Aduss85 Posted July 16, 2015 Share #26 Posted July 16, 2015 Alot of people using XPEno have come from Synology devices themselves I guess (I know I have) hence have some grounding how it works already. I'm having the same problem as you though with eth0 not running, regardless of what I try
XPEH Posted July 16, 2015 Share #27 Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks, don?t know, why the xpenology guys do not describe that in their tutorial:( Its an adaptation of Synology DSM to run on generic hardware. Synology documentation still applied for most of the parts. You expected to understand the basic functionality of Synology and difference while applying it to third party hardware. Monkeymonkey76 Posted July 17, 2015 Share #28 Posted July 17, 2015 I was getting the errors with eth0/eth1 not running. The machine wasn't receiving an IP via DHCP for some reason however I configured a static IP on the HP and then it connected fine (changed back to DHCP once setup). I generated the password for the day which changes daily then ifconfig'ed a static ip. https://wrgms.com/synologys-secret-telnet-password/ Hope it helps someone! hokaido Posted July 17, 2015 Share #29 Posted July 17, 2015 @XPEH: Thanks for your help, knowing that the installation of DSM must be remotely, it was easy:) I installed DSM 5565, there should be an update Part2. Updating with the same procedure? Anything to take care of? Again many thanks Stefan
XPEH Posted July 17, 2015 Share #30 Posted July 17, 2015 There is different procedure for each type of updates. This particular small update can be done via web interface control panel directly, but most likely will require one or two complete restarts (maybe even with hardware power button)
hokaido Posted July 17, 2015 Share #31 Posted July 17, 2015 @XPEH: Ok thanks. Then I will update the DSM via the WEB Gui directly. I was just asking, because I read somewhere else not to update via WEB GUI, because this might cause errors. Thanks for your efforts Stefan
XPEH Posted July 17, 2015 Share #32 Posted July 17, 2015 Some updates are not done directly via Web GUI and some are require different USB flash image. Read here before each update and don't update before confirming its working with correct update procedure.
