Follow with issues on DSM 7.2 and all loaders.

I told with Chris because on VMWare I lost the connection after days or hours and I have to restart, it's like the VM will be freeze. I understand that it will be VMWARE's issue because occur with all loaders.

I use VMware® Workstation 17 Pro. Is there any logs on Synology for know what si the issue?

I was running DSM-7.1-42661 U1 DS3622xs+ on baremetal and I've decided to upgrade to 7.2.0-64570.

So I went as follows:

  1. manually installed 7.2 via GUI
  2. after reboot I tried to "recover" but no-go, so just turned off
  3. flashed tinycore-redpill-uefi.v0.9.4.9.img into usb drive
  4. generated user_config.json, edited to put real mac and old SN, then built DS3622xs+ platform

Then I booted from USB drive but got bootloop. So I decided to try m-shell. I downloded it from github and performed simple cmd:

my.sh DS3622xs+ noconfig

Everything went fine, got new grub boot option (TCRP Friend) and I booted.

Still bootloop.

I can see booting messages like on screen, there is "HTTP Synology Web Assistant (BusyBox httpd)" service may take 20-40 seconds. (Network access is not immediately available). Kernel loading has started, nothing will be displayed here anymore" on screen, then after 2-3 seconds my machine just reboots.

Does it look like a kernel panic? How to debug it, how to know what's going on?

M-SHELL also provides a menu, so why use a command?
Command used to build 7.1 loader, not 7.2.
Can't see the menu?

However, the result of the FRIEND kernel shows 7.2.
It seems that other commands or methods other than the above commands were used.
Anyway, the phenomenon that the kernel reboots is highly likely to have occurred as expected.
Kernel panics are sometimes difficult to analyze with logs,
Rebooting makes it harder to check.

In the end, it seems that there is no other way than to connect to the serial console menu and trace the last message before rebooting.

It is also very difficult to match the environment in which the serial console can be used.

Are you using M.2 NVMe?

Please also detail your hardware specifications.

BAREMETAL - old terminal Fujitsu Futro S720 with AMD GX-217GA + 4GB RAM + ASM1061 PCIe to SATA 3.0 adapter.

Is this spec currently in use?

Well, i'd like to get out of this issue, no matter if it's fiend or jot :)

My setup is still the same Futro S720 with AMD GX-217GA + 4GB RAM + ASM1061 PCIe to SATA 3.0 adapter. Internal SSD is m.2 SATA as far as I remember. ASM1061 is used to attach 2x3.5 HDD.

What "menu" are you talking about? How to bring it up?

Is it possible to rebuild loader to match DSM somehow?

When you enter TCRP Loader Build, you should see a menu like the one below.
if you can't see
Could you try running ./menu.sh ?

It seems that I've fixed my installation :)

I've flashed tinycore-redpill-uefi.v0.9.4.9.img and operated m-shell by downloading it from github. Now I've flashed tinycore-redpill-uefi.v0.9.4.3-2.m-shell.img and automatically got menu. Then configured & built 7.2.0-64570 via menu using JOT and viola! It's working now!

Thank you Peter for your instant support.

Help in solving the problem. After assembling the bootloader, DSM does not appear on the network. While the loading report (7 seconds) is going on, then it disappears immediately.
I tried:
1) wait 20 minutes
2) 7.2 and 7.1
3) Friend and Jot
4) DDSML and EUDEV
5) on the motherboard (MSI Z590 TORPEDO) two network (I225-V and I219-V), used both one at one.
6) Tinycore-Redpill.v0.9.4.3-2.m-shell.img and tinycore-redpill-uEfi.v0.9.4.3-2.m-shell.im
7) HDD alone and without sections
8) other bootloaders with a similar problem.

Can you show the error log conversion status by pressing “g” key within 7 seconds?

It is accurate to see the kernel boot log, but is only one of the two nics activated in the bios? Otherwise, if both are active, it's a bit rational. Only one is being detected on the screen. How are the 2 nic led ports responding?

These screenshots are from an attempt when only I219-v is active. At the moment, the LEDs seemed to be inactive. When I turned on I used I225-v, both blinked for how long I don’t know, but the result is the same, the console (press G) did not turn on at that moment.

I can try something else tomorrow and pay attention to the LEDs in more detail.

The same.
Tried DS3615, DS3622, DS920, UEFI and Legacy.
On I219 - the LEDs are off, and on I225 one is on, the other is blinking, but DSM does not appear on the network. The console is empty, as in the screenshot above.

I also have a 2.5Gbps i225, but I've experienced that it's impossible to predict the behavior of the NIC based on the LED's response.
Even in the absence of PING, there is a false phenomenon that the LED indicates an operating state.

Anyway, without log analysis, it seems difficult to find out the cause of those two NICs not working.

hello Peter, I have a question regarding latest version v0.9.4.3-2 of https://github.com/PeterSuh-Q3/tinycore-redpill:

Is it a bug that I cannot open links to Synology account? Url doesn't open in any browser or device at all. Thanks in advance.

I didn't understand your question. Do you mean quick connect?

There are 2 url links in Info Center section where it says "sign to your account":

1)Synology account

2)QuickConnect

Both of them are non clickable anywhere, not at start up, not anywhere in DSM

I used the m-shell in esxi from the github.

I am virtualizing it but passing through a HBA.

Here are my settings for the VM, I would have had a 50gb hard drive but I learned that the more data controllers I had then I would see less drives.

image.thumb.png.cbe0a7fe605b4e5736636f3ae0cb3bed.png

I have moved the drives around and reinstalled it several times but I the max number of drives I could see was 6 of 8. I also noticed that all the drives were 33-38

image.thumb.png.6f12f2bda2a0f5b0f6322dbade3e1b59.png

I am not familiar with the tools or what commands I could do to fix. If I am missing any information to provide please let me know and ill provide them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

In my case, I first created a QUICK Connect ID on the Synology homepage with a genuine Synology serial.
Since then, I have been logging in through the QuarkConnect page,
In this way, the Synology Account or QuarkConnect ID will be enabled to be edited while maintaining QuarkConnect.

And, the Edit sign should be visible like this, isn’t it?

The example below is an example of my backup XPE not yet connecting QUICK Connect.

Can you show the result of running the command below in the 4th empty terminal window on the loaderbuild menu like the image below?

tce-load -iw scsi-5.10.3-tinycore64.tcz

ll /sys/block

In my case in both DSM 7.1.1 and 7.2 those links "Edit" don't open new page for login at all. Non clickable :) doesnt matter what I click quarkconnect or anything else it just doesn't open so its impossible to sign in. Checked on APRL, Arc, TCRP 0.9.3.0 works fine.

On Tinycore linux I checked the existence of 8 disks fine from sdb to sdi except for sda. Finally, I want to confirm more. In FRIEND, initialize with Ctrl+C within 7 seconds and let me know the result of the command below once more.

ll /sys/block | grep sd

I'm not sure since you didn't mention which Synology modal you're using, but I'd expect it to be different for each model. My case is with the recently added model DS1823xs+. I don't think such a difference occurs because the environment file is configured separately for each model. Tell us your model and we will retest you too.
