I really need to keep drivers from XPEnoboot5.2... its not that simple, 5.2 used its own compiled kernel, with 6.0 we use synology's original kernel with all its messy mod's and one sided changes, if they change something in the kernel they dont core if other things break as long as the hardware they use in there own units works and beside the kernel changes there are also external drivers they use (and mod) and dont offer source code especially when using a older kernel source (or even original from kernel.org) to compile drivers there is always a risk of things not working properly we hat to use 6.x beta source as base for a long time for drivers and with every update synology made the gap between source used for additional drivers and the source used (by synology) for the kernel grew and if that sap is 1-2 years there might be "some" differences in general using dsm in a way where raid controllers are involved is not the way its meant to be used as its build all around software mdadm raid with single disks and using raid0 disks as single drives in dsm will result in disks without smart info, no serial number (no way of telling what IRL disk broke from the dsm gui) and will kill a lot of the easy/safe to use features dsm is meant to deliver like it is with making usb drives part of dsm's raid sets, one can tweak it like that but its a terrible idea to do so also as further you stray away from its original config you will have much more trouble when updating in your situation its way better to get around it with other ways like hypervisor (that one will handle hardware raid management and use its software to monitor the disks and even message you in case of problems properly) or using a controller that is better suited for the task of natively running in dsm on a bare metal system (like the lsi sas in 3615/3617/3622 where the driver is native part of dsm) PS: you can debug the whole hpsa thing if you want and fix it, i would add you patches to the kernel source and make new drivers but the amount of time needed for that would be way to big on your side and might be better invested in using these skills to backport intel igc driver (2.5G nic) or backport recent i915 driver to have intel qsv support for newer cpu's (a older lsi sas is less then 100 bugs and using proxmox costs nothing - compared to 20+ work hours for fixing hpsa drivers for dsm)

xenpology Posted April 30, 2023 Share #913 Posted April 30, 2023 @IG-88 I am on DSM 7.1.1. I got the Club 3D 2.5GB Adapter plugged in a USB3 Port at my Nas Xpenology 920+ but the CPU is a XEON 1225 V3 I could only install the gemini lake r8152-geminilake-2.15.0-3.spk so far cuz other packages arent supported - DSM is complaining. Is there any chance to make it work or do i have to switch to a xpenology version that recognize my Xeon CPU?
IG-88 Posted May 1, 2023 Author Share #914 Posted May 1, 2023 17 hours ago, xenpology said: Xpenology 920+ but the CPU is a XEON 1225 V3 off topic here as this thread is about dsm 6.2.2 but dsm 7.1.1 still has the same i915 driver as in 6.2.3 the driver should detect older gpu's as well, only newer gpu's are a problem this CPU has "Intel HD P4600" and thats gpu gen 7.5 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Graphics_Technology so its capability's are limited and there is no guarantee that it will work video station of the face recognition in photos if there are devices in /dev/dri then the driver is working, your main problem will be is it working with the part of dsm you want to use, as synology did not intent or test if older gpu's will work what a 7th gen gpu can do can be seen here (compared with newer gpu's) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video#Hardware_decoding_and_encoding no HEVC/h.265 for sure
Orphée Posted May 1, 2023 Share #915 Posted May 1, 2023 FYI, with DS3622xs+, i915 driver is not needed at all for face recognition in Synology Photos. So depending on user needs, using a loader like DS3622xs+ would be easier if not planned to do HW transcoding for video.
xenpology Posted May 1, 2023 Share #916 Posted May 1, 2023 @IG-88 Thanks, sry for the off topic. Didnt see. I dont mind about HW Transcoding, just wanna run the 2.5Gbit Adapter. Need to figure out how. The installed gemini lake driver doesnt give me a third entry under network attachments for the dongle so far. Before on a org. Synology it was working flawless. Davide03gm Posted January 8 Share #918 Posted January 8 (edited) Hi, I would like to solve my problem. I have an HPE microserver Gen8: Intel Xeon E3-1220Lv2 CPU RAM 16 GB 4x HDD and 1x SSD disks (RAID controller disabled) 2x integrated 1 gigabit/s ports I use arpl for boot DSM I would like to add an HP NC523 SFP NIC to my configuration, Synology does not detect the card but the HPE server detect it as a QLogic 82XX NIC and activates the SFP ports Is it a problem of missing the right driver in the loader configuration or something similar? thanks for help Edited January 8 by Davide03gm
IG-88 Posted January 11 Author Share #919 Posted January 11 HEP Spec lists it as "QLogic cLOM8214" https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/c04111574.pdf?jumpid=in_lit-psnow-getpdf the driver would be "qlcnic.ko" and that driver was part of the 3615/17 extra package pci vendor and device id in the driver are 1077:8430 1077:8030 1077:8020 check if the pci id's match, check log dmesg about "qlogic" or "qlcnic" that driver was also part of jun's original extra.lzma so most likely its not about the driver being present afair 6.2 update support ended 6/2023 so you might be better off trying out a newer loader and dsm 7.x

YES you are right i did not read careful enough but the driver required is correct and arpl seems to to have that one, as arpl is unmaintained atm i'd suggest using ARC loader https://github.com/AuxXxilium/arc that one comes with a wider selection of drivers and to be sure i just checked for that driver and it is present there, so it should work with this loader

and-vasilets Posted April 14 Share #924 Posted April 14 Здравствуйте!
