TBK Posted May 4, 2016 Share #7 Posted May 4, 2016 Ehh that is all good but where is the src for DSM 6??
abced Posted May 4, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 4, 2016 Ehh that is all good but where is the src for DSM 6?? Source is not released. They make a bootloader that is able to run DSM as it is.
brantje Posted May 4, 2016 Share #9 Posted May 4, 2016 Ehh that is all good but where is the src for DSM 6?? Afaik .pat files are just zipped / gzipped files. Which contain the real os. Xpenology is just somekind of 'emulator' of the Synology bios. Posted via Xpenology.us
TBK Posted May 4, 2016 Share #10 Posted May 4, 2016 The src I am talking about is the Synology modified linux kernel without it the tool chain is pretty much useless.
M230 Posted May 4, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted May 4, 2016 I'd imagine the source will follow shortly after... Not sure how much the devs can do with just the tool chains
tahitibub Posted May 4, 2016 Share #12 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) So, we just have to wait ... I hope the developers will include the fix of the BIOS RESET issue in the next XPEnoboot. Regards Edited May 6, 2016 by Guest
luke Posted May 5, 2016 Share #13 Posted May 5, 2016 Anyone know if there will be a 32bit option?
Dfds Posted May 5, 2016 Share #14 Posted May 5, 2016 Anyone know if there will be a 32bit option? Unlikely, Synology have gone fully 64bit now.
TBK Posted May 6, 2016 Share #15 Posted May 6, 2016 Anyone know if there will be a 32bit option? Do you mean the ability to execute 32 bit binaries on x64 or a x86 variant of the bootloader?
brantje Posted May 6, 2016 Share #16 Posted May 6, 2016 I think x86 bootloader, but that is not possible since Synology went full 64bit. Posted via Xpenology.us
AllGamer Posted May 6, 2016 Share #17 Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) Anyone know if there will be a 32bit option? There is an old version of DSM 4.something that was still 32bit (x86) use google search this forum for 32bit DSM but be warned that version had a lot less hardware support than 5.x, since back then most of the DEVs working on it were still testing around. as far as I know 32bit XPEnology is no longer developed by our enthusiast behind this excellent project. they all focused on 64bit 5.x and hopefully 6.0 --- Update --- There still a x86 5.0 version here, but is only for 2 drives. http://xpenology.pety.me/ v5.0.2.4 x86: NanoBoot-x86-5.0.2.4-fat.img <--- you need this v5.0-4493 x86: DSM_DS214play_4493.pat <--- the .pat file you can download directly from Synology servers. latest version is actually DSM_DS214play_4528.pat and 2 more updates 4622 and 4627 Edited May 6, 2016 by Guest
TBK Posted May 6, 2016 Share #18 Posted May 6, 2016 I think x86 bootloader, but that is not possible since Synology went full 64bit. Posted via Xpenology.us It is possible with the DSM 6 tool chain released for Evansport - https://sourceforge.net/projects/dsgpl/ ... nsport%29/
luke Posted May 7, 2016 Share #19 Posted May 7, 2016 Anyone know if there will be a 32bit option? Do you mean the ability to execute 32 bit binaries on x64 or a x86 variant of the bootloader? Thanks all for the replies. I want to run it on a machine with no X64 capability. So I guess x86 bootloader. I guess ti wont be coming in 32 bit judging by the comments. brantje Posted May 7, 2016 Share #21 Posted May 7, 2016 DSM 4.3 is X86, but that is a huge step back. Posted via Xpenology.us
quicknick Posted May 13, 2016 Share #22 Posted May 13, 2016 I have kernel source for 7274 which is from beta running kernel 3.10.77 same as DSM 6.0 current release. Anyone want it? Developers?
brantje Posted May 13, 2016 Share #23 Posted May 13, 2016 How did you obtain the source? Posted via Xpenology.us
quicknick Posted May 13, 2016 Share #24 Posted May 13, 2016 I happened to get lucky during the beta of 6.0 and caught it up on sourceforge before they remove it. It is legit and legal to use.
brantje Posted May 13, 2016 Share #25 Posted May 13, 2016 But, that are the kernel sources for the beta, so not sure if they can use it for the stable one. Besides, they have to release the kernel sources anyway. Posted via Xpenology.us
