cloudorz Posted January 11, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) As in the title, does anyone compile the spk of qemu-ga to respond power-on/off request from pve? on DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 3 DS3622xs+ Pve version:7.3-4 Bootloader: ARPL v1.0 Beta10 with acpi plugins Edited January 11, 2023 by cloudorz
namvan Posted May 11, 2023 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2023 I am interested to know as well but it seems to much to ask. I have the same question in my with my setup using VMM but found no answers yet. The acpid ext from tcrp makes it possible to use the Shutdown in DSM at least. Doing shutdown, reboot from host would yield no results since qemu agent not installed / not connected. Orphée Posted May 11, 2023 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2023 With Proxmox VE, you only need acpid addon. It perfectly works. It is not yet compatible/compiled for 7.2 RC. Shutdown and reboot works fine from Proxmox VE GUI.
namvan Posted May 11, 2023 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2023 @Orphée thank you for the info. Could you point me to a guide to add that? I used this but did not work from VMM, only from DSM itself ./rploader.sh ext ds918p-7.1.1-42962 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json
Orphée Posted May 11, 2023 Share #5 Posted May 11, 2023 I probably missunderstood your original request. VMM is inside DSM, and you run DSM under proxmox ? So you run VMM under DSM under Proxmox ? Official VMM has qemu guest available for guest OSes running inside VMM. I don't catch your need between proxmox and VMM. If you have proxmox, why do you care about running VMM inside DSM ? Use directly proxmox to run each VM...
namvan Posted May 15, 2023 Share #6 Posted May 15, 2023 (edited) Hey @Orphée, Thank you for your response. I think I confused you a bit with the word VMM. It is the Virtual Machine Manager I am using with my Linux Mint. It should be actually corrected to QEMU/KVM for less confusion. Same as PROXMOX as host but I am using it for a specific reason. Anyway, I read through more threads in the forum and found this one that helps me to shutdown/reboot via VMM (from host) and also within DSM ./rploader.sh ext ds918p-7.1.1-42962 add https://github.com/pocopico/redpill-load/raw/develop/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json To @cloudorz the above extension would help you. Please adjust to your selected model/version. whereas the one previously posted (and below) did not work fully. I can only shutdown/reboot from within DSM. Nothing happened when triggering the actions from host. ./rploader.sh ext ds918p-7.1.1-42962 add https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pocopico/rp-ext/master/redpill-acpid/rpext-index.json PS: This post from @phone guy which is for something else but the signature pointed me to the working ACPId. The partially worked command is from this post for reference Cheers. Edited May 15, 2023 by namvan
waveformer Posted May 26, 2023 Share #7 Posted May 26, 2023 Similar needs here. In particular I've a Proxmox VE 7.4 hosts. Inside a DSM VM on which: The Shutdown and Reboot actions from the host interface doesn't work. Only the Stop command work (but he's a kind of bruteforce). The Backup Job doent's work with snapshot mode that should be designed for an hot backup of running VM... During the backup the DSM VM is unavailable and also after the backup is in an inconsistent state, I need to force stop and restart the VM. No issue with backup jobs using the snapshot mode for others VM of the same host. Both point 1 and 2 seems to be realted to the missing QEMU agent inside the DSM VM. Please anyone found a solution to install the agent that works properly (and hopefully fix the point listed above) ?
