  1. I do not know how to set proxmox, but in ESXi, it is ideal to allocate Tinycore image to SATA 1:0 and Data Disk to SATA 0:1. If a similar setting is possible, please try it. Also, try setting SataportMap to 9 and DiskIdxMap to 0.
  2. Hi All, First of all, thank you @pocopico and @Peter Suh Here are my findings. Last week I was testing to install DSM 7.0.1-42218 on several machines. First I used a SuperMicro server with an Intel Xeon L5630 cpu and 24Gb of ram. So far so good, I could install version 7.0.1-42218 and installation is successfull. After reading a lot posts over here, I tried to upgrade from 7.0.1-42218 to 7.1.0-42661 and it failed using the instruction of @Peter Suh Even if I first installed 7.0.1-42218 complete and then upgrade, it failed, keeps nagging about corrupt file. When I tried to do a fresh install, samething, keeps nagging about corrupt file, even when I downloaded the file from the cache on TC, same thing. The following instructions was entered: Then after hours of trying I used the Dell R320 to give it a try. Installing DSM 7.0.1-42218, perfect it runs and see all the drives. The did a full wipe (so to have a clean installation, even drives where wiped). Entered the instructions as noted by @Peter Suh And it starts up to DSM 7.1, but just with one drive (no other sataport/drive where found). Again, started to TC, did a clean instruction and changed the satamap to the following: "SataPortMap": "46", "DiskIdxMap": "0000" rebuild everything again with ./rploader.sh build broadwellnk-7.1.0-42661 rebooted the server and started to DSM 7.1, did the installation steps en all drives where found. It looks like something about which components you use ? With every server I used, I have changed the mac adres to the mac adres from the nic's I have installed now DS918+ on an asrock motherbord with an Apollo Lake cpu on it running DSM 7.0.1-42218 Will try to do an upgrade to DSM 7.1.0-42661 next time and will write to outcome here.   3. I finally got my ethernet adapter to work on Unraid. However, now I am struggling with the disks to work. I've got the loader as a USB, and got one virtual SATA disk. When I run lspci -nnq I see 1 SATA controller with 6 disks (which is weird?). I've set my virtual disk as first one. When I run the satamap I get these values: SataPortMap=6 DiskIdxMap=00 Those seem logical but it gets stuck on 55% when installing. How can I retrieve the correct values? I don't really understand how/why the controller returns there are 6 disks. Should I try 1 and 00?

For example, DiskIdxMap=030600 means the disk name of the first host start from sdd, the second host start from sdq, and the third host start sda. in theory both contradict as the 1st controller has 6 ports but you idx give it just two ports available (00 and 01 and 02 is give to the 2nd controller) as you can see all 8 disks it seems all posts are mapped and the four ports skipped of the 1st controller are not used (maybe used as esata in qnap's hardware?) DSM QNAP 1 7 2 8 3 5 4 6 5 3 6 4 7 2 8 1 so its nicely in pairs as if 4 x 2port current DiskIdxMap is 00020406 you want it the other way around last pair 1st (starting 00) the one before that is to be ssen in dsm as 2nd pait starting with 02 ... so its 06040200 the only problem is that the order on the last controller is swapped, resulting in only nearly good mapping for fixing the 2 1 to a 1 2 you could try sata_remap or DiskSeqReverse (see link above in the tutorial section, you can extend the hidden part to read about all the stuff synology has) so it would be DiskSeqReverse=0002 or DiskSeqReverse=2000 and if that does not work for you you can try the other (remapping ports) sata_remap=7>8:8>7 or sata_remap=0>1:1>0 its two variety's for the command because i'm not sure if its done before DiskIdxMap is executed or after it

I tried with one single HD inserted in SATA0 of the first controller in grub i used sataportmap=1, diskixdmap=00. hotplug is 1 and in bios the hotplug is enabled for all SATA Again i could install but it keeps rebooting into installer into an infinite loop I also tried sataportmap=4224 and diskidxmap=00020408 and sataportmap=4224 and diskidxmap=00040608. all same result infine loop of installer.... This is the log when i look for the first SATA port, and start the installing process by uploading the *.pat file it does see sd 0:0:0:0 [sda] But for some reason it cannot format the partitions correctly and mount it to /dev/md0 ....   6. I need some help regarding Installation Loop on my xpenology installation. According RenegadeBE's post at https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/52847-dsm-701-42218/?do=findComment&comment=264321. the BAREMETAL - ASRock Rack C2550D4I should work. So i gave it a shot upgrading from DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3 - Jun's 1.03b bootloader. The only difference is that my Xpenology is a ASRock Rack C2750D4I.   9. На моей мамке h81m-p33 при генерации загрузчика всегда указывал "SataPortMap": "1" "DiskIndMap": "00" не смотря на то что автоматом генерил "SataPortMap": "4". Т.к. указвая число отличное от 1 всегда не видел диски. Потом после установки через SSH правил SataPortMap на нужное значение и получал нужное количество дисков. Но обращаю внимание, что если указать "SataPortMap": "1" , то и диск физически надо подключить к самому первому SATA порту на мамке (у кого то это SATA1 у кого то SATA0) смотрите маркировку портов на мамке. А про мою мамку и ей подобным может и у вас такая же пишут следующее: Если чипсет типа обрезка Н81, то картина дисков будет 12хх56, хх - 3 и 4 порты система использует под другие нужды не sata ... отсюда все проблемы. При установке попробовать SataPortMap 2 (но я использовал SataPortMap 1 потом правил), потом поменять или другой контроллер дисков воткнуть ..   10. Всем привет. Научился кто-нибудь писать правильные параметры в DiskIdxMap и SataPortMap? Задолбался уже флешки перезаписывать) То ошибка диска 2 (минимум до чего добрался), то дисков вообще не видит. Пробовал так же и 1 диск оставлять - ничего не меняется по ошибкам. Материнка китайская по ним вообще толком ничего не найти. Могу, если что с рабочей системы с загрузчиком от jun посмотреть куда подскажете) Нервов никаких не хватает...

This old post for my confuiguration: I try different configuration of "sataportmap" with value: 5,8,18,0,1,2,3,4,512 ecc. but i have all whenever error on disk.   15. You don't have to worry about the 56% and 57% stop. I think it's because it's a muxed sata board On another board, considering the muxed sata, the sataportmap was shortened, adjusted, and the 7.1 official new installation was successfully. Normal installation is over 61%.

Также как и все планирую обновляться на 7.1 (как будет возможность в загрузчике от tinycore) Сейчас имеется 6.2.3 стоит как DS3617xs. Железо: системник HP Elite на i3 550 4Gb 4xHDD (разного объема) 1Gbit lan Вот какие вопросы: Правильно ли я понимаю, что когда готовится загрузчик по инструкции, он ставится на туже флешку с которой запускается образ? как бы рядом... Судя по железу мне положено ставить DS3615xs (bromolow) а не DS3617xs (broadwell). Будет ли нормально работать DSM 7 если оставлю DS3617xs с текущим железом? В топике есть такая фраза от участника форума XPEH "Одно только отличие с аппарaтным транскодингом, поддерживаемым на DS918+ (Apollolake)". Означает ли что могу и 918+ поставить и не парится? Не нашел информации как все таки выставлять SataPortMap и DiskIdxMap? у меня всего 4 слота сата и все заняты) И последний это вопрос связан с предыдущим. Есть очечнь адекватная рекоменадация "настоятельно рекомендую отключить рабочие диски". Как же все таки правильно? Обновится на 7.1 с одним диском а потом подключить остальные? Для этого сценария не нужно менять SataPortMap и DiskIdxMap ? Заранее спасибо! Если что-то не нашел, ткните плиз носом куда смотреть.

I have 6 sata ports on the motherboard and 4 sata ports on a SATA PCIe x1 Marvell 88SE9215. What would be the correct SataPortMap and diskid? TIA

Device [1b21:0625] (rev 01) SataPortMap is a decimal SINGLE digit number and it cannot be set to 12. Its good though that its the second HBA, you can limit the first one to 5 starting on 00 and leave the rest open.
  22. Hi all, HELP me! i tried to perform dsm 7 baremetal UEFI on old xpenology 6.0. I have a problem on installation of DSM, i find the xpenology with "find.synology.com" but after accept eula the system perform HDDS error. I have tested different combination of "sataportmap"/"diskidxmap" on user_config, but the result is different hdds number error means. With automap i have:"SataPortMap": "512","DiskIdxMap": "000C". On mainboard her have 3 port SATA and onather pci with 6 port SATA. I try:"SataPortMap": "36","DiskIdxMap": "0000" the resuilt is idem.
  23. Hello. This guide is dedicated to installing DSM 7.0.1 BareMetal. It is a translation from Korean to English using a translator. Please understand if there is a slight misunderstanding. Existing RedPill, which has been released since last year, can generate IMG files directly through the bootloader compilation process only if Linux is available separately. This tinyCore RedPill provides a USB boot image with tinyCore Linux. It's much easier to work without having to install Linux separately. As usual, you can add the desired driver directly from the selection header and build it. Tinycore supports the following platforms (DS918+/DS3615xs/DS3617xs/DS3622xs+/DS1621+/DV3221/DS920+). You can continuously change the bootloader without re-creating the image (model/sn/mac, etc.) Tinycore supports both legacy versions for baremetal and virtual environments. 1. Prepare bootloader IMG file With the Download button in the middle of the GITHUB link below.Download the gz file. In it, 0.4.6 version img.You can unzip the gz file again and use the img file. Installing DSM with find.synology.com On an XPhenology PC, There is a delay of about 1 to 2 minutes for IP allocation, so please wait a little longer. There is nothing more to do on this XPhenology PC once you have checked the Kernel boot message. Now look for XPhenology on another PC at find.synology.com. If found successfully, proceed with the initial installation of DSM or the expected migration DSM installation process.
  24. Anyone tried setting up a vm in VMware workstation? Should that work/ is supported? im trying to setup a dsm 7.0.1 vm, all is good until redpill downloads the PAT file, starts unpacking it. At that point my vim basically stops responding, ping to vm’s iP stops after a minute or so. Perhaps a kernel panic in the background? I have to rest the vm every time. My sataportmap is set to 1, diskidmap set to 00, also tried 0A00, etc… the vm only has two disks. 0:0 is the red pill vmdk. I added second disk at sata 1:0 for data. any idea why it might be freezing? Thanks
  25. @Dvalin21 Either disable the motherboard's internal SATA, or turn it on if you have Hot Plug or Hot Swap options. You can reduce the stress of finding the SataportMap value. (Except Muxed, where M.2 and Sata are shared.) I don't care about HBA and SataPortMap. I deleted the SataportMap and DiskIdxMap items from the user_config.json file or the grub.cfg file.
