  1. Hey guys, I'm moving my machine to some better hardware: i5-6400T H110I PRO AC Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 Now for networking I want to go 10GBe SFP+ I am looking at: 2X - Mellanox ConnectX-2 https://www.ebay.com/itm/391459428428 1X - Cisco Genuine SFP-H10GB-CU3M SFP+ https://www.ebay.com/itm/201986388845 ^^^ will these work out of the box with 6.1 DS3615xs version? Thanks!
  2. I'm using Static Link aggregation. I have 4 Drives rated above 113MB/s - at Avg. Sequential Write Speed 148MB/s I'm running on Asrock J3455 (http://asrock.com/mb/Intel/J3455-ITX/) - it should be able to do this. But so far I'm unable to reproduce it. There is a lack of articles on this topic on how to make these 4 port cards work and their full setups. Have you done anything like this? EDIT: I believe SMB Multichannel should be working here, but I havent found a guide on this.
  3. did you guys have any success running quad port at 4GB speed? I have a WIN10 machine with intel® pro/1000 pt quad port and IOCrest SI-PEX24042 4 Port Gigabit Ethernet in NAS. I still cant get running above 113mb. Any ideas what to do?
  4. get yourself a nice UPS, these days a low end one doesnt cost much more than $100-150 And yeah parity check slows everything down.
  5. I found 3455 board on Newegg. It took a while to get it, but I think these days it should be easy to get one. Remember to buy the NON B version. It only has 2 SATA ports. https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157727&cm_re=j3455-_-13-157-727-_-Product ^^ I got this one. The prices went up by $25 btw. So look out maybe there are other boards you can buy. I have my eye on(maybe next year): https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182973
  6. when SSHing into the machine you can see all 4 cores working. I think I posted a screenshot somewhere. The problem is that it's running at base speed (1.5-1.6mhz). Some people say you can lock it in at 2.4mhz, but for me it's not an issue.
  7. This project has not worked out so far. I wanted to connect 4 ports WIN10 to 4 ports on NAS using NIC teaming. Mircosoft has disabled NIC teaming in latest builds and only allows it on Server builds. Very dissapointed. Cannot reach more than 113mbit/s.
  8. I'll be testing the speeds only in the end of August unfortunately, the 4 NIC Intel card for my desktop is coming from China But the card is working and I can set each of the links to specific Docker apps I setup. Also I need to play around with my new switch TL-SG1024DE that can do link aggregation. Why have 4 NICS? Because I have a desktop that I would like to back up - and backing up 3TB of data (half of which is SSD drives) could take a while. I'd like to speed up that process. PS: 1 HDD saturates 1 LAN port easily - transfer speeds on current HDDs(even platter ones) are 150-200mb / second
  9. Just tried it out the SYBA 4 port PCI-E 1X is working! swwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
  10. I have J3455 with PCI-E 1X port, which NIC do you guys suggest buying for it? I dont want to mess with drivers too much. I see only 1 port versions from Intel for 1X PCI-E: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106036&cm_re=Intel_network_adapter_PCI-Express_1-_-33-106-036-_-Product but 1 port is not enough. Saw this but dont know if it's supported: https://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-PEX24009-Gigabit-Network-Black/dp/B01HH6WETO Looks like it's based on Realtek drivers. Anybody try to install Syba NICs? Thanks!
  11. yeah i just got bricked when i updated to 6.1.1 Gonna try fresh install tomorrow.
  12. it really depends on your needs. I'm running: TV-IP862IC WVC210 Both of these are running smooth. Web cameras are still super expensive unless you want just basic functionality. I researched it for weeks and TP-Link one was my choice for under $200. The only crappy part about it is that it has shitty movement - if you click to move it it will swing instead of making a small movement. Otherwise it works fine. WVC210 is just wayy too old, but thats what I had available for $0. I dont know about Chinese cameras - they are too sketchy for me personally. There are tons under 100$, but I dont believe any of them are officially supported by Synology. Anything official(dlink and co) under $100 is too basic and definitely has a lot of drawbacks.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

I get the same message. I'll try the grub.cfg setting tonight.

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

i got the 6.1 installed, but having issues with VPN connection dropping...also on each load it says that one of the drives has a bad connection.
  15. works on j3455 Asrock, but having issues with VPN connection disconnecting...it sends, but doesnt receive - same happened after Update 9 for 6.0 Any ideas?
  16. installed on J3455...having issues with VPN connection disconnecting. it sends but doesnt receive anything...and then disconnects. Any ideas?

    DSM 6.1.x Loader

J3455 works well...no problems. If you buy it, UPDATE BIOS right away. 1.2 version is stable. 1.0 was s*** and wasnt working at all.
  18. I looked at the speed and yes it's locked in at 1500mhz, but all of the CPU's are being used at the same time. When transcoding 720p all 4 cores were at 30-45%.
  19. From what I understand Q1900 has been worked on the forum for a while so you might get more support out of it. Honestly I dont know - depends on your needs. J3455 works good for what I'm using it for - plex, BT, small back-ups. CPU rarely goes up to 90%, I just got 8GB 1600mhz ram for it too so its smooooooth as butter. My plans to play around with Asterisk. About the speed, I need to ssh into machine and see CPU stats. I'll let you know whats up.
  20. Howdy guys, What RAID controllers are supported currently? Are there any examples of you guys using RAID cards successfully? Any issues? I'm thinking of buying: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.a ... 6816124064 or https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.a ... 6816124073 My board only has a 1X PCI-E.
  21. I've the Q1900DC-ITX ... just curious whether the J3455 has a reasonable or negligible benefit over the J1900. hmmm...looking at Intel page, I would say negligible. I wouldnt upgrade from J1900 I just got one for myself because my 212j was so slow on 6.0 that i dont even turn it on. It takes at least 10 minutes to start it. CPU one CPU runs at 1.5 and another at 2.0 RAM and Video The only difference I see is in RAM and Video Card (from what I understand video card is not used in transcoding...i'm not sure). You can install 1866mhz ram that can help with speed. SATA2 Ports Also Q1900DC-ITX has 2xSATA3 and 2xSATA2 ports where J3455 has 4xSATA3 ports. I dont think you will saturate those SATA2 speeds, but who knows if you want to add SSD drives, that could be an issue. Asrock J4205 i dont think i would go for J4205. Its much more expensive and the only difference is baseclock and a little bit better video card.
  22. could you make a test with vmware esxi on this board? I will need to install it on my other hard drive. I'll update you when I try it out. Right now I'm running without any problems on baremetal. I did not test all areas of the OS. Right out of the box the motherboard is buggy and you need to upgrade to the latest bios (1.20 at the moment). I'm running: old 1tb drive Crucial 2x2 GB of RAM 1333Mhz I tried Ubuntu 14.4 usb stick and it would start loading but would get stuck. I didnt want to mess with it much. As far as performance - I have tried transcoding 1080p and it runs at 30-40% load. Offline transcoding was taking up about 75-85% of cpu. You might get better results if you use 1866mhz RAM It runs very cool to touch. I dont notice any heat coming from heatsink. The heat meter in the GUI - I dont believe it works as it's stuck at 40 degrees. Hard drive heat meter works. Fan control is only on "Cool". There are no other options. I'll try changing my fan to CPU fan to see if there is a difference.
  23. Just got a ASRock J3455-ITX from Newegg for 129: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.a ... -_-text-_- I'll update you guys on the build and how it's working.
