naviator Posted August 13, 2021 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2021 Hello, I am new here. I've seen a quiet few people asking the same question (see the screenshot below) as I do. So I start a new topic to collect the solutions. I am thinking to buy a system to install XPenology. After viewing the post, I noticed that there are some hardware compatibility issues. I can't pull the trigger without knowing if the system is compatiable or not. There are many bootloader builds listed in this forum, how to determine which one if for me? Thanks
Badger Posted August 29, 2021 Share #2 Posted August 29, 2021 Looks like the bootloader you chose did boot. What did you find at http://find.synology.com?

Based on the link, DS3617xs should work. However, after the USB boot up, I can't find the NAS with Synology Assistant.
Kamele0N Posted September 9, 2021 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) Try with another usb stick....it happened to me in the past! I tried to find new use for my 4Gb usb stick...it is one "no-(brand) name usb... After I switched for a new Sandisk 8Gb (and updated my bootloader to new PID&VID) everything started to work properly! Badger Posted September 10, 2021 Share #7 Posted September 10, 2021 Or maybe try replacing the extra.lzma file in the second partition of the bootloader http://www.filedropper.com/extra3617v0112test. Search for "driver extension installation"... or something like that for instructions. I had to do this to get the network going on my setup.
