dml33 Posted December 23, 2015 Share #727 Posted December 23, 2015 Hi. I am trying to install XPEnology on a N3150-ITX, but I cannot make it even boot. It gets stuck in "Loading zImage OK". From http://download.xpenology.fr I have tried: XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.1-5055.1.imgXPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.2-5565.2.imgXPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.2-5592.2.img From http://xpenology.pety.me/ I tried an old NanoBoot. It also loads the zImage and gets stuck at "ready". It does not boot either. NanoBoot-5.0.4.1-fat.img FreeNAS 9.3.1. boots correctly (with xhci_load flag enabled). I also tested successfully the RAM memory with MemTest86. All images boot correctly in VirtualBox. In the General Discussion section, somebody said that there could a problem with some missing drivers. Please, tell me how to proceed to give you as many details/data as possible to make it work. Thank you in advance.

dml33 Posted December 23, 2015 Share #729 Posted December 23, 2015 Did you try on USB2 ports instead of USB3 ? Try to boot in debug mode and/or remove loglevel=0 from boot command line (in syslinux.cfg or grub console) in order to show more informations. Hi. Thanks for the reply. I tried with a USB 2.0 pendrive in both USB2 and USB3 ports, but it did not boot from any. I have also tried NanoBoot-5.0.3.1-fat.img If I select debug mode, after the dots and the "ready", "early console in setup code" appears, and it hangs there. Firstly, I thought it could be VGA related, so I used vga=ask instead of vga=0x305, but nothing happens. It hangs anyway, even without the prompt which let you list and choose the desired vga mode. (I saw what should appear with the vga=ask by booting it in VirtualBox. There, it works perfectly). I tried "ubuntu-15.10-desktop-amd64.iso". It boots in UEFI mode perfectly and works correctly. If you want, I can post a dmesg. What else do you want me to try? Thanks.
dml33 Posted December 23, 2015 Share #730 Posted December 23, 2015 Also, I have just tried the new XPEnoboot_DS3615xs_5.2-5644.4.img and it hangs too. If I add debug mode, it appears: Loading /zImage... ok early console in setup code And it hangs.

Trantor Posted December 28, 2015 Author Share #732 Posted December 28, 2015 USB 3.0 ports with ASMedia ASM1074 hub not working properly. It freezing the whole system.http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp ... inux-error In this forum the guy wrote that he have issues with Ubuntu 15.10 Server x64 and dml33 haven't. I tried "ubuntu-15.10-desktop-amd64.iso". It boots in UEFI mode perfectly and works correctly. If you want, I can post a dmesg. The current solution for my problem is to compile an current kernel without UAS support. (Older ASMedia Chips get detected by the kernel driver and uas is disabled automatically). Resulting in massive performance loss.
dml33 Posted December 28, 2015 Share #733 Posted December 28, 2015 Hi. I finally made it work by connecting it DVI-DVI to a different monitor. What resolution uses Xpenoboot? Just after decompressing the zImage and booting up, when Xpenoboot label is displayed and everything is detected. There must be a handshake problem regarding the resolution/video driver when I was connecting it to a 720p TV HDMI-HDMI or HMDI-DVI to a LG 19'' Wide-screen 1440x900. It hung all the time. Anyway, it would be nice if Xpenoboot could boot anyway so, in case of a problem in that phase, could use a VESA safe resolution or the exception could managed somehow so the booting process continued. Ah, I used a USB 2.0 pendrive and it worked flawlessly in all USB3 and USB2 ports. Regards.

I would hate to cash out for a good wifi dongle when my mobo already has one built in wifi card. If there is anything I could to do to help speed up the process, please let me know. sfu420 Posted January 17, 2016 Share #742 Posted January 17, 2016 Hi, I have two requests for you. The first one: Please add NVMe driver to the kernel. I bought a Samsung 950 NVMe M.2 SSD and I want to use it as SSD Cache in my server. As I know, Linux kernel supported NVMe drives since v3.1 And the second one: Could you please set mpt3sas.ko modul as default loaded modul? And please update it to the latest version v11 (if is it not so, unfortunately there is no "modinfo" command in BusyBox) I had already 2 times after reboot, that DSM see only 2 drives of 3. In this case I need to reboot, and after that it's OK. It can be, that insmod mpt3sas.ko working not properly or the driver version is older and not compatible with my firmware. I'm using the latest firmware v10 on my LSI 9300-8i card. In this zip can be found the latest driver source: http://docs.avagotech.com/docs/Linux-Driver-RHEL5-6_SLES10-11_P10.zip Thanks a lot! Yes, I run a script to insmod drivers and get some other conditions from some years ago. Before Xpenology included drivers I had to compile them every time kernel was changed. Now, I don't waste time thanks to you... wfeith Posted January 19, 2016 Share #744 Posted January 19, 2016 Trantor, I think the driver for Synology E10G15-F1 10G are missing the the current DS3615xs5.2-5644.4 release, which they the drivers as the card is working well DS3615xs 5.1-5055.1 and are still mentioned here http://xpenology.me/compatible/. I think the Synology NIC is a second source of this one: http://www.tehutinetworks.net/?t=LV&L1=3&L2=0&L3=0&L7=5 and it's drivers are part of the LINUX kernel, which I confirmed with installing Debian 8. I'm interested in too!! Actually, the drivers ARE present and loaded at boot. In fact you can find your drives in /dev/vd(x) but the dsm won't recognize them. By the way, thanks to XPenology Team for the awesome job they do!
