I get the same error as erazor1112.

[!] Failed to dump extension pocopico.v9fs for platform dva3221_42661 as its recipe file cannot be retrieved. Isn't the extension misspelled or not supported on that platform?

Any idea? I´m totally fine with intel e1000, but virtio would give more flexibility (or maybe I´m mistaken 😀)

Thank you.

Thank you.

I use also the e1000 but this works only when adding the extension and do a manual build:

./rploader.sh ext denverton-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/e1000/rpext-index.json

./rploader.sh build denverton-7.1.0-42661 manual

I tried virtio with different versions without success (denverton-7.0.1-42218, denverton-7.1.0-42621, denverton-7.1.0-42661)

Maybe something wrong with the package, or not compatible with denverton in general...

is there a reason to prefer using virtio or does it not matter?

I dont have a personal experience but users claim that virtio net performance is superior than e1000.

Usually virtual NICs represent 10Gbe or faster (check the port speed for a clue).  This is meaningful if you have a 10Gbe network, or if there are other VMs that can take advantage of the virtual switch internal speed.

If you are only running a single VM for the purpose of running DSM, and your physical NIC is 1 Gbe, it doesn't matter.
