Hello! I'm using baremetal XPEnology on my HPE microserver Gen8 since... I don't even know, but I made some mistakes with updates on Jun's loader, and now want to try the virtualization way. The plan is to install ESXI 7.0 on a SSD connected to the DVD SATA port (keeping the 4 internal ports for the big datas disks), have 2 disks in RAID 1 (for critical datas) and 2 others disks for non-critical datas, like I did with my baremetal XPEnology. > Is it the right way to think my setup? Would it be more efficient to make a baremetal installtion with my requirements? > How do I manage the RAID: from ESXI, or from DSM? Since I have to create datastores, I imagine I'll have to manage the RAID directly in ESXI (but I don't know how for now 😅) but how would DSM see the RAID? (Maybe adding 2 virtual hard drives on 2 different datastores? Probably a bit silly I guess) Or maybe I don't want DSM to manage the RAID? > May I add disks directly on DSM without registering them to ESXI, to manage the disks like with the baremetal install? (I guess not while DSM can't see directly the hardware, but maybe I missed a point) > And since I made some tests, I have some issues with the ESXI's installation: I installed it on a SSD connected to the DVD SATA port and it boots nicelly. But when I connect a new disk on one of the 4 internal ports, the bios bypass the SSD and ask me for an OS... (even if I try to force to boot on DVD port) Thanks a lot!! I figured out that lot of people installed a RAID card with a less cheaper RAID controller, like the P222 ( with a SAS connector..) to connect the SAS connector from the 4 internal disks? Soooo I'll have to manage the RAID directly from the controller, and it's ok that DSM will not see any RAID? (A ton of question, I know, sorry, I have to start from the very beginning...)

My bad, j'étais en 6.2.1 sur serveur, mais en 6.1 sur les autres ^^ Bon, je n'ai toujours pas trouvé pourquoi mes disque ne passent pas en hibernation... (Même si c'est pas bien !)

Du coup tu as juste mis le fichier extra v0.5 à la racine de la clef puis tu as fait l'upgrade ? j'étais en 6.2.1, j'ai dû faire l'update pour utiliser le backup dans le paquet Drive, du coup j'ai enlevé la clef, remplacé le fichier extra, remis la clef puis redémarré pour faire l'update automatique en 6.2.2. Peut-être que ce n'était pas la méthode ? ^^ Et google me renvoie vers le souci de drivers ^^' Pourquoi pas le top en hibernation ? Parce que là j'ai des disques qui cumulent des dizaines de milliers d'heures de fonctionnement, je ne suis pas sûr que ce soit le mieux pour leur durée de vie, sachant que certains de ces disques ne sont utilisés que pour du backup (donc sollicités assez peu mais régulièrement, et ils peuvent retourner dormir quand on en a fini avec eux ^^)

Hello Zanguigui, du coup tu as juste mis les drivers avec l'extra en v0.5, j'ai fait pareil, mais depuils DSM 6.XX, mes disques ne se mettent plus jamais en hibernation... Niveau conso et usure, c'est pas ouf du coup. Est-ce que tes disques passent en hibernation sur ton serveur ?

Hello nemesis122 ! I thought the 1.03b loader could work only until DSM 6.2-23739. Did you upgrade the DSM automatically? (Plus: do you think the original LAN would work with 6.2.2? What is the reference of the original you bought? ) Thanks !!

@Polanskiman I assume it's stupid to think about moving from DS3615 to DS918 to get the last loader ? (Or have to make a fresh install ;) )

Hello ! I've been running my HP Gen8 with DSM 6.XX and Jun 1.02b for a while now, and internal drives seems to not want to enter on hibernation at all. I set the hibernation to 10 min, and none drive on 6 wants to hibernate I guess it's a lack of drivers since the release of the loader is still in alpha ! Am I the only one with this issue ? Any plan to integrate more drivers in the future (Coucou @Polanskiman ^^) Thanks!

Tiens, question en passant : je tourne sous DSM 6 update 9, et je crois m'être rendu compte que quel que soit le paramètre d'hibernation choisi, le serveur ne met jamais les disques en veille (Et que ces derniers tournent H24 donc...). Mon instal est basée sur un HP Proliant Gen8 G1610T. Est ce qu'il faut réaliser une manip en particulier, charger des drivers, ou je dois me résoudre à voir tourner mes disques non-stop ?

Peut-être commencer par ne pas utiliser le compte admin pour gérer son serveur ? (Une règle de base de sécurité)

Il faut (et je recommande) que les disques soit branchés successivement sur la carte mère en partant du port SATA0. C'est dans le tuto. Si le problème persiste déclarez SataPortMap=. C'est dans le tuto. Essaye aussi Synology Assistant plutot que http://find.synology.com. C'est aussi dans le tuto.

Attention, il semblerait que l'update 9 plante l'install des Xpenology, pas encore testé sur mes installations... Après l'update, il faut rebooter à la main le NAS. Pas très encourageant. Au top le tuto pour l'installation depuis DSM 5.2 ! Testé sur deux hardwares différent, j'ai juste eu quelques soucis sur un Asus EB1033 qui refusait de booter en ne déclarant qu'un seul disque SATA, n'ayant pas de specs de la carte mère j'ai fini par forcer l'installation... Et tout fonctionne, merci et bravo ! Tant que j'y pense, le wifi embarqué sur la carte mère, impossible que ca fonctionne n'est-ce pas ? Je viens également de faire la maj en update 6 avec succès

Hi all I'm using my Syno since a while, but with the need of more power, I installed Xpenology recently on a pre-build server (I can detail all specs of the server if needed) using XPEnoboot DS3615xs5.2-5644.4 and DSM_5.2-5644 (Not the update 2, I have to learn how to do this) How could I know if the hardware is correctly installed ? Like know if all cores are in use for example, and if some drivers are missing ? It's just a raw installation and don't know if something is missing for now (But the server is doing well ) Thanks for your advices !
