    DSM 6.1.x Loader

    Re-format them all first.
  3. https://forums.verizon.com/t5/Fios-Inte ... d-p/803509 This is all you need to do. With no-ip you will have access to nas from internet Thanks, that's what I did try before but had no luck. I set 192.168.1.xxx tcp any -> "the port number" udp any -> "the port number" with 192.168.1.xxx is my Nas IP address. The problem is I really don't know what is "the port number" here to enter in the port field to see my XPEno from internet. I tried port "9" and somebody told me to try port "22" but got no luck either. We here encourage people to use DDNS instead of QuickConnect. That's fine and great, but in fact, there is no instruction in the forum to guide people how use it properly. I'm using 30-days trial of No-ip and plan to buy a 12-months plan. But I may change my mind unless I find out the way to setup port forwarding correctly.
  4. Your router wont let you to open port 80/443? I'm using Verizon FIOS-G1100 and need a port forwarding rule to forward port 22 to my XPEno Nas but I couldn't. BTW, I'm using No-IP.
  5. My router that's provided by my internet provider doesn't let me to open ports to use DDNS. I had to buy an old Synology Nas and used its SN/ MAC to access QuickConnect. That's fair enough, right?
  6. Another vote for Realtek RTL8111GR nic driver especially for new DSM6.0.2 loader. Thanks.
  7. That's why I've been holding all updates on my Nas as well as new builds and wait until the new loader with tool comes out. Thanks for your hard working, quicknick. Pls test carefully but hope we can see it (new loader) soon.
  8. Found nowhere. Where did you buy it?

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

What you're saying is my thought. I successfully built a new DSM 6.0.2 Nas and planed to move my data to this one. Unfortunately some of my drives down yesterday for unknown reason that made my volume degraded/ crashed. Lucky enough I didn't move my data yet. Although a reboot could fix the issue, but it's definitely unsafe for my valuable data at all. It scares me a lot. If I have to choose between DSM 6.0 and the data, I'll pick my valuable data and stay back at DSM 5.2 for sure. For me, it's no rush and (like you) I can wait for a few more months.

Just set it 5 sec for the first time, and when you're done installation, set it back 1. Easy job, right?
  11. You need a compatible network switch. I am using TP-Link TL-SG2216 and you can see how I did it at http://jarvis.pimpmyrig.com/how-to-enab ... 16-switch/ If using IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic Link Aggregation or Balance XOR you are right, you need a compatible switch. I use a Cisco 200-08 However if are you using Adaptive Load Balancing or Active/Standy then a standard routeur will be enough. Obviously in this scenario there is no speed aggregation but as the options suggests either a load balancing aggregation or a basic active/standby aggregation. Thank you, guys for the replies. I'm using Netgear Prosafe 24G L2 GSM7224 V2H1 Managed Switch, is that ok to bond? Can't wait to grab it.
  12. Anybody used this board and bond those two nic cards Intel and Atheros on DSM 6.0? Wish they're both Intel Nics. On the fence to pull the trigger. Thanks.
  13. Thanks for your reply. 1. Cloud sync: I have no idea what it is. Never heard it before. Can you shed more light on it? 2. Shared folders sync: In fact, I like this way, but unfortunately, I only want to copy about 2/3 data, not all of it. Therefore I cannot use "sync" all. 3. On new nas mount shared folders: I tried this way, but after unmount shared folders from old nas, there was nothing on my new nas. I don't know why. It took me hours to copy files from the mount share folders. Please help. Thanks.
  14. Just built successfully a new DSM 6.0 Nas with btrfs volume. Now it's time to upgrade the other old XPEno Nas that's sitting on DSM 5.2. Was told to backup all data on the old one before upgrading. Therefore, I plan to move (copy) all data (about 10TB) from the old DSM 5.2 to the new one (DSM 6.0). Unfortunately, the copy speed is so...o...o... sl...o...o...w.... (under 35GB/s) through a Windows PC. I actually used a Win PC and mapped those two NASes as E: drive and F: drive then copied data between E and F drives. If I directly copy files/folders from the local drive (D:) to each Nas or vice versa, the speed is always above 100MB/s. All has gigabit network ports thru a gigabit switch as well. Can you guys have any better way to copy files/folders between 2 NASes at a higher speed? Much appreciate your inputs.
  15. With SHR, you're fine, but once you already built RAID10, not so sure if it let you expand (add more HDDs). Correct me if I'm wrong. Even you can add more HDDs, in this case 2x8TB, you will lose 4TB (2TB/each).
  16. I have a flashcross of my Dell perc H310 to LSI9211-8i it mode with firmware 20. Everything looks fine with S.M.A.R.T.
  17. 2TB working well and stable, yes sir. And because xpenology couldn't control HDDs, those drives had no spin down. After a year 24/7, 3 of 6 my HDDs dead. So, I only go back to VM when and only when VW workstation or whatever virtual machines can let me see S.M.A.R.T.
  18. I have VMWARE WORKSTAION but never tried >2TB. Besides, never seen SMART info. for my HDDs either. Do you see S.M.A.R.T? How?

Good catch, but most people they're lazy to read f**** manual. Can you check manual and help people who currently get stuck on HP n54l with 6HDDS? My final setting is 242. "sataportmap=242" is ok with n54l with 6 disks? Oh... no. Eduardo asked me my setting because he has the same my mobo Asrock QC5000-itx. For those who have HP n54l, you guys should check with manual or HP website, take a picture of all onboard sata ports (or whatever) to see (or guess) how many controllers it has. Then test with hard drives that have SNs written down. That's your job, men. I don't have it.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Hey guys, For those who are asking about the setting for "SataPortMap=" I many times have asked about how to set the value for SataPortMap, but I received no responses and I understand it's hard to tell. After a couple days with several experiments, here is the experience I want to share. I built my new DSM 6.0 Nas on the mobo Asrock QC5000-itx that has 4 onboard sata ports. I also attached anothe Syba sata card that has 4 ports. So, totally I will have 8 sata ports to have 8 HDDs connected. And as a normal thinking, I would set SataPortMap=44, right? Wrong! My first experience is before you ask please watch, watch, and watch. When I check 4 sata ports on the mobo, I found it says SATA3_A0, SATA3_A1, SATA3_1, and SATA3_A2 see the picture (instead of SATA1, 2, 3, and 4 as usual) that drew my attention with a question why? Searched around I quickly found out 2 ports are controlled by AMD onboard chipset and the other two are controlled by ASMedia ASM1061. The next experience is but which chipset controls SATA3_A0, SATA3_A1, and which one controls SATA3_1, and SATA3_A2 I had no idea either. And therefore what would I set for SataPortMap? SataPortMap=224, SataPortMap=242, or SataPortMap=422? To save your time, please write down the serial number of each your HDDs with located port number. First, let's set SataPortMap=224, of course log on bios and make sure it recognizes all your HDDs there. Then once log on DSM, check S.M.A.R.T for serial numbers to find out which HDDs are seen together with port numbers. Trust me, now you understand your system and can set value for the grub parameter SataPortMap= correctly. Good luck.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Sorry, but did you use the loader image of Jun v.1 at page 1 or Arcao v.2? Thanks.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Hi Arcao or somebody. I used the latest img of Arcao on page 80 for AMD system. When I changed VID & PID, I found out the grub file doesn't have "SataPortMap=x". Is that OK if we ignore it? I don't want to mess up my drives' orders in the Nas. Thanks.
  24. I have some questions. 1. I have a Xpeno Nas DSM 5.2 currently running on bare metal AMD PC. Can I migrate to DSM 6.0? 2. I saw your instruction how to setup SataPortMap. It's useful. I'm however just confused how we call which one is controller 1, 2, 3, blah..blah... let say I have a mobo that has 3 sata ports. I attached 2 more sata cards that has 2 ports and the other 4 ports to build my 9 HDDs nas. So, in this case, which one should I setup for SataPortMap? It should be SataPortMap=234, SataPortMap=243, SataPortMap=324, SataPortMap=342, SataPortMap=432, or SataPortMap=423? An extra question. What if I set it wrong? 3. What's wrong if I use Windows Notepad instead of Notepad++ to edit grub.cfg? 4. Because the value "console=ttyS0,115200n8" is unique, people don't have to change console=uart,io,0x3f8,115200n8 to console=ttyS0,115200n8 if you originally changed and posted? Finally, thank you very much for the tutorial. It helps me as a newbie a lot.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

Please help with Power button. Dear @Arcao I extracted your tar file to 4 separate folders, but I don't think I can copy them to the root because the root also has the same folder names. So how? I really don't want to rescue my Nas once again... Thanks.
