Currently using a desktop with Asrock Z78 mb, intel i5-4670, 16gb memory, 3 x sata drives 1 x SDD running Win 7 Pro PLUS HP Gen 8 Microserver with Intel E1265v2, 16gb memory, 4 x 2tb drives running Xpenology, I have bought a SilverStone CS380 V2 Mid Tower case with 5 x 3.5 hot swap sas/sata bays, 3 x 3.5 bays, 2 x 5.25 bays and a Corsair RM850X 850watt power supply. I am looking to try and combine my windows 7 Pro desktop operating system ( maybe upgrade to Windows 11 or Windows server ) stuff on the 3 sata drives and run my xpenology server on the hot swap bays. Should I buy a Ra
  2. My point exactly, technically capable users yes, everyone else no just leave it to the experts, be patient and it will happen.
  3. A very sensible thing to do, I am the same position as you with very limited knowledge of Linux, Proxmox or ESXI. My xpenology server is working fine and that is how I will leave it until the final working version becomes available with easy to follow instructions. It's a shame there are so many impatient Noobie questions keep appearing taking up the time of the hardworking individuals trying to get this working for all of us.
  4. I am currently running an HP Gen8 Microserver 16gb memory and E3-1265L V2 currently running as a baremetal XPenology server with Plex Server as the only app curently installed so is bare metal - ESXi or Proxmox the way I should be looking to go now with the new loader and V7 + versions as I seem to remember someone on here saying Proxmox was the way to go now ?
  5. I dont have a clue about Linux language so will wait patiently until a total novice idiot proof version is released for my HP Micoserver Gen 8 but in the meantime my undying thanks to Thor Group and all the other contributors here for giving up their precious free time to sort this out for the rest of us - Respect to you all.
  6. wouldnt it be good if people/newbies took time to read through the posts, 99% of the time the answer is there.
  7. Exactly what I need and am waiting patiently for and with all due respect for everyone working so hard on this. It will be ready when it's ready.
  8. Respect to everyone giving up their time to work on this
  9. Link Aggregation ( Bonding) works if your LAN is wired through a managed network switch that allows link aggregation of the switch ports your NAS is using, I have mine running through a D-Link DGS-1210 managed switch and it works fine.
  10. Did you not read through this thread ? On Page 1
  11. Isn't the CPU in the HP Gen8 a Haswell which is the wrong Intel processor version for DS918+ in which case will the installation of this not fail ?
  12. - Outcome of the update: SUCCESSFUL - DSM version prior update: DSM 6.2-23739 Update 1 - Loader version and model: JUN'S LOADER v1.03b - DS3617xs - Using custom extra.lzma: NO - Installation type: BAREMETAL - HP MicroServer Gen8 - Additional comments: Updated to DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2 no problem
  13. took the chance, backed up config and all my files and followed the tutorial exactly as written by Polanskiman at https://xpenology.com/forum/topic/7973-tutorial-installmigrate-dsm-52-to-61x-juns-loader/ which went like a dream with no problems on my N54L. Did the updates to 6.1.7 Update 2 with no problems, then uninstalled Plex and reinstalled 64bit version and everything now working okay, all files intact and lost nothing.
  14. From Plex Forums 32bit Plex will no longer upgrade unles you install DSM 6, then uninstall Plex and reinstall the Plex 64 bit version, what a pain https://forums.plex.tv/t/synology-installation-changes-for-plex-media-server/284921
