@IG-88 Regarding transcoding in Plex, I've spent all day yesterday testing on three platforms. DSM 7.01 u2 with automatically generated SN. DS918+. Cpu Intel 8th gen. works oob. Cpu Intel 10th gen not working. Cpu Intel J5040 not working. (surprisingly because is closest to 918+) Same results with real SN. All three platforms transcoding well on OMV. On the only working platform (8th gen cpu) results are not good. While Video station was transcoding 4K HDR without problem, plex was struggling with the same file. Transcoding hw visible in dashboard of Plex. So, finally, the implementation of Quicksync transcoding in Plex is not implemented very well. Comments on Plex forum are similar. The problem is on Plex side. One of the Plex employ comment that DSM is not exposing the subsystem for transcoding. P.S. I've tried all the "tricks" known. Using docker run of PMS for using /dev/dri in native PMS. Adding VaapiDriver="i965" in preferences file etc. People are having problems on original synology after upgrade (depends on the model). So the story on Plex transcoding hw doesn't give much hope for the moment.

About transcoding in Plex, in dsm 7.-1 918+ is not working at the moment on newer intel cpu's (my is 10 gen). I've tried different methods using plex forums (docker and native Plex media sever together workaround on original Synology) with no success. Maybe IG-88 will find solution modifying i915 from previous dsm.

@pocopico First THANK You. I've installed apollolake-7.0.1-42218 just fine. I think that script didn't recognize Intel cpu 10 gen and i915 ko is not compiled, because I have no /dev/dri folder neither hw transcoding in Plex. Should I do something manually or anything else?

Hi, Thanx for the tutorial. I'm on 6.2.3 , Raid 0, btrfs. Want to save data partition using this method. After using the part of the tutorial to assemble partitions everything seems o.k. but when I try to mount I'm receiving this error: Anybody knows what's going on. The disks are with different size.

Due to problems with one hdd (hopefully solved) I've checked the prices of HDD's in local store. One hdd which costs 250 Euros two months ago now costs 400 E. And my local seller told me that trend will continue. After "chinese" coin depended on storage arrives there will be shortage of hdd's on a market (joining the chips shortage). I'm curious is it the same story everywhere?

I'm receiving UNC error twice this month on one WD 6TB hdd. Reporting bad sectors. I've done extended smart test and drive reported healthy, no bad sectors. But today drive reported with abnormality by dsm. I'm on 918+, 6.2.3. SHR, on Asrock mb J5040, hdd is connected on MB SATA. Prices on hdd's are going up in my country and I'm not sure what to do.

In my case it was a cable problem. Now I have 3 Ironwolf 8TB, no complain.

Reading around about mars ransomware, it might be the rdp flaw, because , in my case, wasn't opening an email attachment, or, like I mentioned before, maybe, it was bad password on router. Don't know, but awful experience and kinda offensive because you are taking personally, finally, you receive personal message with criminal content. But thank you for paying attention.

My conclusion on matter. Ransomware mars made changes only to folders mounted on boot in windows. That was easy way to maintain plex media library with tinymediamanager. So, that was my short win 10 experience, I'm back on Manjaro now. Now I'm praying for successful copy all my data back and thinking about third server for backup.

Yes I'm using btfrs, no snapshots. I'm making backups with rsync on another xpenology nas, weekly, I've already formatted my infected nas and after checking integrity of storage pool I'l start copying files back from backup, which will take three days but, it is what it is

Just found hijack.explorer,sysytem.restore in Win10. Luckily I havenot power on my backup nas. I'm going back to linux and restore from backup.
