Trantor Posted August 10, 2013 Author Share #26 Posted August 10, 2013 Yesterday I tried all USB ports (MB USB2,USB3, USB3 PCI CARD, CARD Reader with USB3) ... on my SYNOLOGY & they do not work. These is also the reason, why UPS is not recognized . You mean nothing append when you plug an usb device ? I tested USB on two computer with external drive, and it's detected (mount as esata) and available on dsm. Printers are detected. Keyboard is working. (no UPS for testing ) Hi Trantor! Thank you for noting my msg, though I am afraid I was talkig about different drivers - aacraid for SAS/SATA RAID Adapters rather than HBAs, or I completely misunderstand something? PS: would enabling CONFIG_DEVPTS_MULTIPLE_INSTANCES allow virtual port creation to communicate with synobios? If so please enable too. My bad forgot to build AACRAID driver, will be included in next update. No idea with CONFIG_DEVPTS_MULTIPLE_INSTANCES. Trantor, I just ordered a 24bay Supermicro system from eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171078773991?ss ... 1497.l2649 http://www.supermicro.com/aplus/motherb ... 8dme-2.cfm The Supermicro H8DME-2 motherboard in this system contains the following. - nVidia MCP55 Pro SATA2 3.0Gbps Controller - nVidia MCP55 Pro Chipset Dual-port LAN / Ethernet Controller Additionally, it also comes with 3x Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 SATA cards (Marvell Hercules-2 Rev. C0 SATA host controller) http://www.supermicro.com/products/acce ... t2-mv8.cfm 1) Does the current release contain the SATA and Ethernet drivers for the nVidia MCP55Pro? 2) Does it contain the driver to support Marvell Hercules host controller? Thanks. I'll be testing it out once I get the hardware. I'm just curious about the compatibility prior to receive the hardware. Nvidia network is supported as the marvell/nvidia sata controller. My intention was to run this on esxi but the problem is I cannot install esxi on my hardware because to the onboard network intel wg-i217v adapter.. I tried to add the drivers for this adapter with esxi customizer but no luck.. Anyone already succeeded in this?

Trantor Posted August 11, 2013 Author Share #36 Posted August 11, 2013 I dont know what is inside your ver. 3.1-2668(1.2-1.3a), but it works. Nothing that's not in the 4.2. When I ask about other 4.2 build I mean like RS3413xs+ DSM 4.2-3211 x86 or DS3612xs_4.2-3211_x64. To be clear, as you said when you plug for example USB sick nothing append ? even on the xpenology screen ? Try command : tail -f /var/log/message and plug something in USB ports. (some input should appear) Does the plugged device is even powered ? What's about a standard USB keyboard ?
interested Posted August 11, 2013 Share #37 Posted August 11, 2013 I am almost sure, that I did tested all this version, but without any luck. Yes, when I plug in USB Stick nothing append, not even Keyboard on the xpenology screen. FrankGNL Posted August 13, 2013 Share #39 Posted August 13, 2013 Does two VM disks, are they IDE or SCSI? Does spindown work for you? For me installation is working, but when i shutdown the VM, attach my LSi raidcontroller, turn it on, it will auto power off the vm after 1 minute. yes both disk are IDE and spin down works, auto power off happened to me when there was no support for the card. Is your card in IT Mode? Does spin down works even if you create a volume on the disks, why i ask, i would like to buy a LSI SAS 2008 and flash it to IT mode. Thanks in advance Regards Frank

kennyb Posted August 14, 2013 Share #41 Posted August 14, 2013 Hi, I'm trying to install this repack in ESX but still no luck.. I did the following: - Converted the .img to .vmdk with starwind (IDE, pre-allocated) - Mapped my 2TB disk as RDM as in the idiot's guide for install on esx - followed the idiot's guide to create VM, added the boot image as an IDE drive, and the RDM as a Paravirtual SCSI drive - boot the VM - With synology assistant search, right click and install - during install the device will get a reboot - after this reboot i get the grub error 22 - shut down VM - deleted the disk with boot vmdk - reuploaded the boot vmdk - assigned it to the VM - boot the VM - the installation completed after the countdown (think 600 sec) - tried to browse to the IP I gave during install - got the error it can not connect to the diskstation - assistant finds the DS but says configuration lost What am I doing wrong here? My pc is directly connected to the esx server. Pc is also connected to a wireless router, different subnet but this should not matter.. Plz help! Thx

Kanedo Posted August 16, 2013 Share #44 Posted August 16, 2013 Trantor. I got my new server. NVidia NIC and SATA works with this build. However the Marvell SATA cards do not. Whenever I have the Marvell SATA cards installed, the boot-up process would not complete. I would get this error continuously during bootup Screen Shot 2013-08-15 at 9.08.00 PM.png
Kanedo Posted August 20, 2013 Share #45 Posted August 20, 2013 As an workaround to my Marvell problem, I can boot if i append grub's kernel line with libata.force=pio4 However, this yields terrible performance. This seems rather bizarre since this card is suppose to support SATA2. Trantor, any ideas?

Whenever I have the Marvell SATA cards installed, the boot-up process would not complete. I would get this error continuously during bootup Screen Shot 2013-08-15 at 9.08.00 PM.png I have to report the same problem is present with the Rocketraid 1742/1740 PCI-based controllers, also based on a Marvell SATA-controller, specifically the 88SX6042-chip. The problem is *not* present on a generic PCIe-based controller with the Marvell 88SX7042-chip, nor on the Promise TX4310 PCI-based controller that has a Marvell 88SX5041. So clearly one of the Marvell-modules is broken...? I seem to recall that I previously had the Rocketraid 1742 working correctly, with an early build of QNOLOGY from XVortex on the QNAP-site...
