No boot loader screen? Nothing? I have also a bloody bastard HP Elite Desktop that cannot boot from USB. If I burn a CDROM, everything is fine. Now I screw a small CDROM into the box behind a cover and that works good. So it boots up from internal CDROM. But I made this for 5.2 and not for 6.1. But I think its the same.

If we talk about hardware accelerator for video, is it possible to add an NVIDIA or AMD card to my ESXi and use this as a hardware accelerator in the ds3617 FW?

I had installed it with 1.02a2 and DS3617 on ESXi 6.5 and it works fine. It runs longer than 48h without any issue. Right know I switch it of because it was only a test. I use the pure syno img without any changes of serial or MAC.

Not sure. Jun wrote something that he made some code changes for better matching xeon cpu.

Efficiency setup is really hard for me. Have a Dell T620 with 16 Cores and 32 threads. Its no different if the cores runs idle with or without assign to a vm.

Compare DS3615 vs DS3617 big different is the CPU. Means Intel Core i3-4130 vs Intel Xeon D-1527. The Xeon have 4 cores with 8 Threads and the Core only 2 cores with 4 threads. I test the DS3615 in vmware and give them more than 4 cores and run into trouble. With the Xeon I have the capability to use 8 cores. Thats great for a machine that also using for a Plex server.

So I try the new 1.02A2 build with DS3617xs to see if time bomb exist on that release. One bad thing, if I run dmesg I get at the end following message: [15235.595668] Can't get Core 8 temperature data [15235.595670] CPU count larger than MAX_CPU 2: 2 [15235.595672] CPU count larger than MAX_CPU 2: 2 [15235.595674] CPU count larger than MAX_CPU 2: 2 I had configure the VM with 8 cores, because the original DS have also a CPU with 8 Threads (4 core with HT). Don't know was this message have an impact. Edit: Saw at top another message that is different... [0.000000] smpboot: Allowing 8 CPUs, 0 hotplug CPUs

Most of the time the problem with hard disk bigger than 2 TB based on booting. But you boot from USB. Sometimes very old MB generate an BIOS error if you connect a drive larger than 2 TB. But this can resolved very often with the latest bios. Try it with an USB drive if your NAS will see that drive correct. Please give your result back to community.... thx

Quick connect hat den Vorteil bei DSLite. Also wenn man nur ne IPv6 bekommt und das bei einem Provider auf IPv4 umgesetzt wird. Eine Portweiterleitung funktioniert dann nicht auf dem Router. Quick Connect geht aber immer noch. Das ist meines erachtens der einzige Vorteil

Have somebody an ISO file for 6.0.2? Problem is, I have a s*** mainboard (old one but 4 core) that is not able to boot from USB. ISO file works good. I try it with 5.2 and that works very good (burn it to boot from CDROM). But 6.0.2 have BTRFS support .... Thanks -
Hi, see no Audio driver. Have here some DELL Optiplex 160 and want use the onboard audio chip to use it with squeezelite.I install squeezelite but it doesn't find any audio device. So I believe there is no audio driver included inside 6.0.2 for onborad chip. Can somebody told me if its possible to get a driver for this? Thanks Stefan

Read somewhere here that 17xs works a little bit better with xeon, but don't find the post again.

Sehr schöne Anleitung. Habe ich sogar meinen alten Dell Optiplex 160 zum laufen gebracht. Leider nach Update 9 nicht mehr erreichbar. Also nur noch bis Update 8. Edit: Habe das NAS, was gestern nach dem Update auf 9 nicht mehr lief, noch mal eingeschaltet. Uns siehe da, jetzt geht es wieder inklusive Update 9. Seltsam.

Hi Rick67, take care. Everyone having trouble with DS3617. Use DS3615. DS 3617 will not work after few days. Made same experience and use now DS3615.

Hi, that looks good. I think my problems are comes from: 1. Using at first ds3617xs image. Having problem after one or 2 days run-time 2. Using to many cpu cores. More than 4 generates an error. Now I run 4 cores with ds3615 and will test it if it runs stable. Your screenshot shows me that this configuration is more stable...

Find my error with an empty General page. I also get an error if I run dmesg. This was related to a wrong numbers of CPU cores. With 6 cores I get that problem. With 4 cores everything runs fine. Also dmesg is working.
