  1. Install this script, super easy, will show actual cpu details instead of reading details from db based on model of build DSM and RP will not limit your cpu usage or ability regardless what info panel reports.
  2. I just added the acpid ext to one of my baremetal builds, that was working fine. DSM 7.1.0-42661 running no problems. Booted back to tiny core. issued these commands ./rploader.sh ext apollolake-7.1.0-42661 add https://github.com/pocopico/redpill-load/raw/develop/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json ./rploader.sh build apollolake-7.1.0-42661 ./rploader.sh clean now; rm -rf /mnt/sdb3/auxfiles; rm -rf /home/tc/custom-module; ./rploader.sh backup now; sudo reboot let it reload back to dsm, waited a few minutes and then pressed the power button on the box (this is a baremetal build on another brand nas box) and it shut down correctly and safely. 🖖🤩 so pretty happy about that.... I am curious, after adding the ext line in tc, do you have to build image? or just add ext and reboot to loader without the build command?
  3. 🟥 The TSU procedure was wrong!? 🤣🤪 We were never supposed to build 7.0.1, clean, build 7.1!!! Oh well.... No complaints, it worked for me.
  4. Does mvsas support dsm7.1 42661 ? mvsas.ko v0.8.16 - Marvell 88SE6440/88SE9480 SAS/SATA controller driver I am going to say no since it is not in @pocopico ext github? I ordered the wrong item, and ordered a AOC-SAS2LP-H8IR which as I understand uses the Marvell 9480 chip set, not an LSI chip set. So I can not return the card, so if I can use it great, if not, oh well..... I think I need the mvsas driver if its available for tcrp 7.1 42661
  5. I tried the interactive script after seeing you mention it in another thread. the best part was being able to see the available ext for adding. otherwise (honestly) it seemed like it was kind of abandoned and didnt get a lot of thought. First thing should change is the background color, make it black easier to read. But a current interactive list of available modules, drivers, etc... that would be a welcomed step in the process. I dont remember when I tried it if that was part of the interactive shell? I think it was? ANYWAY! Thanks to all who contribute to this project and these forums.
  6. I couldnt have said it any better! A few people here really try to help the best they can @IG-88@pocopico@Peter Suh and many others I cant remember at 3am. I learned a lot by reading thru older posts myself. Not sure many do. The more detailed an explanation the first time an answer is given, the easier it is for everyone to understand in the present and in the future when they search for that answer later on. I have read some of the german threads ig88 contributed too (translated as I understand only english) and gained valuable information there too! (hint: search) USB vs SATA: The usb loader literally boots the system in seconds, and most have incredible up times... speed is a null factor imo...I personally see zero benefit to booting from a sata device on baremetal, sata dom or not. For those who dont want a usb loader hanging out the back, look up SanDisk Cruzer Fit. Super cheap, 16gb and tiny. Pocopico listed the perfect solution for those who find it cosmetically unpleasant to use an external usb, amazon sells a usb header to internal usb a socket... boom! All the prosumer nas I have opened all boot from usb so a custom built one booting from usb makes 100% sense to me. I think maybe some people are confusion this project with other nas solutions like unraid and truenas?
  7. @nemesis122 What does MANUAL do? I have not seen that command.
  8. 3622 uses upto 24 so you're covered. edit: Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to talk you into or out of any build, just saying the whole idea of the dva unit as a whole is a NVR first and NAS second. Thats why they cost 5x as much. If the user not going to use surveillance station and specifically the AI of it, and is more interested in quicksync hw transcode for plex, other options are readily available in other threads. the 3622 uses upto 24 threads.
  9. Honestly, the whole appeal of this build is the CCTV stuff.... I would think another build (918) would be a better choice if you have a 4th gen or newer intel cpu. But hey, thats just me
  10. So are you saying, after installing dsm (synoIP:5000) when it reboots, deny it internet access and wait and you will get the 8 licenses? am I following you?
  11. Is there a serialgen for the dva3221 in rploader? and if so, I'm guessing it does NOT activate all 8 licenses?
  12. I was reading some old posts from @IG-88 saying even if the disk order gets mixed or randomized it ok because dsm knows where they are, even if you dont. the only time its important is in the event of drive failure and replacement.... but of course you should want them in the correct sequential order just saying it will function either way. complete side note, I just won a H200 on ebay for $20 so I'm pretty excited about that.
  13. I'm lucky I guess, I have done the tsu7.1 build 3 or 4 times and never checked, as it always worked. I have not used @Peter Suh m.sh or my.sh script yet. I just ordered some server stuff (mobo, cpu, ram, hba, etc) to build (for me) a beast nas so I will use his script next build. I may make a proxmox machine just I can test future building methods before deploying on baremetal.
  14. all ext links can be found and linked here https://github.com/pocopico/rp-ext ./rploader.sh ext <platform> add <link>
  15. @pocopico@Peter Suh am I reading your script correctly, you can just build a 7.1.0-42661 loader alone, without TSU and first building 7.0.1-42218? update fullupgrade serialgen/usbid/satamap build clean reboot?
  16. its supposed to be ./rploader.sh ext <yourplatform> add <url> example: ./rploader.sh ext broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/r8152/rpext-index.json However, its been said by many acpid is automatically added in the misc recipes during build command, and no need to manually add it....while that may be true, acpid pressing the button does NOT shut down my systems either. Even though I manually added it too.....ymmv there is a complete how to 7.1 here
  17. Yes I edited to reflect that, I had seen so many with ports labels 0 and 1, A and B, horizontal, vertical.... But I did read with original firmware ports are as labelled on the board, after p20 it mode fw ports gets reversed...? no? Bottomline, you have yours working as above, port a -> disks p1 p2 p3 p4, and port b -> p1=5 p2=6 p3=7 p4=8 (at least all the cables I've seen always say p1-p4 on both cables)
  18. So the cable in port A is always drive 1-4 and the cable in port B is 5-8 (after you did lsiutil) correctly? and port A and B got reversed after it mode flash correct? I read after it mode flash port A is on top (so port A and B, top to bottom) otherwise its the otherway around. ports B on top and A bottom I dont have an hba card yet, I am working on it to build a giant nas to backup everything in my homelab... so 12 to 16 disks maybe.
  19. Awesome find and terrific detailed explanation. Many thanks from me!!
  20. it should be ahci. if you successfully booting to loader, and see ip:5000 and it says no disc detected in other model besides 920/1621 then your sata drivers are maybe not loading. i know you can check from tc with lspci -nnqk (I think is the right options) and it will show sata controller (and all pci) and what driver is loaded if any, should say ahci (short snip from one my boxes, just to show you) root@DS:~# lspci -nnqk 0000:00:12.0 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation Celeron N3350/Pentium N4200/Atom E3900 Series SATA AHCI Controller [8086:5ae3] (rev 0b) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:7270] Kernel driver in use: ahci
  21. Should this work with just SAS to SATA cables too? (no backplane?) Then to label the cables accordingly (ie: 0>1:5>2:2>3:3>4:4>5:6>6:1>7:7>8) I wish I could find an hba card <- jealous Great Job! Thanks given
  22. @Peter Suh correct me if I'm wrong, fullupgrade replaces the user_config.json, so his @haldi 7.0.1 serial/mac will be reset in user_config.json.. it should be stored in tc/home/old or you could simply copy it to local storage before doing any 7.1 loader building, and verify after fullupgrade that user_config.json is correct on tc/home and proceed. It probably a good idea to verify user config just before build 7.1 build to be 100% sure anyway, but I am overly cautious. edit: to copy user config you can use winscp in windows and I think peter suggests portx for mac. (not sure about mac since I am windows, winscp for sure and is free download just google it)
  23. @nabito verify in bios, your sata is set to ahci (not raid or other options) and if you have a hot swap option, set to on/enable. dont mess the 920 yet, its not quite ready yet. do as @gadreel suggests, try 3615 or 3617
  24. I am very excited to test 920. Been waiting for some confirmation of success....
