it does not come with a i915 driver ootb so it's a not for intel quick sync based hardware transcoding (iGPU), it will transcode based on cpu if there is not support for intel quick sync, depending on the material and cpu it can be challenging to transcode one 4k movie based on cpu power - its often possible to just stream in source quality and let the client device handle it, as the client device only has to decode and resize (no encoding as on the server) and it usually has hardware based decoding its often no problem to just stream in source quality

the only thing where transcoding on the server might be needed is when there is a bandwidth limit between server and client (wifi or powerline in some home environment or when accessing dsm over the internet and having "slower" upload rates to the internet from dsm over a asymetric broadband connection)

but it might be possible to compile a i915 driver and add it - problem might be that there could be something missing in synology's kernel we use as base (protection of dsm and missing source to build own kernel)

with 3.10 kernel on 3615/17 on 6.2.3 it was not possible to use i915 driver from kernel 3.10 but maybe it does now with kernel 4.4, i plan to try this later when i have a few things up and running

Just wondering if there's a way to enable support for intel quick sync for a xpenology baremetal setup based onDS3622xs+ with the new TRCP loader/DSM 7.1.x. ?

I have a question regarding the recent production of the integrated module pack, so I would like to confirm it.

The vanilla module list with no modules installed is extracted as follows.

Is it correct that these modules should not be overlapped with newly compiled modules for XPE?

Or, even if it is in this list, is it correct that the recompiled XPE module should be overwritten and used again?

My opinion is that it cannot be generalized

For example, network card drivers, some still need to be compiled to be compatible with more IDs

thank you It means that the vanilla module alone may be lacking in PID/VID compatibility. In the recompilation process, more PID/VID are added to increase this compatibility.

Its related to the PCIID (pci alias) of the module and the support of the module for these specific PCIIDs

After upgrading a DS3622xs DSM system with Core2duo CPU to 7.2 (or U1) i've noticed that are certain functions that fail to execute. E.g. Downloadstation cannot perform search, Video station cannot index files etc. Some basic functions will still work though e.g. the DSM UI, the File manager etc. but i'm worring about CPU compatibility issues of older systems. Maybe older CPU users should stay at 7.1.1 U6

@wjz304 I'm planning to test using ARPL-i18n to see if its on my end, but since my schedule is tight, could you in the meantime verify somehow ?

@pocopico

Isn't there an issue with the ata_piix module on older platforms?

https://www.kernelconfig.io/config_ata?q=&kernelversion=4.4.302&arch=x86

config ATA_PIIX

tristate "Intel ESB, ICH, PIIX3, PIIX4 PATA/SATA support"

depends on PCI

help

This option enables support for ICH5/6/7/8 Serial ATA

and support for PATA on the Intel ESB/ICH/PIIX3/PIIX4 series host controllers.

Are there other disk controller modules that can replace the onboard controller, the ata_piix module?

You may be able to use an alternative controller card if it has a PCI-E interface, but most likely it will be a PCI interface.

I was mistaken.
I thought the old LGA775 type MOBO didn't have PCI-E.
If you only have a separate controller on PCI-E, the ata_piix issue can be circumvented.

tristate "Intel ESB, ICH, PIIX3, PIIX4 PATA/SATA support"

depends on PCI

Its not my issue, my system has ICH8 with AHCI SATA ports.

@pocopico Brother, I don't have a core2duo,

My PVE simulating core2duo will fail to run, I don't know if it's because it's an AMD cpu.

My current environment is indeed very poor, I only have one N5105 board and AMD 5600X's PVE.1029.gif.7d2c31150d377670fdbfa4649306811e.gif

Perhaps i can be tested on Win through QEMU, but the significance of simulation testing may not be significant,

Are there any other testing methods?

Unfortunately i'am also somehow limited on resources. I currently test mainly on VMware and on some personal production/semi-production systems.

I have both a Core 2 Duo and a Core 2 Quad.
Is there any way i can help?

Yes you can test DS3622xs for Download station , Video station and file indexing services

The hardware environment is the Intel DG45ID and Q8300 Core 2 Quad mentioned above.
I used mpt3sas controller.

Is it correct to search like this in Download Station?
Also, I'm not familiar with video stations because I rarely use them.
I stayed and tried 1 movie and 1 drama and 1 series.
Indexing appears to be stuck. Thumbnails for each movie also don't seem to be displayed.
Is it true that one succeeds and the other fails?

Thanks, the search constantly fails even after numerous re-installs and retries

Today, I switched the IDE to AHCI and removed the SAS controller.
I've searched again and again with different keywords in DownloadStation, but there doesn't seem to be a problem.

@pocopico, @wjz304

The baremetal test of ARPL-i18n 23.6.6 also gave the same results as TCRP.
Download Station is fine and Video Station is unable to index.

@wjz304

There are additional reports about ARPL-i18n.
I left the Intel DG45ID MOBO on with the test completed 2 hours ago, but now, after 2 hours, the e1000e is not working and the nic is not responding.

Until now, this MOBO is a stable INTEL MOBO that has never been FREEZE for no reason.

Yesterday, TCRP did not have this phenomenon even if it lasted for more than 3 hours.

Inevitably, the PC is forced to shut down.

do you mind running cat /proc/cpuinfo |grep -i flag

Here are the results of the Core 2 Quad Q8300.

I've used @Peter Suh loader , and can't for the life of me get NVME M2 drives to show up in the webportal (passed through with ESXI) . I can see them using lspci , and disk -l .

Anyone have any tips , tried running @007revad enable m2 volume scripts, etc . with no luck

Tested with DS920+ and works with that model ?

assume sataportmap / diskidxmap don't need to be declared .

@wjz304

Last time e1000e stopped ARPL-i18n, this time I monitored the log through Serial Port.

I waited for about 2 hours this time, but I see an unusual log.
It seems to have happened after about 2 hours.

It seems that the last task before fabio left was ARPL's performance processing.
Could it be that it has something to do with it?

This time, the LIC did not hang or hang like a kernel panic.

Could this kind of performance processing cause instability?
