About Me

  1. I have succesfully installed the system with 1CPU (2Cores) and 1GB RAM on ESXi 5.1.0 (1117900). The server has the following hardware. Supermicro X8SIL-F 16GB ECC RAM 2x Western Digital RED 3TB 1x Samsung HD204UI 2TB ESXi running from USB-Stick 8GB APC UPS CS-350 connected to DSM Volume1 configured as RAID5 with 745GB on each HDD. Volume2 configured as RAID1 with 2TB on WD REDs. The system runs now for about two weeks without any problems, but i'm actually on testing some packages like mediacenter. In the next time i want to test iscsi access from am windows8-vm. And i would like to say 'thanks' to the developer and hope for an update to the latest version:-)
  2. Thanks for the reply. I'm in the process of building another whitebox and was going to test this out. *My Whitebox Specs* *Supermicro X9SRE-3F *Intel Xeon E5-2430L *64GB Kingston ECC RAM *4x 300GB WD Velociraptor for Datastores *M1015 that I was going to IT Mode *NORCO SS-500 5-Bay Hot Swap *5x WD 2tb RED Harddrive I really wanted to use the M1015 for the SATA 3 port and that's why I was asking about the RAID card.
  3. Odd issue here. 2 Boxes, Supermicro Superserver Xeon E3-1230V2 32GB ECC Ram, shows 32GB in DSM 4.2, same USB stick/install and drives moved to a AMD Asus M5A97 (970 Chipset) with 8GB ECC Ram shows as 4GB in 4.2?
  4. Ok this is odd, My SuperMicro SuperServer Intel Xeon 1230v2 shows 32gb ECC Ram in DSM 4.2, but my AMD Asus M5A97 LE 2.0 (970 Chipset) FX-6300 shows 4gb when there is 8gb ECC ram?? Is this an AMD memory addressing issue?
  5. AMD cost £150 to build The SuperMicro Super Server e3-1230v2 is my main ESXi ZFS Server, Lab box, was just trying DSM on there for fun
  6. Which beast are you referring to? The AMD or the SuperMicro Super Server?
  7. ASUS M5A97 LE 2.0 AM3+ Lan: Working SATA: All ports working USB2: All ports working USB3: All ports working SuperMicro X9SCL/X9SCM and -F series Lan: Both NICs working SATA: All ports working USB2: All ports working
  8. This is a fantastic project, keep up the good work! I wrote "TheBay" BIOS for HP Microserver series, to enable AHCI, but I have put that on hold at the moment till I get an N54L. I found a perfect hardware combination for this version over the weekend and built a box running 4.2 an hour or so including assembly. I can confirm the ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AMD AM3+ works perfectly and very cheap £55, it has 6x SATA 6gb/s, compatible Realtek NIC and even USB 3.0 support works perfectly! CPU I used AMD FX6-6300 6 Core (95w Tdp) £100 Also this board supports ECC Unregistered/Unbuffered RAM Running 7x Hitachi 5K3000 2TB's and really happy with performance, I just added an Intel Based HP HP NC360T Dual Nic which I can confirm works perfectly! I have also added a HP NC360T (Intel) Dual NIC (PCIe 4x) which is supported out of the box This all works so well I am selling my SuperMicro Superserver with E3-1230v2 and 32gb RAM with LSI 9207i (LSI2308) and dual redundant PSU. I was using ZFS/Solaris but much prefer the Xpenology for home use.
  9. Salut à tous, De mon côté, en cours d'installation sur mon nouveau serveur ESXi. Carte mère : Supermicro X9SCM-iiF Processeur : XEON E3-1230v2 Mémoire : 32 Go Disques durs : à déterminer. Merci pour ton retour Tomek, je vais pourvoir me baser dessus.
  10. MotherBoard is Supermicro X9SAE-V DSM 4.1 can successfully boot but when I try to update with the .img file, I stuck at "booting the kernel"
  11. Support for the LSI 1064e/1068e/ 1078e cards would be nice. They're all driven by the 'mptsas' driver, which is already in the kernel - direct links to the latest LSI driver source is (may have more patches in the mainstream kernel though, these haven't been updated since 2011): http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/Hos ... .28.00.zip They drive a boatload of cheap lower-end HBA's (which I for some reason have a ton lying around) like the LSI 3081E, LSI 3041, LSI 3442, IBM BR10i, Supermicro USAS L8i/ S8i/ H8i). Thanks!
