Have you attempted to convert it on the ESXi machine via the SSH shell with the following, vmkfstools -i arpl-dyn.vmdk MyNewNAS-TCRP.vmdk Or just use the flat files, both are needed, arpl.vmdk and arpl-flat.vmdk. Espada Posted February 1, 2023 Share #56 Posted February 1, 2023 The problem is described in this article. https://williamlam.com/2022/12/heads-up-esxi-8-0-host-client-unable-to-attach-existing-virtual-disk-to-vm.html This issue also affects ESXi 7.0 Update 3i and potentially other newer releases. rjfmn Posted February 10, 2023 Share #57 Posted February 10, 2023 I’m trying to set up a VM from scratch and have followed these steps as closely as I can…but whatever I try I can not seem to get the bootloader to update to include the two RedPill options. I update, serialgen, satamap, build, backup, etc, and all I ever get is TinyCore in the GRUB menu. Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen? tigs Posted February 19, 2023 Share #58 Posted February 19, 2023 Setting a VM DVA3221 is fairly easy. However, I have been unable to access the device from Windows 10 explorer/network. It always tells the username and/or password are incorrect. Does anyone else have this issue?

dj_nsk Posted March 26, 2023 Share #62 Posted March 26, 2023 Since I did not find any recommendations for installing VMware Tools (Open VMTools) here, I will add: download the desired version from here: https://github.com/AuxXxilium/synology-dsm-open-vm-tools install the package manually, do not run "After installation, perform code Repair Using SSH connection sudo sed -i 's/package/root/g' /var/packages/open-vm-tools-12/conf/privilege" start the package
Erik Finskas Posted April 14, 2023 Share #63 Posted April 14, 2023 Hi all, thanks for an excellent tutorial! I am having a strange issue though which I can't get past. For some reason my ESXi 7 does not like the TCRP vmdk file, and the new disk won't be imported to the system. Here's a screenshot of the VM edit view, for some reason all the fields of the new disk are blank, and it's size is not recognized correctly either. https://pasteboard.co/M60wEN0EDhk9.png All file sizes are correct though. The space in the file naming seem not to make any difference. Tried with and without. idyllik Posted April 15, 2023 Share #65 Posted April 15, 2023 anyone else having trouble running two instances at once on esxi 8? running esxi 8 with truenas core, debian, and two instances of tcrp dva1622 only seem to be able to run one instance at a time, the second instance to start up will not receive a network connection i've tried setting up both from scratch and as well as exporting one and importing it back with a new name with no chance in behaviour

Perhaps both DSMs have the same SN/MAC? I have been running 4-5 virtual DSMs at the same time without any problems
idyllik Posted April 15, 2023 Share #67 Posted April 15, 2023 (edited) yeah there's got to be something to it, i just can't figure out what i'm missing both have different mac addresses, the user_config reflects the individual mac addresses properly will need to plug this to an actual ethernet port to troubleshoot this properly, currently plugged into an apple airport express to get a network connection wirelessly as the bench i'm testing on doesn't have a port in close proximity edit; nevermind all is well, had them both powered up and reboot the airport express and both are up and running now Edited April 15, 2023 by idyllik
idyllik Posted April 15, 2023 Share #68 Posted April 15, 2023 just an update on this, appears to be a bug specific to my system with esxi 8 any vm's active after the 3rd won't get network connectivity vm1. truenas core - network ok vm2. debian w/portainer running vdsm - network ok vm3. dva1622 - network ok vm4. dva1622 - no network connectivity confirmed by staggering the vm's startup, first the two tcrp's, then truenas, then debian first 3 will have connectivity and the debian vm won't have any even after setting a static ip

Still, you need to look at the ESXi settings. Try SSH and enter command: esxcli network vswitch standard list You should see something like this: vSwitch0 Name: vSwitch0 Class: cswitch Num Ports: 2280 Used Ports: 6 Configured Ports: 128 MTU: 1500 CDP Status: listen Beacon Enabled: false Beacon Interval: 1 Beacon Threshold: 3 Beacon Required By: Uplinks: vmnic0 Portgroups: VM Network, Management Network Pay attention to the number of ports. Check this: [UPD:] perhaps it would be better to ask questions on specialized esxi forums, not TCRP Edited April 17, 2023 by dj_nsk
idyllik Posted April 18, 2023 Share #73 Posted April 18, 2023 (edited) ^yeah i thought it may have been a tcrp thing, guess not isolated to esxi at the moment, regardless of nic used(either onboard i219-v or usb3) or cpu (tested 9950hk and 7500t) will have to try an older build and see if things improve good news is whenever i had dva1622 working i was able to passthrough the igpu to use the dva features(though very limited with only 2 dva tasks or one facial recognition task), now to find a cheap gtx1650 to passthrough to the dva3221 😉 thanks a bunch for the help guys Edited April 18, 2023 by idyllik
waazdakka Posted May 31, 2023 Share #74 Posted May 31, 2023 Hello! Sorry by advance for the noob question but... I'm looking for a step-by-step upgrade guide to upgrade my DSM (I'm on DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 1, and I guess 7.2 is now supported by TCRP?) but I can't find how to upgrade it without crashing my server and start again ^^' I really need to test this on a preprod server, I know... Could you point me to the right direction? 😅😅😅 Thaaaanks!
Espada Posted June 2, 2023 Share #75 Posted June 2, 2023 1. Update the bootloader to the minimum version of ARC Loader 23.5.53 or newer 2. Configure bootloader with DSM 7.2 3. Download DSM and go through the migration process with all data saved Detailed article https://bafista.ru/kak-obnovit-xpenology-s-dsm-7-1-do-7-2/ I did update with arpl-i18n 23.6.0 bootloader https://github.com/wjz304/arpl-i18n
