  1. Assuming the quad port uses a supported driver, it's as easy as turning it off and swapping the card. access the box via the int NICS, and configure the four new ones. It's as easy as you could hope for.
  2. I had no issue applying update 1 and update 2 after upgradeing DSM to 4493. I used only the DSM GUI in both cases.
  3. I verified my spare 1gig card, it is a Broadcom BCM5722 chipset and it works.
  4. Any Linux types out there able to help me understand what the boot log about tells us? is the driver not even there? incomplete? maybe something else? does anyone know if there is a script or process documented than non linux types could try to add / fix a NIC driver issue?
  5. I didn't know for sure, so I just changed a little bit.
  6. Broadcom 57XX Gigabit Controller Driver One of my test systems has a broadcom card that I am 90% sure falls into this range, and it was recognized. the broadcom Netextreme II 10 gig adapter (57710) DOES NOT work, even though it attempts to load the driver. Silicon Image 3114 Controller (think it uses the same driver as an SI card that I tested.) The good news here is that you can easily pull your existing HDD drives and your existing boot stick, and try it out. No risk at all.
  7. I tried an intel based card and it worked as well. Still I have quite a few of these Broadcom 57710 cards, so I am hoping to get it working.... thanks for the feedback!
  8. using latest nanoboot, and DSM 4493U1. This is what I did to create a unique serial number, and according to the Synology assistant, it seeams to have worked. Just to clarify to have a unique serial number I should edit \\usbshare1\boot\grub\menu_install.lst and in lines title Nanoboot DSM 5.0-4493 (install/downgrade) kernel /zImage ihd_num=0 netif_num=4 syno_hw_version=DS3612xs sn=B3J4N01003 vid=0x0EA0 pid=0x2168 loglevel=0 vga=0x305 upgrade=5.0-4493 change the bolded serial number to something unique like title Nanoboot DSM 5.0-4493 (install/downgrade) kernel /zImage ihd_num=0 netif_num=4 syno_hw_version=DS3612xs sn=B3J4N98765 vid=0x0EA0 pid=0x2168 loglevel=0 vga=0x305 upgrade=5.0-4493 then edit \\usbshare1\boot\grub\menu_nano.lst and in line kernel /zImage ihd_num=0 netif_num=4 syno_hw_version=DS3612xs sn=B3J4N01003 vid=0x0EA0 pid=0x2168 loglevel=0 vga=0x305 change the bolded serial number to same unique value like kernel /zImage ihd_num=0 netif_num=4 syno_hw_version=DS3612xs sn=B3J4N98765 vid=0x0EA0 pid=0x2168 loglevel=0 vga=0x305
  9. No, it's not on the synology supported list from what I can tell. I will give trantor's a go!
  10. This is the relevant information from dmesg as far as I can tell. looks like the driver was loaded incompletely? it needs a firmware file? weird.

  12. I Tried nanoboot as well at DSM 5.0-4493. Same story, sees the (2) other NICS, just not the one I care about I know NIC works in this system/slot etc, as I can boot it running MS Windows 2012R2 HyperV server Can I add support? several drivers are available for this NIC (Qlogic hosts it now) bnx2x http://driverdownloads.qlogic.com/QLogi ... 244&Os=175
  13. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I am trying to spin up an XPEnology NAS with support for this BCM57710 10-GigE adapter. GNOboot Alpha 10.5 was attempted, and while I could get it working no problem with the intel 1Gig NIC , the BroadCom 10Gig ethernet NIC was not recognized and listed as an interface in the GUI. Checking the GNOboot site, it is indeed listed http://www.gnoboot.me/p/blog-page_6.html BCM57710/57711/57711E/57712/57712_MF/57800/57800_MF/57810/57810_MF/57840/57840_MF (bnx2x) Any hints or suggestions are appreciated.
  14. any support in nanoboot for broadcom (now qlogic) net extreme II 10 gig adapter like 57710? possible to add?
  15. Using Gnoboot 10.5 alpha. NIC is not seen even though its listed as a driver he added. 10 gig ethernet card broadcom 57710. card works if I boot from hyperV but not in XPenology!!! any ideas on how to troubleshoot unseen NIC?
